Event Log: Flu Season

Who: All characters
What: The event log for the Flu Season event
Where: All over the city
When: March 20th-March 30th
Warnings: Gross sneezing, sick people, and paranoia

It starts with a cough, a sneeze, a sore throat - something small and simple, easily ignored. But then your symptoms get worse. It's probably been awhile since you've been sick, that sort of thing doesn't usually happen here. You might be able to raid the shops for some tissues and tea before it gets too bad, and hopefully you've got a friend to help out until you get better. Surely it'll be over soon, right?

Until the fever sets in, and you start to understand why your friend is really there. They don't want to take care of you. They want to make sure this is the last anyone will ever see of you. They want to learn all your secrets. They want to steal your most precious possession. You know they're plotting against you, you know they're keeping something from you. What will you do to find out what it is?

Then, as the sickness fades, you realize it was all in your mind. Let's hope you didn't do or say anything too awful. But that friend of yours... they seem to have picked up your cough. Maybe you should help them out?

► This log covers March 20th-March 30th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If your paranoia ends in murder, please let us know here.

Oscar | OTA | The Clinic

Even with the knowledge he has acquired of the techniques of human first aid, Oscar can't help but feel slightly ineffectual in the current situation.

Living organisms cannot be repaired in the same way that a vehicle can be mended and restored by a mechanic. They can seek help from the skilled hands of a suitably qualified practitioner; they can be offered some form of specialized treatment for their illnesses; and they can be made comfortable in their weakened state with the use of conventional medicine and other remedies.

But it is ultimately up to the involuntary processes within the biological structure to do much of the work in repairing itself. The human body's ability to recover from ailment and heal itself of injury is a marvel that is sometimes capable of operating independently of the aid of medical education or experience, though this can also be to its detriment if medical intervention is not sought out first for any necessary preliminary care.

There is no simple 'solution' to be had in the case of ill human health. All he can do is focus on promoting taking preventive action and looking after oneself... and then wait for nature to take its course.

From the day the sickness becomes a known issue that must be dealt with immediately, Oscar takes to frequenting his usual route for supplies twice daily in the hope that it yields marginally better results. Oftentimes it doesn't. At present, they are fortunate in that they have enough in their inventory to ensure the Clinic's operations continue to run at optimum efficiency. It is rare to find anything that would be even remotely useful in medicinal applications, but no matter what, there is always food amongst the items he delivers. He leaves the bag filled mostly with provisions in the designated location in the staff-only area or with any staff member that is not currently occupied with their duties.

As the days pass, the Clinic becomes increasingly less organized. Some of the medical staff have fallen ill themselves, yet they continue working. It isn't long before Oscar finds that he has formed a habit of remaining at the Clinic after handing over the supplies he has gathered for that day, placing himself on standby awaiting orders from the staff, hoping that he can be of use to them.
