Here in Hadriel, we do introductions right. That means dumping you on the ground of an old Roman-style Colosseum with a bunch of scary monsters and also a bunch of weird shit. Your monster of the day happens to be Winged Monkeys, more commonly known as flying monkeys, from the Wizard of Oz and affiliated stories!
As you may have been able to guess, these creatures can fly and they're rather intelligent- intelligent enough to wield spears and daggers as crude weapons and strong enough to pick someone right up off the ground and fly with them to a perch, where they'll... you know, stab them with their knives and stuff.
Why? We don't know. It's Hadriel.
Just in case you lose a couple of limbs in the process of escaping these critters, we've got you covered. Scattered around the newbies are prosthetic limbs for various body parts. These limbs are all fully functional, even if they look a bit... odd, so if you've lost an arm or two, or a leg, or even a pinkie finger, feel free to grab one and try to figure out how to use it!
Good job dealing with those monkeys! It's kind of a weird thing to be threatening, but clearly someone was afraid of them once. Once you're done, you can explore the rest of the city! [One year later. One year, and here he is back on the same floor.
It's different, in a number of ways. He doesn't wake up this time in a flail of limbs, a panic of magic, a confusion as to where he is. He opens his eyes again on the floor of the coliseum and he just knows. It's been roughly 12 hours back home- the most eventful 12 hours of his fucking life, and it's pretty likely nothing's going to ever top that. Not every day you halt the apocalypse, meet the creator of all universes, remember your sister and learn how to make a taco from a man in another dimension. Plane? It's complicated. Don't start with him.
He doesn't look damaged, just rolling his eyes as he pulls himself up, looking over the monster selection for the month. He reaches to his belt and pulls out what looks like a kind of stupidly ornate glaive, which one would assume he'd be throwing or using the variety of pointy bits strapped to each end. Instead, a number of magical glowing darts shoot out from the center, smacking directly into the face of a nearby money, and he chuckles.]
Wow. Can't even roll out the welcome wagon for chaboy. No pastries, no red carpet, ugh. I, for one, am personally offended.
[He can also be found as he makes his way out, continuing to not even attempt to use this thing like a sword, because it's not, and he's a mess. Sorry Hadriel, you only got a week away from trash elf alpha.]
ii. [semi-closed; horny house] our connection's so magnetic on the floor; nothing can stop us tonight
[After Lup has done her best to cement herself to his side (a not unwelcome gesture, in fact, one he would have done himself had she somehow not), it's time to get settled in again. Unlike his apprehension or worry from the last time he got dropped into the city, something about him is lighter; finally, he's seen the end of something, and he's looking forward. Even if conditions in the city aren't the best, he's here with most of his family. That's worth something.
Not like he's gonna get mushy on main about it though. Taako tramples through the front door, climbs with Lup to the top floor, and flops down directly on the couch before yelling out to the home at large.]

Then, as consolation for his lack of red carpet like he thinks it's the Met Gala or some shit, she simply grabs two prosthetic arms and claps their hands together, balancing her cane on her hip.]

Even if she's fortunate to not need sleep (bless elven neurological structures), there's just no way Lup would have ever been able to find any peaceful rest the night before the new arrivals popped back into Hadriel. Not when this is the day she's been waiting an entire week for, ever since her twin first disappeared from the city.
She parts from Barry for the first time in days the night before, knowing she needs to face whatever happens in the colosseum alone. In the midst of everything else, knowing that Barry will be there waiting for her no matter the outcome brings at a brush of warm comfort to Lup, to know he's finally back and not leaving her side again. But the unspoken truth lingering between them is that they both know everything will change if Taako doesn't appear.
He just has to come back. He has to. Lup can't be without him again, but especially not now, when she doesn't know how their future back in Faerûn turns out.
So Lup waits in the colosseum until morning, quiet and unnaturally still while she perches at the perimeter, counting down the passing minutes, occasionally pulling out her phone just to check and see if her brother's name is still there on the contact list. Even after a decade of lonely waiting in the Umbra Staff, this still feels like the longest wait of her life.
But then suddenly there's people and the creature-of-the-month, but Lup's eyes hone in immediately on the familiar figure just across the way, long, braided hair and a hat no one else would ever be caught wearing.
It's a few seconds later when without warning, Lup just slams at full speed right into Taako's back, arms wrapping around him, her head knocking a little forcefully against his.]

