Here in Hadriel, we do introductions right. That means dumping you on the ground of an old Roman-style Colosseum with a bunch of scary monsters and also a bunch of weird shit. Your monster of the day happens to be Winged Monkeys, more commonly known as flying monkeys, from the Wizard of Oz and affiliated stories!
As you may have been able to guess, these creatures can fly and they're rather intelligent- intelligent enough to wield spears and daggers as crude weapons and strong enough to pick someone right up off the ground and fly with them to a perch, where they'll... you know, stab them with their knives and stuff.
Why? We don't know. It's Hadriel.
Just in case you lose a couple of limbs in the process of escaping these critters, we've got you covered. Scattered around the newbies are prosthetic limbs for various body parts. These limbs are all fully functional, even if they look a bit... odd, so if you've lost an arm or two, or a leg, or even a pinkie finger, feel free to grab one and try to figure out how to use it!
Good job dealing with those monkeys! It's kind of a weird thing to be threatening, but clearly someone was afraid of them once. Once you're done, you can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers May 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

"Your guess is as good as mine." It's hard enough to keep tabs on how long she's been in the city, but the three - almost four - years spent back home doesn't translate into Hadriel time either.
First things first, though, Kate casts a critical eye over that filth (and probably the scrape). "You want a shower? It's upstairs."

He says, perking up, glancing around.
"I feel like this place isn't where I left it. Did it fall into a crevasse? Godzillad?"
It's Hadriel; shit is terrible here. He remembers that.

Moved. Like that was a voluntary action. Kate huffs out a breath from her nose and pinches the bridge of her nose. It's a long, long story, if she can even remember everything of what Bruce missed. "Robots hunting the gods. Tried invading. Destroyed half this city." She gestures towards him before continuing. "Got here just after Hope fixed it." After a lot of work from the people of the city, really.

He asks; bits and pieces of clarification as he made his way through the streets, out of the hell pit of an entrance.
"And that Fear lifted the whole city up and out of the cave, too?"
no subject
"Turned out he was moving us the whole time. Trying to escape..." She trails off, the memories of those weeks of fighting coming back full force, of Delight's misguided attempts to bring an end to their running. "Ended up here after the invasion."
Back to where the gods apparently lived before this all happened.

Says Bruce, lifting a hand to draw out the imaginary slogan on a banner.
Fine. Fine.
"How are you doing?"
no subject
As for her? "Few years older with less to do." Between Hope's barrier and the amount of staff this place has now, the clinic is relatively quiet and excellent at running itself. "How's your memory holding up?"
...There were better ways to phrase that. So many of them. The re-adjustment phase, the return of all those blocked off memories, had been something of a headache for Kate.

He admits, huffing out a breath.
"Is there still tea or coffee around?"
Seems like an occasion to sit with a drink. He always used to keep a supply in a cupboard here.
no subject
In other words, why there's no coffee, and why Kate's hair is still freakin' blonde instead of its rightful pink.
#Priorities.
But, after opening the door and gesturing to either of the seats there, Kate busies herself with finding mugs and tea and turning on the kettle.
"Kind of tastes like roses." She has no idea why. It's just...
Well.
Hadriel.

Says Bruce, who voted against, hated those events, hated the bar, never liked her to begin with. Though he wasn't confrontational enough to be loud about saying so, he certainly admitted as much quietly to Kate.
"Do you know the full story?"
no subject
She pours water into both cups and hands one over, leaning against the counter, expression hardening slightly. Not a lot, but her changes in expression rarely are.
"She thought it was the best way to save us." Even the most even of tones can't quite save the fact that Kate says each word clearly and with emphasis, as though she still thinks that's bullshit. "Worked out a deal with the Null, let them on the network. Tried... protecting some of us who ended up on a kill list the Null put out." Herself included, which is enough to make her hesitate on how to word that particular offer. "Tried to kill Hope herself."
She uses an exhale of breath to cool her cup of tea slightly. "Got captured and imprisoned somewhere by the other gods."
no subject
He admits, curling both hands around his own cup, leaning back against the cabinet and contemplating everything he's heard so far.
"That children were an object. But I don't know exactly why those names were picked, and why it mattered that the enemy was allowed on the internet?"
no subject
"People picked either sided with the gods or questioned the Null, far as I know." She was, regrettably, locked out of that particular event. Downsides of the Null already knowing you would fight them, honestly. "As for the network... Gave them access to get people on their side."
Because there were, of course, people who decided the Null's offer was worth it.
no subject
This part hasn't been explained.
"Who turned? And do we think they've turned back? And wait, why did they wanto to kill the people on that list specifically?"
when windows updates make you lose tags :|
"Might not even be here any more." Which is also an option. That, if someone did betray them, they could be home scot free. "As for reasons - thought they were on the gods' side." Or didn't like the answers they got.
no subject
"I'm going to go find a place to lay my head while I'm here. But I'll see you soon, I'm sure."
