What: The intro log for May
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: May 10th-14th
Warnings: Flying monkeys! New friends! Prosthetic limbs!

Here in Hadriel, we do introductions right. That means dumping you on the ground of an old Roman-style Colosseum with a bunch of scary monsters and also a bunch of weird shit. Your monster of the day happens to be Winged Monkeys, more commonly known as flying monkeys, from the Wizard of Oz and affiliated stories!

As you may have been able to guess, these creatures can fly and they're rather intelligent- intelligent enough to wield spears and daggers as crude weapons and strong enough to pick someone right up off the ground and fly with them to a perch, where they'll... you know, stab them with their knives and stuff.

Why? We don't know. It's Hadriel.

Just in case you lose a couple of limbs in the process of escaping these critters, we've got you covered. Scattered around the newbies are prosthetic limbs for various body parts. These limbs are all fully functional, even if they look a bit... odd, so if you've lost an arm or two, or a leg, or even a pinkie finger, feel free to grab one and try to figure out how to use it!

Good job dealing with those monkeys! It's kind of a weird thing to be threatening, but clearly someone was afraid of them once. Once you're done, you can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Yeah, if you like being sent through world portals and stuck in hell cities, sure.

[He gives her a little two fingered salute from his temple, grip lazy and movement fluid.]

Charmed. You, I mean. I'm a gift. So you uh, wanna get out of here or keep getting mauled by fantasy planet of the apes dropouts?

I'm sure hell cities can be fun, for as long as they remain in existence.

[But, you know, if this world gets Destroyed while she's on it, at least she fucked up the Separator's day when she finds out. That's the best way to go out: petty to the end.]

Yeah, let's ditch the rabies-beasts.

[She picks up her cane and holds it at the ready like a weapon, just in case more monkeys get fresh with them. She's sure this Taako can hold his own regardless, though she can't just trust him to look out for her too. Sorry Taako.]

[Honestly, it's a really good policy, because fuck if Taako can really be trusted to take care of any other person ever. He laughs at her stance, though, and starts making for the door, glaive still in hand. Thankfully, the monkeys have kind of started steering clear of him at this point, having seen too many of their brethren get zapped, so at least he makes it to the edge without much trouble.

Once he does, he looks over to her, still grinning.]

I hope you don't expect me to give you the big tour and whatever. Do you know how phones work? There's a map on the thing.

[She narrows her eyes at him.]

Do I look like I don't know how phones work?

[She's not exactly the tunic wearing whelp she was when she first came to the Nexus, that's for sure. And... yeah, maybe she took too much offense to that.]

I mean, yes, I know. Thanks for the info. I don't take tours anyway.

[For a multitude of reasons, one including the fact that she was very much bringing up the rear on their foray out of the coliseum. Using a walking cane for defense rather than balance does come with its share of disadvantages.]

Are there no more monsters outside the arena?

[The streets around them look positively empty in comparison. And also annoyingly sandy.]

[He kinda moves his hands up in a defensive motion when she suddenly starts getting snappy, rolling his eyes.]

Hey man, plenty of people around here without that tech, fuck if I know. Didn't wanna explain it to you anyway.

[At least there's another, easier questiom being presented.]

Anyway, uh, nah, city's clear. Hope fixed it up recently. Before that it was pretty shitty. But I'd say you can use that more like a walking stick and less like a whacking stick from now on.

[Hey, she's kinda had a weird day. You can only take so much in stride. But she doesn't apologize, doesn't acknowledge, and moves on, propping herself up on her cane properly now.]

Is no one here a native? I mean, this place looks like it survived an apocalypse. Or... didn't, more like.

[I mean, he won't either, so no hard feelings right?]

Nnnnope. Not even the liches up top are really from here. All just boned by the Door. Some of it doesn't suck, if you put in the legwork.

[Great phrase to someone who walks with a cane, numbnuts.]

[Everyone is saying lich, what the fuck is a lich. Actually, this guy looks a lot like the other person that was saying lich, come to think of it.]

I'm used to putting in extra legwork.

[Ha, ha. Her legs are better than everyone's here, fuck all y'all. Are yours detachable? That's what I thought, fucko.]

[Apropos of nothing.]

[He's the one who got that one down pat, so that one's a Taako brand original. And his aren't detachable, but he can become like, anything he wants basically. So it probably evens out. Still, she says sister, and he debates if he really wants to mess with her-- but also, the thought of not being associated with Lup kind of hurts, so maybe not.]

Best one around, yyyyup. Can't believe you didn't catch that one sooner, like, we're twins, duh.

[She laughs.]

Hey, I've just arrived in another world entirely, full of people I've never met and places I've never been. You guys make a lasting impression, at least.

Uh, of course we do. Nobody makes a splash like us.

[How could you forget? Well, we're not going down that route right now, are we.]

Aaaaanyway. I'm not gonna sit around and tour you, so you need anything else? I'm leaving in 5 no matter what answer you give me.

[Avisheh tries to keep a straight face. She sure tries.]

[He doesn't. Taako just barks out a laugh.]

Nnnnope. Also, only into dude shaped people. Hit up my sister, though, sometimes she and her husband stop being gross long enough to appreciate someone else's tits.

[She can't help it, she bursts into laughter, too.]