Speakeasy mingle. | OTA
The lounge area is stocked with various food and refreshments, some alcoholic, some not. In addition to the jukebox, many new tunes play from the sound system at the stage, as multicolored lights flash over a glowing dancefloor of numerous hues. While the Speakeasy is generally a calm scene, tonight it is much louder and vibrant for those with a little more energy. Otherwise, there are plenty of relaxing booths to sit and chill in with your drinks and food. While you shouldn't expect the usual bar menu, it should be enough to snack on.
So dance, or wail wildly into the mic on stage so people can throw garbage at you and tell you how much you suck. Enjoy a drink, where the bar has a combination of self-serve liquors and other refreshments, as well as a bartender to make you something special. There's beer, wine, and even mead if you fancy.
More recently, some changes have been made to the third floor of the building leading to the casino area. Rather than being tailored specifically for gambling pastimes, the Game Room holds a variety of fun recreational activities to keep you entertained. While there are the usual casino games, the place has been expanded to accommodate variety of board games such as checkers, chess, and Battleship, and even an arcade machine with many two player options and several games.
Get in and have fun, nerds.

For once, Rey is fashionably late to the welcome night at her own bar. Just one look might tell anyone who knows her why.
Unlike months prior where she spent most of the evening downstairs drinking her feelings away, Rey can be found upstairs sporting a rather modest green dress, tailored by Hadriel's own Margaery Tyrell. With Atem's help, her appearance overall is much more comely than the look she tends to present herself in: Her hair is brushed and fashioned the best her short mahogany mop can be. If one looks a little close, they might notice a hint of... Is that makeup?
Say it isn't so.
Of course, you can bet she's wearing her signature combat boots underneath that. She doesn't compromise when it comes to her footwear.
It's not like she's never dressed up before, or that she's even adverse to it. Making herself appear physically appealing is something she's always had complicated feelings about, so tonight she keeps to herself for the most part. Leaving the volunteers to help with the bartending part most of the time, Rey helps herself to her own home brewed bourbon and slides into one of the booths, across from the dancefloor. She's remiss to seek out conversation with any patrons, especially like this.
II. Game Room.
Before long Rey takes refuge upstairs. Anyone passing by might freely notice Rey sitting at a table with a checkerboard in front of her, along with some red and black circular pieces on the squares. She's got a drink with her and she might have had too many when she is finally the one starting conversation.
"Care for a game?" Rey asks, holding up a red piece from the checkerboard between her middle and index fingers. There's an actual hint of a grin on her face.

The Clinic is a long standing institution in Hadriel, and - months after the Null's attack and the move above ground - settled into its position next to the Guard HQ and near Spire 4, not too far from the Colosseum. If you've been in Hadriel before, it might come as a shock to find it here, or to find that its previous site is now a clean, blank slab of land. But there's still a sign - quickly constructed and rather bland - on the side of the building marking it as the place to come and be treated for whatever injuries you sustained running from monkeys or tripping over prosthetics.
Though well-staffed, the nature of the city means that the organisation will never turn away a pair of helping hands, whether you're well acquainted with medicine or just want to learn. Or even if you just feel like finding them equipment from the shops. There's enough disasters in the city in any given month to warrant the extra supplies - though since Hope restored the barrier that keeps the monsters out, we're hoping the only thing that happens is some sunburn.
Whatever the case may be here, you're welcome to come talk to people. Just don't touch anything without washing your hands first.

