By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

See, those are rules he needs to light up a little on. You're smart, you can keep yourself out of trouble. I mean, you'd never just take a drink from a stranger at a party, would you? [and the mention of secrets pings her in a bad way] What kind of secrets?

[She's already assuming he's someone the woman's dad blames for his actions. Her father blames others too.]

I wouldn't take a drink at all. My dad's very selective about what we consume. [Almost everything is hunted by him, or grown in their garden. He even made the pipes in their house for the water.]

They wouldn't be secrets if I told you.

BOB is a demon. He's been having me since I was twelve. Living in my father's body for I don't know how long.

[Laura wishes BOB was just a man. maybe she wouldn't have had to die to escape him]

So no alcohol? At all? [she thinks that Abigail's father is seriously controlling and that's not good]

I can keep a secret.

[There's no surprise in her voice. She's not taking her literally. She thinks of her father as having a monster inside him sometimes, though she doesn't admit it.]

No alcohol from other people. My dad lets me have wine on special occasions and a sip of his beer when we're in his hunting cabin.

It's family stuff.

Wine can be real good, but I'm talking stuff like vodka. Whiskey. Tequila. Rum.

Yeah, that's usually the most messed up shit.

No, nothing like that. I'm only fourteen. And doesn't it taste nasty?

Any family can seem messed up to people that aren't in it.

[She thinks her peers that have arguments with their parents must be screwed up. She doesn't know what normal is.

No, not when you mix it with something. Like a rum and Coke or a vodka lemonade. Or a margarita.

[her mother is an emotionally fragile chain smoker and her father is, well. possessed by a demon. hard to get more messed up than that]

Couldn't you just drink coke or lemonade and tell people you mixed it with something? That way, you don't get drunk or hungover and you get to see what everyone else is like when they're drunk, remember all the embarrassing stuff they did that they forgot.

[She's already starting to think about manipulating others.]

And I wouldn't make my dad mad if I didn't really drink.
