By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.
And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!
Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.

Um, it's. Um...
[Wow, this kid really has never played hopscotch before, huh.]
It's, um... easier to keep track with th'lucky? [Barry scratches at his ear, trying to think of more reasons why the lucky is so crucial to the game.] A-Also if y'miss th'square, y'have t'skip your turn, which makes it easier for the other player to win! So y'gotta practice your throws! Jumpin' is easy, throwin' is hard. D-Does that make sense?
we can skip & handwave a cute game if u like <3
Yeah. That makes a lot more sense.
[And then he actually smiles, toothy and lopsided and probably a strange contrast to the expressions Barry is used to seeing on his face.]
Okay-
[Kravitz finally takes his turn, wobbling even more than Barry. He makes it to the second last square before accidentally stepping out; his shoes a little too tight and uncomfortable for this sort of play. He scowls, then sighs.]
I suppose it's your turn again.

It's no surprise, maybe. Seeing as he's the only one of the boys with hopscotch expertise - or, well, hopscotch experience - but it was a close call! He even stumbled on one of the turns, tripping over the lucky on his way back like a goobus, giving Kravitz an opportunity to catch back up to him.
By the time Barry lands his last hop, he's sweaty and out of breath, but grinning at the older boy. Luckily, Barry isn't gross about winning.]
That was so much fun!
[He's beaming, bouncing excitedly on his feet.] How'd you learn to do that spin? That was so cool!

I liked it too.
[He grins back, looking a little proud.]
My sister teaches me dances, sometimes. She says I'm a quick learner.

[Barry’s eyes are huge under his thick glasses, his starry gaze locked on the older boy. First Lup has a brother, and now Kravitz has a sister? Everyone’s got siblings!]
That’s so cool! I don’t have any brothers or sisters. [Might explain why he’s so lonely all the time, constantly latching on to other kids in hopes they’ll play with him.] What kinda dance do you do? I-I dance a little bit with my mom! Do y’know waltz? I know that one.