[It wasn't that long ago that he found out he was over one hundred years old, that he had traveled through different realities with a crew that would become his family, that he had fought against a being trying to consume reality itself for that entire century. [after getting out of the Colosseum, Jane wandered aimlessly through the town. she'd read the newbie guide and it didn't really help her confusion. Gods? Null? Gods eating her emotions and Null wanting to destroy all emotion? none of it made any sense. what was she doing here? she was no warrior, she was just a stripper.
she really doubted that this town was in need of a stripper
so what did it want her for? just another source of emotions? as much as she hated it, she had plenty of those to spare. her break-up with Dan, her lover of four years, was fresh in her mind. she knew she'd made the right decision to fall out of love with him and go on her way, but it still hurt.
hurt. . . she knew she was among the temples of the gods and she felt herself drawn to one in particular. as sorry for herself as she was feeling, this place seemed to make it even worse. she angrily dashed back tears. and glared at the temple, as though daring it to make her feel worse]

Colosseum
They are a menace, that much is clear, but not overly so. She would take them over the nurses that she'd woken up to, although no doubt there might be those who wake to the winged monkeys and thing, hey, a cute pet. Hopefully not one with a weapon though.
Personally, that's not Carolina.
Knives have become her weapon of choice, if only because ammo for her gun isn't exactly accessible. She's ambidextrous, so that's no problem, back to good shape, and has remained training. Being careful seems to be the name of the game, and the monkeys have more or less decided to not bother her too much.

It is one of the knives that strikes through the air, lodging in one of the creature's shoulder. It earns a squawk and chittering as she prepares another.]

Quentin Coldwater: OTA
[This isn't the weirdest thing to ever happen to Quentin. It might, however, be right up there on the list of things he's pissiest about. He is not supposed to be here, he knows where the door he was going through led. He has places to go and people to see.
The first monkey comes at him, and the spell he tries doesn't work. The circumstances are a lot more fucked up here than he realized. He has to duck the spear the old fashioned way, with a curse and a lot of scrambling. He tries for his magic again, trying to sense what's different here from Earth, what might be blocking the spellwork...
When it doesn't come he ends up just straight up grappling with the thing, trying to keep it from getting a good grip on him. A second one hits, and he staggers to the ground with a very loud, very Brooklyn burst of profanity.]

[Honesly, he just kind of sits on the closest thing Hadriel has to a curb for a little while after this. He's got a couple of bad scrapes, his glasses have a shattered lense, but most of all Quentin is just disoriented. This all shouldn't be. Where could the magic have gone wrong?
With time and space to breathe, he can begin to intuit his surroundings a little better. His fingertips flick, make an eloquent gesture, and the glasses mend themselves. Repair of small objects is always the easiest to grasp, and he breathes out in relief when he feels the spell click. It's a first point of reference. He can begin to get the rest of what he can do up and running.]
afterwards
[So, according to this newbie guide, he needs somewhere to stay. Quentin walks the city, makes circles around the spyres and spirals, enjoying the strange geometree of the place. He's doing the thing all disconnected visitors do; trying doors, looking for some place empty.
If a place looks lived in, he skips it. But it actually isn't all that easy to tell one set of rooms from another; it's not as if people arrive here with a surplus of personal belongings and decor. At first he just walks into places, but it only takes surprising one other visitor before he starts knocking before entering.]
Outside
So there he was, outside, wandering, trying to find another pet project that didn't involve risking his life. He stiffened momentarily, seeing a man he didn't recognize do something that he would definitely call magic, his hand curling around the crown he was carrying like a giant bracelet. Kelson looked around briefly, knowing others said it was safe but he didn't want this man to prove otherwise.]
I've never seen magic like that.

Bruce Banner: OTA
[The sense of deja vu is papable. Bruce comes to face down in the sand, and draws himself up quickly, scanning the room. His body feels wrong. The Hulk is there, but like last time, he's pressed in so close with the other arrivals that he just can't risk it.
The first time this happened it was bears. He's looking around from them when a monkey takes him in the back.
The fight is over quickly. The ones who were watching give Bruce a bit of a berth afterwards, and he takes advantage of it, rushing to help the next person he sees who they're hassling.]

