Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

What, and make my brother mope at you?

[ Maglor raises an eyebrow at him over his glass in amusement ]

They had better have managed to borrow Dorwinion too, in that case, or I will be grumpy. Either way, I wonder how they do it. Maybe we're all just sleeping and dreaming of eating the foods and drinks of our long lost youth.

He is. [ Maglor huffs a low laugh ]

He really does remind me of some of my brothers. Ah well. I will continue to take him out to the training fields. I don't know if it is helping, but it seems to calm him, a little. Or tire him out, at the least!

[swiftlet]

He told me it does help, but I'm still worried. Are we truly right to try to change him?

Edgar is always clean and smells good, no matter the occasion or the circumstances. He could easily roll in a dirt and yet still come off clean if he so wished to. Dressing, however? It's quite mild on his part. He's always made sure his state of dress is according to his surroundings and the role he's supposed to play. For over a century he was son of a nobleman and now he was supposed to be just another child among the many -- avoid gathering more attention than was needed.

He comes to the feast undressed, which luckily seems to be more common than he thought, despite the small vain part of him missed the more rich attire.

Kelson, however, doesn't seem to feel a need for discreet like him. He's dressed like a king, wearing a crown and all on his head. Well, at least he's matching to his feast. A dinner like that is one that just can't be enjoyed while wearing rugs.

"A feast fit for a king!" He laughs when he comes closer to the table where he's sitting. Crossing his arms around his chest he sits down on the edge of the table, eyeing all the food he's gathered on his plate. "I suppose this is more suitable for you than the vegetables and fruits we found on a pantry. Is this your true form or have you just dressed up?"

[fadeling]

"I just want to help." He's gotten used to people not liking the way he does but he can't do anything else, either.

"There's always hurting, hid and hidden, hungry for healing. You hear it. You know."

[bythewaves]

There's change and there's change.

[ Maglor shrugs ]

Not even the Eldar are static, and we change so very slowly, my people. It's good to learn, to stretch oneself, to correct the faults one sees.

the 19th

[she almost didn't come, afraid that she'd run into her attacker. but she's trying to let her life go back to normal. it's slow (and hard) going]

Really? Oh, my. That's remarkable! Though, it makes me worry a bit about how much the so-called gods know about us.

[swiftlet]

[Sigh]

You're probably right. I'm just... terrified, I suppose. He's already hurting so badly and now this... I just hope I'm doing more good than harm.

[it's not a comparison, really. though she would compare that rude young man who insulted her intelligence and her world and yelled at her to Joffrey]

So was I. Beer in Westeros tends to be very bitter and only good for using to get drunk in a hurry. This has a much smoother taste.

[she smiles back. it's close to her usual bright smiles before her death]

I love wine, in moderation. My favorites tend to be sweet whites, like the Arbor Gold we have in Highgarden.

[and for Margaery, all is not well either, but she feels a little better than she'd felt in the past few days. a feast with no strings attached is always nice and she hasn't run into her attacker]

I shall. [she pours herself a glass]

Oh, my. That sounds delicious and potentially dangerous. [she teases gently]

[Sonya nodded.] I've been attending this for several days now and felt fine..emotionally as well as physical. [At the very least, she felt no different than usual.]

[She motioned to the platters off to the side.] Not that magic isn't involved. Somehow or another it tastes like those made by my former drill sergeant, and he's flat out refused to give anyone the recipe for them. [So how this place was able to mimic them had to have had some sort of magic involved.]

[puzzlingly]

「Please don't.」

Yeah... I never liked it too bitter either, I guess they started making it a little less so when I got to the throne. 「He muses about that as he goes for a few gulps of it.」

Whites, huh? I should have known. I'm more partial to reds... Maybe yours is around here.

「He, unceremoniously, takes her hand and pulls her (gently) to a close by table.」 

[puzzlingly]

「Oh... is that it? Atem expression shifts slowly into something a little more somber and focused, as much as it's possible anyway.」  

Is that what you're so scared of... a name? Does it make you feel inferior?

[bythewaves]

"That is well." Maglor hums softly.

"I hear. Although not quite the same way you do, I think."

[bythewaves]

It is! [ He laughs softly ]

Sweet are the summers on the plains of Yavanna Kementari, and dark hang the clusters of grapes in the Yulmanore, and red is the wine that flows from those happy vineyards! I do not think any mortal has drunk this before now.

[kingforboth]

" I guess there's only one way to find out. I'll have to ask and see."

He still wasn't crazy about the idea, but there was really only one way to find out and get to know these creatures and what they wanted and were all about. And that was to talk with them.

"What do you know about Hope and Fear? Is there one you would trust more than the other? Or is one more knowledgeable?"

[kingforboth]

[He hoped too, that if he couldn't marry for love, he could at least marry for friendship, and hope that something would eventually form between them. Although he held out hope that the woman he did love would change mind and renounce her religious vows. He wished that Laura had the option of a better life at her home, that she wasn't plagued by others desires of what she was and what she might be, and saddened that those who should have been there to try and protect her weren't or that they had failed so miserably. Maybe here she would find some peace.]

[Kelson took a bite of a piece, savoring the taste. It was different than anything he'd tasted before.] Which one was that? Fried chicken?

[kingforboth]

[Kelson wondered if there was anything he could do to help her not feel helpless. No one should feel that way. At least not a Queen. But royalty was not a shield as he well knew.]

It means that she likely will not come after you again. By that reasoning, she has many ...toys here. Why play with one she had already played with?

[He knew that was a cold and callous way of looking at it but he felt he needed to be honest. And as a queen, he hoped she was capable of taking it.]

Good. The elves I have met here seem to be very capable.

"I have talked to either of them extensively, but I camped outside Hope's place for a while back when we first heard there might be an attack on him. He was really polite about it, actually. But who you go to sort of depends on what you're asking for. It's not really that one is more knowledgeable than anyone else, they just focus on different things. Like you wouldn't go to Love if you needed a weapon or you wouldn't go to Rage for flowers. But if you just mea want general information, I think Hope has been adding the longest and from what I can tell he kind of leads the rest of them." Talk about an info dump.

"Sorry. That was kind of a lot at once."

[allthecards]

[First "weak" and now "inferior". He knew that's what Atem had always actually thought, no matter what he might have said of there being more to life than winning.
Winners were at the top, everyone else was nothing. Atem kept making him forget that.

Everything was a game and everything had a winner; including this conversation. He'd given his opponent too much ammunition to use against him. Fortunately he had his own supply. ]

What about you, Yugi? Afraid you can't face me on your own? You already sent a new mutt after me. Who else have you replaced?

[fadeling]

No one hears it quite the same way he does, and he's used to that, too.

"What does it say to you?"

[puzzlingly]

「That makes this one laugh. It's not a gentle one.」

Why do you feel so threatened by my friends, Seto? Is that jealously?

[allthecards]

[It was enough of a bombshell to make him pause before taking another bite. There was no way, he would have noticed if this was anything other than cow. Still, he didn't trust a single person here so it was worth getting more information. ]

Human?

[He could handle it, but who knew what Mokuba was putting on his plate. </small]

[allthecards]

[The laugh is met with the smirk reserved for activating a trap card]

Threatened? Try annoyed that they were always in my way when I tried to challenge you.

Here I thought now that you'd finally abandoned them I'd have a chance to face you without anyone howling in the background.
