Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

  [She smiles at the memory.]   

Breakfast for dinner with the high life eggs was the first meal he cooked for me.  He had this trick where he could toss an egg up in the air and have it land on his spatula, cracking it open into the bowl.  It was very cool.  He was unique.   

  [And now Hannibal is gone. There is something bittersweet about the meal; nevertheless, she takes a plate and joins him.]

You know what we ought to do? We should have a party so both you and Jon can get to know the Elves better.

[ Thank you for not giving him the spoon you ate from, because he definitely wouldn't. ]

I'll do my best to be worthy company, then?

[ Like it's a question. He takes a spoonful, eats it. After he swallows, because he doesn't want to be impolite: ]

You were right, it is good.

This is probably the best use of our energy I've seen so far, if that says anything.

[ It probably doesn't. ]

Ah, no, this food isn't-- my own cooking would be, in comparison.

Hmmm, [Lup draws out with a grin, pushing herself off of the wall onto slightly unsteady feet. Lucky for her, those natural elven graces kick in or she'd be flat on her face by now.]

That means I'll have to share it, which like, I'm not a huge fan of. But what the hay. C'mon, little man. Follow me to the promised land.

[restinglichface]

You traitor!! [She finally shoves off of him, beet red and wobbly.]

Like he doesn't already know! [a beat before] But don't tell him anyway!

I suppose so, although I often learn a lot more about people through normal conversation.

[Just by paying attention. The vast majority of the secrets and details he knows were not told to him in confidence.

He's still watching Edgar a little carefully, trying to get a good sense of him as he responds.]

There isn't really a requirement, but people typically speak with a professional when they have an issue that is causing them mental or emotional stress. I'm typically a trauma counselor, so I usually help people who are having difficulty coping with some sort of traumatic experience.

[But he can help with other issues too, if necessary, it's just his specialty.]

Maybe we aren't on butt praisin' terms yet, alright! He's all fuckin' coy about shit. I'm trying to do it right.

[The second he sets down the cookie, Lup plucks up one for herself, this one a soft pastel yellow, before her sharp eyes are sliding his way, turning a very judgmental look at the man.]

Gods, you really were raised in the gutter, huh? It's a macaron, nerd. Super fancy, super delicious. It's kinda Taako's speciality. These ones are almost as good as his. But if that doesn't do it for you, look over here.

[Without giving Gren time to eat his cookie in peace, Lup grabs his elbow and drags him a few feet over, gesturing over towards a plate of beautiful eclairs, delicate pastry topped in chocolate, with just a hint of cream in the middle.] My fucking favorite. C'mon, there's gotta be something that looks good you here. We gotta get our snack on before we get drunk and fuck strangers up.

[puzzlingly]

「Like Hell! It's his special beer!」

Ahhhhh... You could have said that before, you know? But I don't think there's is a good or wrong way to do that. 「And he drinks from the jug before pausing a moment.」

What is it that you were doing?

[restinglichface]

Making out like super hardcore in the corner.

[Look. Look. Being an adult is hard and confusing and dont judge her.]

[puzzlingly]

「Squint. No yeah, adulting looks awful! It's good he will never be one! Peter Pan forever!」

And you're going to tell me you didn't grab his butt while you were doing that?

「He will judge all he wants! Fite him!」

[restinglichface]

I mean, I'm not an idiot. Of course I did.

[Don't look at her like that!]

I just dunno if it's... Ugh, you wouldn't understand!

[puzzlingly]

「Well, she's not wrong, but that's rude af!」

You two are full of it. Just kiss and make up already. You miss him, he misses you, what is so hard about that?

「Adults.」

[restinglichface]

Look, I'm trying. It's just...

[Her gaze drops down, uncharacteristically shy.] Just trying to take things his speed. If it was up to me, we'd never have been apart. But he's, y'know, more sensitive and shit. I don't wanna be pushy and scare him away.

[Trust her, Atem. Lup has no problem with pushy. That's her base state. It's just that she cares about Barry so much that she's actually holding herself back a little.]

And have you ever seen a perfect world? [They last time she'd heard someone claim that existed, they'd been talking about a world that ran on ideological genocide.]

I guess, if we're gettin' all properly scientific 'bout it. But I think we got a lil' more goin' for us that most animals.

[She laughs, shakes her head. Romance, flings...there had been no room for that in the life she led.] No. Always had a lot to do, no time for that. 'sides, not a whole lotta folks our size 'round here. Guess you got lucky findin' one 'lready.

You've never met my brother Celegorm. [ Maglor says dryly ] That one was always happier outdoors than he ever was in!

[bythewaves]

[ He sighs in frustration - Ignis is still not listening ]

Of course I considered it. It's what I'm trained to do Ignis. It's what being a prince and lord means. I just consider it below the needs of those immediately beholden to me.

[claritatis]

[Oh, he's listening. He needed to hear it said plainly, not dressed up in pretty words and convoluted explanations bound up in 'duty'. That he understands the elf's position has already been made quite clear by him. What one feels they should do can often be tangled so closely with what duty demands that they feel one and the same.

At least now, he's quite aware of where he stands. He huffs out a soft breath through his nose.]

You are a frustrating elf, Maglor.

[abbatis]

Everything but that. [Now he laughs again.] As long there's humans in charge I don't think we'll ever manage to gain perfection.

[Well, he can't say that hearing any of that surprises him. She didn't exactly seem like person who'd be interested in romance or affairs. He could relate to that. But he also knew from experience that didn't count out the need for connection with another being. Having just that one person to understand and support is more than any physical relationship.]

I suppose I am. <[He turns his head back to the roses for a bit and smiles.] Though I'm not entirely sure we're talking about the same thing. Besides, weren't you already an adult despite your size?

[abbatis]

Really now? Do people often ask you to analyse them, then?

[Edgar keeps his demeanor light and carefree, masking away his own inquiring eyes. Lance is not only one who pays attention during the conversation, picking up hidden messages behind the words and nuances. Subtext and such often reveal more than any spoken words.]

Well, maybe I will drop by your office. If you don't mind seeing a child like me.

I understand what you mean. [Glacius waves a hand, as though dismissing Michael's worries, but maybe also slighting the sentiment.] I think saying that we all have achieved "understanding" is a bit idealistic, though. There are things about your kind that I have yet to grasp... and many of you have reacted to me with fear or suspicion. Anger, fear, and conflict have mottled my interactions with your kind, and your interactions with each other. We have more work yet to do if we want to truly claim understanding and thus acceptance of each other... but moments like this are a step in the right direction.

I am glad to hear all that. As for your suggestion, there are many members of the guard, and some come and go. You will have to give me a bit more to go on than that if I am to tell you.
