Event Log: Flu Season

What: The event log for the Flu Season event
Where: All over the city
When: March 20th-March 30th
Warnings: Gross sneezing, sick people, and paranoia

It starts with a cough, a sneeze, a sore throat - something small and simple, easily ignored. But then your symptoms get worse. It's probably been awhile since you've been sick, that sort of thing doesn't usually happen here. You might be able to raid the shops for some tissues and tea before it gets too bad, and hopefully you've got a friend to help out until you get better. Surely it'll be over soon, right?

Until the fever sets in, and you start to understand why your friend is really there. They don't want to take care of you. They want to make sure this is the last anyone will ever see of you. They want to learn all your secrets. They want to steal your most precious possession. You know they're plotting against you, you know they're keeping something from you. What will you do to find out what it is?

Then, as the sickness fades, you realize it was all in your mind. Let's hope you didn't do or say anything too awful. But that friend of yours... they seem to have picked up your cough. Maybe you should help them out?

"Yeah. Something else." A distraction sounds like a good idea. Anything to keep him from getting lost in what probably isn't reality but feels just as dire. What could they talk about? Something innocent, something good. His gaze falls on his dog tags around her neck, and he wonders... "Tell me more about Earth?"

[evocation]

"Okay. Um..." She's quiet for a moment, trying to think of something distracting but still pleasant. Maybe something he's never had much experience with. "My family used to go to Colorado a lot, right? My brother and uncle are like, obsessed with snowboarding, so we'd go to the mountains. If you get far enough away from the ski resort towns, sometimes the only roads through the mountains are super narrow and scary as hell. They're so small they just close a bunch of them in the winter because clearing the snow would be too much of a pain in the ass. But it's really pretty, and quiet, and you can see so many stars it always kind of blew my mind. My mom used to teach us how to find constellations and stuff."

Wash listens quietly, though his breath rattles a little between them. He can't really picture Kyna snowboarding -- maybe she was the type to hang out at the lodge, in front of a fireplace with a mug of hot chocolate. Probably still stubbornly in shorts. Picturing that makes him smile a little.

"I always had trouble seeing them. Connecting the dots. What's your favorite?"

[evocation]

He smiled! Kyna grins back, taking that as a victory. "Hydra. I always thought the monster was cool. What about you? What kind of constellations did you guys have?"
