Here in Hadriel, we do introductions right. That means dumping you on the ground of an old Roman-style Colosseum with a bunch of scary monsters and also a bunch of weird shit. Your monster of the day happens to be Winged Monkeys, more commonly known as flying monkeys, from the Wizard of Oz and affiliated stories!
As you may have been able to guess, these creatures can fly and they're rather intelligent- intelligent enough to wield spears and daggers as crude weapons and strong enough to pick someone right up off the ground and fly with them to a perch, where they'll... you know, stab them with their knives and stuff.
Why? We don't know. It's Hadriel.
Just in case you lose a couple of limbs in the process of escaping these critters, we've got you covered. Scattered around the newbies are prosthetic limbs for various body parts. These limbs are all fully functional, even if they look a bit... odd, so if you've lost an arm or two, or a leg, or even a pinkie finger, feel free to grab one and try to figure out how to use it!
Good job dealing with those monkeys! It's kind of a weird thing to be threatening, but clearly someone was afraid of them once. Once you're done, you can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers May 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Kat squints, trying to get her bearings. No dice, not when she just woke up here and oh right, her arm. ]
Yeah.
[ She pulls her hand off the wound. It's the first time she gets a good look at it. Her sleeve is torn where the spear pierced through, and the edges are dark and sticky with blood. ]
Looks pretty deep, doesn't it. [ She tries to smirk, but it comes out more like a grimace. ] This is all really weird. Monkeys with eings and spears. This... uh, sunny place. Can we find some shade? I'm pretty pale.

[He hesitates a moment, not sure how she'll take this, but he's definitely going to ask anyway--]
I can heal you, at least a little, if that's okay with you. You won't feel anything, and I'm concerned about you walking any further while bleeding so much.
[Hence why he isn't immediately agreeing to her request to get out of the sun.]

[ It's almost like she thinks your healing spell could go haywire and hurt her, Lance. ]
You sure you're not gonna, I dunno, miss a beat and fry me instead?
no subject
[The concern and the question make him smile just a little, because--]
When I first got here I was really worried about letting anyone use magic to heal me, so I get it. But no, I'm not going to fry you, it'll be fine.

[ Kat, the girl who once took a drug called 'jump' and leapt off a building at least six stories high when she had no guarantee jump would work its magic on her, and who has made more bad decisions than she'll ever remember, shuts her eyes at the prospect of trying something that will help her out, and nods. ]
Okay, do your thing.

[Lance says it dryly, knowing better than most what it feels like, but pushes that out of mind for now. He needs to focus.]
Okay, I'm going to touch your arm, and it'll probably feel warm or tingly or both.
[And the warning given, he gently touches her arm, closes his eyes, and concentrates; it's a simple enough spell and comes naturally to him, and he can feel it working immediately.
A moment later he opens his eyes to see that it has indeed worked, and although it isn't completely healed it's definitely much better than before. And, most importantly, it isn't bleeding any longer.]
Done. You'll still need to get it checked out at the clinic, though; I think Dr. Rosen should be there at the moment, and he's actually qualified to do stitches if you still need them.

Kat grins, glancing up at Lance witb a smile, a 'thanks' on her tongue until he says a familiar name. ]
Rosen? As in... old dude, beard, glasses?
no subject
But the questions quickly distract him, and he furrows his eyebrows slightly in interest.]
Likes to lecture, eats questionable grasses?
no subject
That's the one. [ And now, a bit less comically, ] He's here? I thought...
[ The whole mess at Grand Central was less than an hour ago. He was, more than likely, killed by Stanton Parrish's super photostimulator. Hell, Kat herself might be dead from an overload of her ability.
...she can't just tell this guy that, though. Sure, he seems all right, but how many people seem fine and are batshit and bent on mass murder, for example? Besides, some people hate Alphas and want them locked up, killed, or worse. Binghamton is proof of that. ]
I thought he was at Grand Central.
[ Smooth. ]
Anyway, thanks. I'll go get this checked out at the clinic. I'm Kat.
no subject
[So yeah, he'll let her get to the Clinic, which he points out the correct direction of.]
Nice to meet you, Kat; I'm Lance. I'm sure we'll run into each other again, but hopefully with better circumstances.
[In other words, no flying monkeys, wtf. Speaking of, though, he needs to get back to the arena, and she seems okay to get to the clinic on her own--it's so close, after all--so he'll give her a small smile and wave of farewell for now.]
