By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

[Taako just kind of looks at him like he's an idiot.]

D'you really think they're just gonna do that? Some kid just walks up off the street like, yeah, I know the prince and they're just gonna let me in. Really.

[anoshe]

Sure! I mean, they'll ask me to make sure, and Kell's gonna be mad about it, but if I say you're my friend they'll listen.

[It seems so simple to him.]

It'll be fun.

[Why are rich people so weird. Taako can't imagine people just being so-- receptive about the whole thing. He might be nice, but what if the guards aren't?

He decides to split the middle.]

Don't you have like-- a symbol, or a patch or somethin' you could give to prove I'm tellin' the truth? Like a ring or-- anythin'.

[Then he still gets something today, and maybe more later, without needing to necessarily bank on his continued kindness.]

Umm...

[He looks down at himself. He's dressed nicely, but he doesn't normally carry the royal seal or anything. Rhy is still at an age where any jewelry on him would immediately get lost or broken (well, right now, anyway).

He rummages through his pockets and eventually comes up with a crumpled handkerchief - luckily, unused. It's silk, and monogrammed, of course.]

What about this?

[pocketspa]

[Not as fancy as he wanted, but it'll do. He nods.]

Yeah. Then they'll come get you when I show up. And I'll give it back.

[Or the guards will chase him off and he gets to keep this nice thing. It's a win win, though this is less of a win than the alternative.

He holds out his hand.]

Okay?

[anoshe]

Okay!

[He hands the handkerchief over with no hesitation. He's got tons of them back home, after all.]

And when you come to visit, I'll show you the gardens. And we can get something good to eat!

[He takes it, tucks it into his pocket quickly. He doesn't want Rhy to watch him feel it so carefully, the way he's never held something so soft. But Taako nods, giving him a bit of a smile.]

Alright. You better promise.

[He pulls himself up, looking back out to the city.]

You'll find your people. And when you do, I'll see you again.

[anoshe]

I promise.

[He grins back, open and easy, like he has no doubt that they're friends now.]

[Is this how you make friends?? Kidnapping?? Taako knows as well as Rhy does.]

You better!

[He sticks out his tongue, and then runs out and off with his prize.]
