Event Log: The Hope of a Child

By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

"You- you- I'll get you for that! I'm a dragoon, don't you get it!?" Kain is still doubled over in pain, and unable to block her next kick. He cries out in anger and frustration. Is he going to let some rude, undisciplined dwarf girl beat him!? No chance, he'd never live it down!

So after another moment of wallowing in pain, he decides to act. He isn't completely skilled in the dragoon jumping yet, but he's got a start on his training, and that's good enough for now. So he makes a small leap toward her. He doesn't quite make the height of a proper dragoon, but it's still a chance to close the distance... and attempt to land so he can knock her over in the process.

"Eat shit, dragoon! Whatever that is...." Aren doesn't know, of course, though that leap catches her by surprise. He's more athletic than she thought, that's something to keep in mind and be wary about...especially when he lands close enough to strike. She cries out, tumbling backward into some garbage bags by the mouth of an alley.

Kain tumbles into a rather ungraceful landing, rolling on the ground until he can right himself. He hasn’t been doing enough practice on the footwork and it shows. He knows his father will berate him for that, tell him to get training harder.

He stands and shakes himself off. He’s a bit sore where she’d gotten him, but he feels satisfied he’s gotten her back. “You shouldn’t ever, ever insult the dragoons.”

"If they're all as weak as you, they ain't nothin'!" Aren gets back to her feet, glaring daggers. Some snotty kid telling her not to do something? Yeah, she's going to be as contrary as she can, just to spite him.

[dragonsgrasp]

"I am not weak, I'm strong, I'm a man, after all... son of the greatest dragoon who ever lived!" Well, no he's definitely still more boy than man, but that's beside the point right now. Still, he puffs up trying to look all big and important, trying to show just how strong he really is. "You're just some lowlife... not even worth my time..."

"A man? Oh please, I bet your balls don't even got hair on them!" Aren laughs derisively at the first part. What an ego! But that contemptuous, condescending comment has her eyes darkening with anger and she scoops up some garbage to fling at his head. Hopefully it'll blind him or at least make him gag.

[dragonsgrasp]

It definitely does the latter, with Kain choking and coughing loudly, as he stumbles backward. He needs to remember her description so that he can have the proper authorities arrest her. She'll clearly be too much to apprehend alone, though he's still rather loath to admit that.

"How dare you? You're just some lowlife criminal scum... you- you need to be locked up!"