[The first time he arrived in this place, there was no food. Not in the sense there is now, but none, none at all; no boxes, no supplies, no drops, no nothing. It'd been bear meat for everyone for about a week.
This is why Bruce comes out of the arena with the corpse of a monkey in a fireman's carry over his shoulder. Really, the creatures feel close enough to being sentient that this is an uncomfortable prospect, but he shoves those feelings into a back corner of his brain and reminds himself, a week is a very long time.]
tranquility
[When he works out what's happened, he doesn’t reach out. This is mostly because his mind is still choppy. Someone crashes into him in the road and he’s overtaken by a startling memory of impact, of going face down into the dirt of the arena. He jolts, and runs past the stranger, ignoring their apologies. He doesn’t look for the clinic, veers hard away from the space where it approximately should be in relation to the gate. Instead, Bruce scrambles through the town looking for a different landmark.
Tranquility never really understood what he was trying to talk to him about, Bruce doesn’t think, but he doesn’t need to be understood, he just needs the temple. He rushes through the door and feels the sensation of calm rush over him. He can use this.
Hours later, Bruce is still sitting in one of the temple corners, taking stunned stock of himself. Tony’s ridiculous clothes are here intact, but for some reason his glasses are cracked- maybe in the scramble down the roadside? The brief, concussive fight with the monkey? For whatever reason, this seems like the one totally insurmountable problem he’s facing; not facing another abduction to an alien world, not the time in the fighting pit, the fact that Hulk has apparently been all that he is for- how long? All that is par for the course, he can cope with all that.
But if this place hasn’t gotten it’s act together and found an optometrist in the time since he’s been gone, there is a very good chance he’s going to get angry.]

[ Alright, so after brutalizing some winged primates she did browse the welcome guide. A little. Somewhat. Look, she got the gist of it, and that's all she needs. Blah blah, stuck here, blah blah get settled bluh bluh whatever - She saw the map with housing on it and that's her priority. Can't get started without marking some territory first, right?
In fact, it's such a priority that she doesn't bother stopping anywhere else first. She's still covered in blood and dragging a prosthetic limb with her as she beats on doors. Hey, some of them she even opens to peek inside, if they aren't locked. ]

Most don't ever actually try to walk through them. If they did, they would realize they're completely an illusion, entirely lacking substance.
Caedra snorts in frustration, initially opting to ignore whoever it is at the door, except it persists. With shouting. Making it completely impossible to focus. So she throws her pen at the door.
There's a loud thwack! and then moments later, she stomps over to retrieve it, and throws the door open as she does so to see who the fuck is so insistent. And - okay, covered in blood, that's not normally something she'd find strange but the people here don't seem to tear themselves to pieces often and she certainly takes notice with a raised eyebrow. Not to mention, you know, the arm.]

The pain startles her fully awake, and as the stabber withdraws its stabbing implement, Kat rolls away, martial-arts jumps to her feet, and slaps her hand over the wound. Then and only then does she look at the thing that stabbed her. ]

[ With the immediate confusion dealt with, Kylo begins to make his way out of the colosseum. A task made more difficult by the remaining primates. Their ranks have been thinned enough to render any true danger negligible but that doesn’t stop them from being an effective irritant. Particularly when they resort to throwing whatever they can get their hands on.
Which, at this point, largely means literal hands. And other assorted prosthetics. ]
Enough.
[ His growled command is accompanied by a single outstretched arm in the direction of the of the nearest creature. It freezes, eyes flitting about wildly while the rest of its limbs paralyze. He strides toward the now helpless opponent, taking some enjoyment out of its obvious fear before cutting it down.
Once that’s done, he continues toward the exit, paying little attention to anyone still struggling but keeping an eye out for other dangers. Between his lightsaber, still turned on and crackling dangerously, and his tense stance, it’s clear he’s ready for another fight. ]

[ It doesn’t take long for anger to get the best of him. Perhaps he could have held out longer if the circumstances had been different. Being brought here, practically caged and used as fuel, would never be a satisfactory situation but it’s the timing which truly drives his rage. To be pulled away just as the path in front of him finally seemed to be taking shape... it’s too much. There’s an excess of energy burning within him that no longer has a purpose or enemy to strike towards.
Pity the beasts were more an annoyance than a challenge.
Anyone walking around during the evening hours may be unlucky enough to find Kylo taking out his frustration on what was once a very nice wall. One with a well-painted mural awfully close to the point of destruction.
You’re free to try and interrupt if you’d like. Otherwise, it doesn’t last long. Within a minute or so his temper runs its course and he switches off the lightsaber. He takes a few heavy breaths, seemingly shaking himself out of the trance, before turning towards whatever audience has formed. ]

