Intro Log: Fly, My Pretties!

What: The intro log for May
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: May 10th-14th
Warnings: Flying monkeys! New friends! Prosthetic limbs!

Here in Hadriel, we do introductions right. That means dumping you on the ground of an old Roman-style Colosseum with a bunch of scary monsters and also a bunch of weird shit. Your monster of the day happens to be Winged Monkeys, more commonly known as flying monkeys, from the Wizard of Oz and affiliated stories!

As you may have been able to guess, these creatures can fly and they're rather intelligent- intelligent enough to wield spears and daggers as crude weapons and strong enough to pick someone right up off the ground and fly with them to a perch, where they'll... you know, stab them with their knives and stuff.

Why? We don't know. It's Hadriel.

Just in case you lose a couple of limbs in the process of escaping these critters, we've got you covered. Scattered around the newbies are prosthetic limbs for various body parts. These limbs are all fully functional, even if they look a bit... odd, so if you've lost an arm or two, or a leg, or even a pinkie finger, feel free to grab one and try to figure out how to use it!

Good job dealing with those monkeys! It's kind of a weird thing to be threatening, but clearly someone was afraid of them once. Once you're done, you can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Okay.

[Says Quentin, turning in place, orienting himself to the right direction.]

I'm Quentin.

[disequilibrium]

[ The introduction warrants a brief nod of acknowledgment before they start towards the temple. ]

Kylo Ren.

[ With the barest of pleasantries taken care of, Kylo falls silent. Temporarily, at least, as they start to make their way through the city. ]

[magician_king]

[Quentin is quiet as they walk, only pausing once or twice to figure out directions.]

Through here, I think.

[disequilibrium]

[ As they arrive, Kylo takes a moment to observe. The structure in front of them shows little resemblance to any temple or spiritual destination he can recall—dark or light. Yet there’s no doubt in his mind that this is the place. Its very design seems to represent being supposedly tied to it. Sorrow.

He walks forward steadily forward only to falter at the entrance itself. ]

There’s... something here. A presence.

[ A compulsion, rather. He senses its energy in the Force before it hits. As it does, he takes a step back, fighting against the sudden weight of misery. ]

Be careful.

[magician_king]

It's really- tangible, isn't it?

[Says Quentin, much more quietly now. He thinks of Alice, and everything he left behind.]

Jesus.

[Another couple of steps forward.]

I don't know if it's right that we should be here. [He isn't the kind of person who stops walking on just a suspicion, though. He moves deeper inside, glancing back over his shoulder at him, then up and at the ceiling, taking in the architecture.] It's like nothing from my home.

[disequilibrium]

[ Kylo takes a harsh breath, centering himself. The pressure isn’t particularly strong but when it has so much to pull from... ]

There are places in the galaxy with similar effects.

[ Lands where the balance of the Force is tipped too far to one side or the other can be... difficult, on individuals sensitive enough to detect them. He’s studied a handful of them and encountered the sensation itself a few times. Usually, the consequences are minor or even beneficial. An improved connection with the side you choose to draw from, for example.

But that’s not always the case. ]

Though none of them felt like this.

[ Feeling steadier, he pushes ahead as well. ]

It feels like death.

[He says, which isn't just an expression, it's a literal fact- this feels like how it felt to walk into the afterlife.]

And I can't block it out.

[He should normally be able to resist this.]
