What: The event log for the Flu Season event
Where: All over the city
When: March 20th-March 30th
Warnings: Gross sneezing, sick people, and paranoia

It starts with a cough, a sneeze, a sore throat - something small and simple, easily ignored. But then your symptoms get worse. It's probably been awhile since you've been sick, that sort of thing doesn't usually happen here. You might be able to raid the shops for some tissues and tea before it gets too bad, and hopefully you've got a friend to help out until you get better. Surely it'll be over soon, right?

Until the fever sets in, and you start to understand why your friend is really there. They don't want to take care of you. They want to make sure this is the last anyone will ever see of you. They want to learn all your secrets. They want to steal your most precious possession. You know they're plotting against you, you know they're keeping something from you. What will you do to find out what it is?

Then, as the sickness fades, you realize it was all in your mind. Let's hope you didn't do or say anything too awful. But that friend of yours... they seem to have picked up your cough. Maybe you should help them out?

( there's a shape of someone in the bed when yusuke returns, but there's no movement. it's covered under the blanket and silent... there isn't even a thanks in reply for his favour.
but there is... a muffled cough from the closet... )

[Yusuke reaches to shake the motionless blanket but... gets no response? The quiet cough almost makes him jump out of his skin, though. is that Futaba, maybe she's still here and is doing her favourite closet lurking trick again.........

Hello? Akira, where are you? [moves to open the closet?!]

( and that where you'll find him, yusuke. he's huddled up into a ball, wide eyes looking up as he places an index finger over where his mouth would be sans-bandanna. there's no sound with it, but the look in his eyes makes it seem like he's pretty serious...

as they dart quickly to the window, instead.
there's a tug at yusuke's arm, much like how he might have done many times in the metaverse when it was time to seek cover. )

[Yusuke is bewildered, but he'll follow his lead and crouch low to the window alongside him. He speaks in a hushed whisper--]

Who are we hiding from?

( his voice is low and strained, not at all helped by the condition he was in... )

He knows— he knows we're here...

Akira.

[Yusuke gently rests a hand on his shoulder -- a small gesture of comfort and strength, when he knows how sick Akira is.] Who are you talking about? If there's someone troublesome around, I will deal with them.

No! ( it's a raised, raspy whisper— and panic building in his eyes. he moves so that both of his hands reach to squeeze yusuke by his biceps as he chants... ) No, no, no, no, no!

It's you he wants. And I can't let that happen. Promise me, Yusuke— ( and he tightens that grip. ) Promise me you won't!

What--? Who?

[He's giving Akira an odd, slightly frightened look, as if seriously concerned for his sanity. But he can't just ignore his friend's distress, either, so he squeezes Akira's shoulder.]

I... I give you my word. I promise I won't. But please, you must get back into bed and rest.

Good, good... ( that answer seems to calm him a little, at least as he relinquishes his grip, and sinks back into his huddled self. )

We shouldn't say his name. If we do, he'll know that we know... He probably— expects me to be in bed. Yes, I see, yes... in that case we should... act naturally, right?

Please, rest. [Yusuke repeats the request, sounding increasingly strained with worry. He puts an arm around Akira's shoulders to support him.]

I'll help you back into bed, and stay right here with you, so you needn't be afraid.

Back to bed, back to... ( he echoes it, apparently working through something, but nodding several times as he thinks it over.

he uses the support to get up again, casting a quick look at the window once more as he does so. it seemed there was no other choice... ) Thank you, Yusuke... ( it seems he's willing to accept the help to get back there. )

[Yusuke glances to the window as he does, but... he really can't see anyone there, so he just insistently leads him over to the bed, lowering him down so he can easily get back in.]

You're welcome. Everything will be fine.

( as he gets seated on the bed again, his head bows down with a half-hearted— ) Whoops... ( as his arm waves clumsily outwards, upsetting the glass of water yusuke had just delivered. )

Oh... sorry. ( but that sounds kind of weak, too. ) Do you think, you could get me another? I— ( coughcough... ) guess I didn't see it there.

Ah--! [he tries to reach for the glass, but... nope, too late. At least it didn't smash.] Please be careful.

[Luckily Yusuke had the foresight to bring that whole jug of water in, so he upends and refills the glass, then goes to grab a cloth to mop up the spill.]

( its his chance. it's now or never. if he gets back into the bed, yusuke will be in danger! he has to lead them away, make sure that yusuke could never be caught...!

akira's mind is reeling. it seems to happen in slow motion— the tossing of the blanket while yusuke is occupied, the side-step around his friend and the sprint to the door.

in no time flat he's out the front of the house, wincing as he bows his head in a silent— i'm sorry! yusuke! )

--Akira, wait!

[that's the delayed response from Yusuke as Akira darts around him and out the door, and he drops what he's doing to try to give chase--

But it's already too late, and he gets the hint his leader doesn't want him to follow, so he soon gives up, mumbling to himself.]

What's gotten into you...?