Caedra Nisariel | Colosseum | OTA
She strides to the Colosseum with purpose, having not realized it's the time of month when new people amass along unexpected creatures. See, Caedra wants to have a look at the structure itself. One of the things Hadriel lacks is entertainment, and she has an idea for providing just that, if she's really going to continue to be stuck here for an unknown amount of time.
Back at Ironhold, one of Amamot's layers of the Abyss has massive pits - quarries, really, marring the desert landscape as the slaves extract tons of ores for the foundry near the palace, for use in armor and weapons. The largest and oldest of the quarries ran dry of ore centuries ago and was converted into a fighting pit, and truly there is no joy like watching slaves fight imported beasts for their very survival, or seeing just how many challengers one of the well-bred Goristros can take on before it is slain and returned to the material of the Abyss itself.
Here, people seem so reluctant to fight, only allowing themselves to do so when severely threatened - and why? What for? Hope revives everyone who dies. The clinic healers are talented - well, at least one of them is - and any injury can probably be dealt with trivially. So why not indulge in a little violence? It will help with the boredom, and Caedra imagines plenty of people have some energy to spare anyway.
They'll expect rules. She hates rules. But she's willing to let them have them, if it encourages them to take each other down. They'll expect prizes, too, and she has a few ideas in mind for that.
But as she approaches the monumental building, a winged monkey comes screeching out, being chased by someone - and she drops it from the sky with a bolt of crackling darkness, winding in vinelike threads within itself and blasting right into the creature's body, which falls to the ground with a thud, spraying dust and feathers upward into the air.
Well. Maybe she'll find some of her gladiators this way. If not? At least she'll get an idea of who has arrived this time around.
Margo Hanson | The Magicians
Being dumped on the ground was a harsh enough welcome. It left Margo needing to take a moment to recover and get her bearings, but it soon became clear that all she would get would be a moment. After that, a spear was thrown and damn near grazed her shoulder. Her gaze snapped to the winged primate responsible and her eyes narrowed in contempt. This wasn’t her first encounter with psychotic animals and she knew it wouldn’t be the last.
As quick as she could manage, Margo made a series of intricate hand movements and seemed to push an invisible force toward said monkey and as the wave of energy hit it, it was knocked off of its feet and to the ground, winded at least, injured at best.
This was the fight that Margo would repeat, tirelessly kicking one monkey’s ass after the other and only suffering minor wounds. Sure, her dress was torn in places and her hair had been tossed out of perfection, but she was re-living her Conan the Barbarian moment all over again.
“Come at me!!” She shouted to no one in particular.
After fighting a horde of monkeys and effectively ruining one of her favorite dresses, nothing sounded better than taking a dip. There was talk about a spring existing, so Margo hunted it down. She didn’t really mind traveling by foot, but had her friends been there she might have had some comments about blisters or the possibilities of ticks hiding in the occasional patches of high grass. It was just in her nature to bring a dark cloud to most if not all silver linings.
When the hot springs came into view, Margo let out an audible sigh. Her shoulders fell a bit, her entire self feeling like it was sagging. It was as if the long walk was finally catching up to her and those last few yards were feeling more like the several behind her.
It was easy to slip out of her dress with it being torn in certain places. Margo stripped with no care for modesty. What good was modesty, anyway? Leaving the dress behind her, she slipped into the warm waters with a happy little purr and smiled to herself. She could get used to this place.
[ Wash Away Your Troubles ]
The gentle voice comes from behind her. Ianchus is standing with a towel around his waist. It seems this woman had had the same idea he'd had--wonderful idea, really.
Carrah had no problem with mixed bathing. Certainly, that was always part of why it stood apart from the rest of the Cephea, allowing the sexes to mingle in one large room rather than offering up two different bathhouses for each one. But Ianchus knows that it's not that way everywhere, and he clears his throat again to get the woman's attention.

