Here in Hadriel, we do introductions right. That means dumping you on the ground of an old Roman-style Colosseum with a bunch of scary monsters and also a bunch of weird shit. Your monster of the day happens to be Winged Monkeys, more commonly known as flying monkeys, from the Wizard of Oz and affiliated stories!
As you may have been able to guess, these creatures can fly and they're rather intelligent- intelligent enough to wield spears and daggers as crude weapons and strong enough to pick someone right up off the ground and fly with them to a perch, where they'll... you know, stab them with their knives and stuff.
Why? We don't know. It's Hadriel.
Just in case you lose a couple of limbs in the process of escaping these critters, we've got you covered. Scattered around the newbies are prosthetic limbs for various body parts. These limbs are all fully functional, even if they look a bit... odd, so if you've lost an arm or two, or a leg, or even a pinkie finger, feel free to grab one and try to figure out how to use it!
Good job dealing with those monkeys! It's kind of a weird thing to be threatening, but clearly someone was afraid of them once. Once you're done, you can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers May 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

...Ianchus allows himself a bit longer (not too long, of course, but perhaps a few minutes more than he'd normally take) to enjoy the shower. Sure the water takes a while to warm up, but he relishes feeling his hair return to its normal texture as he scrubs the gore out, and enjoys the feeling of the stream on his muscles.
Everything is somewhat hitting him--that he's somehow ended up in a different place (a different world?) where monsters and magic don't just seem to be a theory.
He turns off the water and steps out, glancing at his clothes. His breeches didn't get too much blood on them, but he's loathe to get into even those, not when he's just gotten clean, so he wraps the towel he was using to dry himself around his waist instead.
That squared away, he wanders out, looking for his companion once more.

Gods. This might be a challenge. But Dr. Razi certainly has no problem meeting that challenge. The patients might not be too thrilled about it, though.
By the time Ianchus comes out of the shower, she's settled into a rolling chair and started reading through the welcome message properly. She's thumbing through the list of offered skills being taught now, out of reading material -- oh fun, there are people teaching lockpicking -- when she glances up at the man who just walked out in only a towel, and then she double takes.
She whistles teasingly.
"We can probably find you more clothes later. So get this: the ones in charge around here are apparent 'gods'," and she absolutely uses finger quotes, "who use our emotions to charge their powers and keep us safe from killer robots. Also, the supplies here? Not great."

Also, finger quotes are far after his time, but he has inferred the meaning of the gesture, and will absolutely be using that at some point.
"Killer...robots? Gods?" Ianchus walks over, pulling a chair and sitting down as well. "That's, ah. Well." He blinks a few times. "I...I actually don't know what to say." And he laughs. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, after the flying monkeys."
Energetic as he is, he suddenly feels a little tired. He puts his fingertips to his temple briefly, and then drops them, reasserting his smile.

She reads from the guide, "Hope, Fear, Rage, Tranquility, Confusion, and Love. There are apparently more out there, too. But all the people here, they came from different worlds at random and are forced to live here for... a random amount of time. Some for years, some for less."
no subject
He pushes that out of his mind, running over the Gods.
"Most of those emotions don't seem pleasant." Maybe he could appreciate Fear, but certainly not Rage. Nor Confusion. And he's never really felt tranquil, at least not without the help of some substance.

At least Avisheh is more inclined to roll with the punches. She definitely would miss home if she stayed here for years, and fully intends to return and finish her plot against the Separator, but she's sure that will work itself out. And with a Nature of Disorder, she thrives in chaos regardless.
"Well, if you're gonna be here for years, Ianchus, you should probably get some clothes to wear."
no subject
"I don't know, this is quite comfortable, considering how warm this place is. Perhaps I'll allow myself some freedom."
no subject
"I don't know if the City Guard will arrest anyone for public indecency. Maybe you'll get off scot-free even if you decided to forego the towel. You could be the town nudist."
And here she is in all black, suffering the heat! But she's far less likely to want to risk brushing the wrong side of the law so soon after arriving. At least not so brazenly. Maybe later, and more subtly. If there are laws to be had.
no subject
But I suppose, before that all goes through, I should find something." Ianchus absolutely does not sound like he wants to, though he does glance at Avisheh's clothes.
"I imagine you'd probably like something lighter, too?"
no subject
It's the common fashion of the Nexus to wear monochromatic dress with the occasional accent color, but Avisheh doesn't wear more white than she has to. At least she's wearing shorts. Only most of her legs aren't flesh, so that does her only a little good.
