Event Log: Flu Season

What: The event log for the Flu Season event
Where: All over the city
When: March 20th-March 30th
Warnings: Gross sneezing, sick people, and paranoia

It starts with a cough, a sneeze, a sore throat - something small and simple, easily ignored. But then your symptoms get worse. It's probably been awhile since you've been sick, that sort of thing doesn't usually happen here. You might be able to raid the shops for some tissues and tea before it gets too bad, and hopefully you've got a friend to help out until you get better. Surely it'll be over soon, right?

Until the fever sets in, and you start to understand why your friend is really there. They don't want to take care of you. They want to make sure this is the last anyone will ever see of you. They want to learn all your secrets. They want to steal your most precious possession. You know they're plotting against you, you know they're keeping something from you. What will you do to find out what it is?

Then, as the sickness fades, you realize it was all in your mind. Let's hope you didn't do or say anything too awful. But that friend of yours... they seem to have picked up your cough. Maybe you should help them out?

Maglor looks at him with fever glazed eyes.

"I tried, Nelyo. I really did. I wanted to save you. I couldn't!"

Fingon did it Curufin's shadow says callously.

Aye! And gladly so! Celegorm's said gleefully, ignoring the glare Maedhros leveled at him.

The eldest of them turned his attention to Maglor and tucked his brother's head under his chin, pulling him close.

"Shh, I know, Kano. I did not want you to come after me. You did what needed done."

[bythewaves]

"Don't leave me." He begs.

Everyone leaves Caranthir says.

"I didn't mean to fail you, Nelyo."

[castintofire]

"I will not leave you ever again," Maedhros fiercely promised, speaking over Celegorm's mocking laugh.

Everyone will always leave, Kano! You know that!

"You have never failed me! I love you, little brother."

Then hissed, glaring at the shadows. "Leave us to rest, you two!"

[bythewaves]

"Everyone always leaves." He echoes, soft and sad.

"But if I... if I leave first? Is that why?" He shivers, despite the heat of his skin. "Am I dying, Nelyo? I'm afraid of the Dark."

Always the coward

Maedhros tightened his hold on Maglor, heart squeezing in misery and guilt. This was his fault, and Celegorm seemed to agree.

Blame Nelyo, he's the one who led us.

"No, Kano. You are not dying. I will not allow it!"

[bythewaves]

"If I go first, you won't leave me. I'm not as frightened, if you're here."

Maglor curls against him.

"Perhaps it's better this way."

[castintofire]

"If you go, I will follow."

Maedhros brushed a trembling hand over Maglor's hair, ignoring the disgusted sniff from the blond behind him.

[bythewaves]

"You shouldn't. You'll make Fingon sad."

Oh and now we care about Fingon.

[castintofire]

"So would you," Maedhros retorted.

I don't, Celegorm rolled his eyes.

[bythewaves]

"He'll miss you more." Maglor shivers again.

"I don't want to be left behind again."

Idiots, the lot of you

"He would miss us both," Maedhros had no doubt about that.

"You remember how his death affected us, Kano." He hadn't been entirely blind to how his brother had reacted.

They are, aren't they?

"You're his special person." He says softly. "I'm not anyone special. Just the second son."

Always second. Idiot.

... I didn't need my heart anyway.

[castintofire]

Maedhros near-snarled and curled tightly around Maglor. "You are special to me!"

Maglor yelps, startled, instinctively clinging back.

"Nelyo?"

Maedhros drew in a careful breath, closing his eyes and trying to ignore the mocking snicker.

"I...Sorry, Kano...I could not bear to lose you."

[bythewaves]

Maglor reaches up carefully, to run soothing fingers through his brother's hair.

"I'm sorry, Nelyo. I ... I will try not to leave you."

[castintofire]

Soothing fingers earned a soft sigh, curling close.

"Thank you. I will do the same."

[bythewaves]

"I hate this." He sighs softly.

"It's so hard to think."

[castintofire]

Maedhros buried his nose against his brother's hair.

"We have each other. We are not alone."

But he agreed.

"Not alone." Maglor hums back to him softly.

For now.

[castintofire]

Maedhros could relax with his brother, if not fully for fear of letting him down again.

"You should try to rest, Kano."

We'll see you again in Stinkybutt's Dark Halls Celegorm added cheerfully.

[bythewaves]

"I ache all over." But Maglor's eyes slide shut.

"And Caranthir is too noisy."

You're a fine one to talk, "Loud son"

[castintofire]

"Mmm," Maedhros agreed there, too, gently brushing a hand over Maglor's hair.

"Not as noisy as Tyelko. I bet he doesn't poke you." Yes, he knew how insane they both sounded.

If it works! Not that Celegorm had ever minded being annoying.

"He just yells a lot." Maglor murmurs, relaxing under his hands.