Well... no opinion he was going to state without a couple bottles of liquor inside of him, anyway. And if he did have a couple shots going into this situation, he'd be a lot more okay with the idea of seeing monkeys with wings.
And monkeys with weapons.
You know, par for the course with a party, who knows who put what in the punch bowl and how strong the hallucinogen was tonight, whatever whatever.
His issue here is the fact that he's stone cold sober and surrounded by heavily armed winged monkeys, see. See, that's an issue. That's like an entire years worth of issues right here and now that he personally didn't want to deal with today. He was very busy stealing someone's shit, he didn't ask for this.
Ergo, the Colosseum will now be filled with the dulcet sounds of pistol fire, because someone's cranky and doesn't appreciate being hit by a marmoset with a pointy stick, he's taking it personally.
Beware, at some point he might just snatch a fallen club and start playing simian baseball, and he doesn't care who gets beaned in the face with a primate.]

There's only one reason Nil is here, and that's the opportunity to end a few lives without consequence. Not human lives (or whatever a person is, he's Seen Some Things), and the lives of the monsters are a paltry replacement, but he'll take what he can get.
It's by chance that he ends up close to the man in the moment he chooses to grab a club from the ground, and the only thing that keeps Nil from actually being hit in the face with a small primate is the fact that he ducks.]
A fair hit, but no points for distance. [He comments, apparently not at all fazed by the experience as he draws his bow and appears to be aiming directly at Reaver, only to shoot down a monkey several feet behind him.]

Ianchus Cepheos | Original Character | will match format!
Ianchus has only really had the chance to see monkeys in cages, packed into crates in ships passing through Kyrthassa. They were always a little unsettling to him, the way they seemed almost human as they stared back at him, baring their teeth in their pointy little grins. Ianchus would bare his teeth back and then leave.
These monkeys are much larger than the cat-sized beasts, and, oh hell they’ve weapons and wings of all things.
They dive and pull his hair, but Ianchus is a little too hefty for them to carry away. Once one has grabbed him he can grab its scrawny arm in return, throwing it into the ground or at its comrades. But his sword and his buckler can only do so much to block enemies that swoop in from all angles and then fly out of his reach. All he can think of is to run, grab the heavier-looking prosthetics, and lob them with all the strength of his arm at the monsters. It…sort of works.
Hm.
He realizes he’s never fought airborne enemies before.
He notes the exit of the Colloseum, though, and decides to beat hell out of there. That is, until he notices someone who seems to be struggling with the Monkeys. He immediately turns, shouting:
“The exit’s that way! I can distract them!”
Even as he runs into the fray.
02. Hot Springs | OTA
As soon as Ianchus manages to escape the Colloseum’s denizens (they didn’t seem to follow him, small blessings) he takes a moment to catch his breath. Newbie Guide looks promising, and oh…
Oh…
A hot spring.
Okay, alright, it’s painfully Carrahn of him, but he hasn’t been to a bath house in forever and a hot spring is similar, and oh, oh, after the running and slashing he’s worked up a sweat.
He makes it to the hot springs, following the directions from the phone, and strips off his clothes, sinking luxuriously into the hot water.
Ahh, it almost scalds him, but it feels wonderful! Though he doesn’t entirely realize this, he’s lucky to be here while only the secondary sun is out—he has no idea of the heat yet.
Hearing a sound behind him he looks up, noticing the other person. He offers them a smile. “Join me?”
03. Past the Gates | Closed to Avisheh
Ianchus had managed to escape the strange arena and the monkeys, and had even made a friend! He had been lucky, really—he was good at timing his blows, but only when the opponent was coming at him from the same plane he was on. But he had managed to line it up, managed to swing his sword directly into a monkey that was diving at him with its spear. His blow hit true, his sword cleaving the monster in half, and the monkey had…kept going. Right into him.
And now here he was, drenched in monkey gore, and perhaps scraped up, according to the lovely lady doctor he had met. That’s right, at least he’d made a friend. Friend? Well, a companion, at least. Dr. Razi, of the strange, beautiful false legs. It had been her he had fought off the monkey for instead of just running out of there, but it was always worthwhile to help someone.
“Perhaps these will guide us?” He asks, holding up the strange phone he picked up. He fumbles with it, but any attempt to use it is hampered by both his never seeing one of these before and by the blood caking his fingers and making the touch screen impossible to use.

