Event Log: The Hope of a Child

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the The Hope of a Child event
Where: All over the city!
When: January 23rd-Feb 1st
Warnings: Youths

By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you trip over a kid and die, please let us know here.

"Yes, bastards!"

Thank you, Rey.

"Die, die, die!" He yells as he presses that button as fast as his little hand allows him to. "Rey, Rey! Bring it down! Bring it down!" He obviously (or not) means to get that mystery ship again, but it's a little too fast for him! Actually, the whole thing might be a little to fast for him, but he's doing so great!
circumitus: She was still in her dress and I was still in my bridesmaid dress. (just made out with the bride)

never be sorry.

A better person -- probably someone more suited to babysitting, even -- would know better than to teach young children words like bastard. But Rey hasn't made any effort to change her behavior around kids before, why should she start now?

"No worries. That asshole's going down."

Case in point.

But at least she's decent enough at this game to be true to her word. So there.

No one in their right mind would use that word near Atem! But there she is! And the kid seems apparently marveled at it!

She bursts the mystery ship and Atem tosses his arms in the air, "You're so good at this!" He's extremely happy and excited, his cheeks red already from the emotion — and when the game is over (they won, of course!) he stands on his seat and throws his arms around Rey's neck, hugging her tight.

"We did it!"

That was almost too ea-- OH GOD THE KID IS HUGGING HER NOW WHY IS HE HUGGING HER? Rey is more caught off guard by it than anything else, not sure what to do so she just... stands there. It's not that she's adversed or discomforted by the gesture, but it's just been a long while since someone has so unexpectedly thrown themselves around her like that. Weird.

"Ah--" Okay. What do? "Yes, we won." Awkward pause. "You, um. Want to go again? Or try something else? This machine has a lot more games like this one."

If it keeps the kid distracted so he doesn't go curling up into any more empty kegs, all the better.

Atem just holds her for another second before letting go of her.

"Show me more!" Does she really have to ask? He's way too excited to let go of this so easily. Probably for a kid of his age these games are ridiculous and old, but for him, they are the most awesome thing there is in the entire world.