She pulls hers out of her shorts pocket and immediately notices the pre-installed file labeled "Welcome Guide".
"'Welcome to Hadriel'... Guess they've got a lot of off-world people coming here. Weird. Thought that was unique to the Nexus," she says, as if that explains anything to someone not quite as 'in-the-know' about different worlds.
She scrolls past all the words -- tl;dr to pore over later -- and pulls up the attached map. She shows it to Ianchus.

Rey • Star Wars
Part One (Kylo Ren): The elevator is cold and sterile, the sounds of it moving upwards a soft soothing sound that should be anything but that. They're making their way to a precipice, and she can feel it, the anxiety that is working inside of him, tinging the complicated feelings she feels through the bond. She steps closer, beseeches him, and in response he brings up that one topic she's buried so deeply she can't address. It's like a nightmare, every time she tries to think about it clearly. She cant look right at it, even if she wanted to. 'I know who your parents are.' She doesn't want to know, doesn't want to think about it, and steps back as the doors to the elevator open, and hot air floods the once sterile feeling space.
Rey turns, the door open to the dusty insides of a Colosseum, and it's such a shift in reality that she simply tucks her chin and blinks in shock, and she barely ducks a flying creature with a spear before she turns back to her companion, surprised again by the disappearance of the elevator itself. Another creature dives at her and she stumbles further back from Kylo Ren, throwing up her shackled arms to keep from getting gored with a long dagger, the clang! of the blade bouncing off the metal echoing through the Colosseum.
"Ben!"
Part Two (OTA): Some time later she gets separated from her companion, his presence in her mind still there, and even without seeing him she can sense that he's fine. Some of the others here are not, and Rey runs full tilt towards a combatant who is struggling with a creature. She shouts, a rather frightening battle cry, before she lops off the head of the monster in one fell swoop, her lightsaber crackling as it arches through the air as if meeting no resistance. She sticks her hand out, looking around quickly to make sure no other creatures intended to swoop in.
"Are you ok?"
She's never been in a place where food was plentiful, having to bite and scratch and fight for every scrap of food, every sip of water. In her travels she's not had time to really understand or appreciate the wonders of well greened worlds, too busy running too and from things to look at the trees for fruit or nuts or other such treats. Here though (despite the dangers) she has found trees flourishing with life and fruit and Rey finds a very nice branch to sling herself up in, the loose spans of fabric hanging from her clothes knotted around all different bundles of fruits for the tasting. They're certain to stain, but she cares very little, taking a bite out of an apple and groaning in delight as the sweet flesh explodes in her mouth. Delicious.
Rey finishes the apple, chewing down to the core and then licking the rest of the juice from the edges, so focused on the fruit that she doesnt notice the other person until they're nearly directly under her tree. She leans forward, bracing her forearm on the branch before carefully lobbing the core at the other person, smiling.
"Are you lost?"

Floki | Vikings | OTA
Floki had never seen anything quite like it before! The sheer grandeur of the building, despite its state of ruin, was still something of a marvel to see. Floki could just tell this old building was the site of many a great sight! The architecture, the design, marvellous~
As he stumbled around, looking up and back over his shoulder, Floki became very aware, very fast that he was no longer in his humble home on the outskirts of Kattegat. No, he was somewhere far more lively, far more strange.
Slipping the axe from his belt loop and holding it close to his chest, Floki narrowed his brow yet raised his eyes as he noticed all the other lost looking people who seemed to be running from something?
In a swoop of wings, a growing shadow soon descended on Floki. A beast like none other! Winged, tailed and almost human in figure with claws as sharp as swords and a screeching sound that terrified poor Floki. Instincts kicked in and Floki ducked down, sidestepping out of its way, that's when something shiny and strange caught his eye. A metallic limb of some kind? How very queer. Floki glanced back up at the beast as it seemed to fly onwards, making to turn and double back around for him. Running in the direction of the fiend, Floki skidded down on his knees, gathering up the shiny, strange object in one hand while raising, swinging and finally tossing his axe up in the air.
He came to a stand then after that, curious as he looked his new find over. Was it some kind of hand? Whoever crafted this was a master in joints and mechanics, something he'd have only dreamed of! Possibly Dwarven in make? Seemingly nonchalant, Floki walked forwards, still admiring his find until stopping right before where a dead flying beast would fall from the sky. He placed one foot over the creature, and one hand pulled and yanked his axe out of its skull.
"What a strange place this is. Not of Midgard, no... Yet nothing like I've heard of Valhalla."
Floki knew the stories, of walking to the gates, the Wolf sat at its side, yet the gate he came through was invisible and far less welcoming. What world had he been brought to and for what purpose?
As he pondered over his predicament, Floki carefully and slyly managed to avoid any more attacks from those flying beasts. Instead, he waited until others fell victim to them and collected up their belongings instead. Ever watchful, ever resourceful.
2. Around the City
After some time scavenging, Floki managed to find his way out of the Colosseum and into the more populated part of the City. There were so many strange things to see, even in comparison to the Churches and places of worship he raided in Wessex this place seemed strange, alien even.
With his arms full of goodies he'd plundered and pillaged along the way, Floki tried very hard to simply blend in and go unnoticed as he approached and passed people along the way. It wasn't until he came to a street of stores and shops, like some odd marketplace that he finally stopped and looked around, letting himself stand out.
"I don't think I like it here."
He said to himself, pushing to hold all of his wares in one arm, using the other to make a gesture at his forehead with his forefinger and thumb, something of a prayer Floki often did in times of trouble.
"Maybe I have wandered to Nástrǫnd? ... If so, then I should tread very carefully indeed..."

"Well, then... I beg your pardon," he says to it, furrowing his brow a bit in concern. He doesn't know if these... things are truly interrupting history, but he certainly has no orders to dispose of them. And as long as he doesn't, he plans to avoid doing so to the best of his ability. Besides, so long as he his unaware of his location or orders, he should remain undercover as much as possible. However, with how aggressive his new... companion appears to be, it's proving more and more difficult.
"If you would excuse me, I would rather step away, if that's alright with you." Is it intelligent? He isn't certain. He turns to leave, keeping his eye on the beast as he steps away. But the monster is swift to launch an attack at him. It's only a blink, but a blade slides out from Saint Germain's sleeve to counter the monster. It slices into the monkey's hand, but not enough to slice it all the way off.
Saint Germain doesn't seem to be breaking a sweat as he keeps a steady hold against the beast as it screams in retaliation against the pain in it's hand.
"I ask that you stand down, if you can understand." His voice is calculated, but stern. "I have no desire to fight you. Please walk away."
But the monkey isn't giving in, and advances again on Saint Germain. With a heavy sigh, Saint Germain slices through and finishes the job, dropping the poor animal to it's unfortunate end. He cleans his dagger off with a handkerchief, giving a moment of silence to the creature.
"Well, I'm sorry you had to witness that." He turns to Floki after the moment of quiet. Casually, as if he knew the other man was there all along, waiting. So, it's just natural that the one time she stays away is the time the creatures decide to come to her. Flying monsters. Girl almost prefers the Null.
Being lifted off her feet is nothing new. She's small enough that she's been manhandled more than once in her life. But she's not used to being in the air like this, the ground growing further and further away. She swings her arms and legs to try to make the creature drop her, even as stupid as that would be at the height. She screams to the only figure she sees beneath her, too busy trashing to place the face. She sees red hair and that's enough to make her panicked mind think of her leader.]

Oh, crap!
[ instinctively, keyleth books it toward girl until she's nearly directly underneath. she drops her goods, letting everything scatter across the ground as her hands dip and raise into the air. and with them sprout spindly yellowed vines, thinner and more brittle than she's used to. but they lengthen at an impossible speed, growing up, up, up! twenty feet in the air, they wrap around girl's foot before climbing up and around to grab the monkey as well.
and then they yank, bringing both girl and her attacker back toward the ground at the same incredible speed. she never thinks these things through-- that even as she's helping, she can hurt too. ]
