Where: The colosseum and all around the city.

Warnings: Flying monkeys! New friends! Prosthetic limbs!
Here in Hadriel, we do introductions right. That means dumping you on the ground of an old Roman-style Colosseum with a bunch of scary monsters and also a bunch of weird shit. Your monster of the day happens to be Winged Monkeys, more commonly known as flying monkeys, from the Wizard of Oz and affiliated stories!
As you may have been able to guess, these creatures can fly and they're rather intelligent- intelligent enough to wield spears and daggers as crude weapons and strong enough to pick someone right up off the ground and fly with them to a perch, where they'll... you know, stab them with their knives and stuff.
Why? We don't know. It's Hadriel.
Just in case you lose a couple of limbs in the process of escaping these critters, we've got you covered. Scattered around the newbies are prosthetic limbs for various body parts. These limbs are all fully functional, even if they look a bit... odd, so if you've lost an arm or two, or a leg, or even a pinkie finger, feel free to grab one and try to figure out how to use it!
Good job dealing with those monkeys! It's kind of a weird thing to be threatening, but clearly someone was afraid of them once. Once you're done, you can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers May 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

she encounters Bruce just as she passes the Coliseum and is so confused by the creature he has slung over his shoulder that she just has to ask]
What's that you've got there?
no subject
[He says, and drops it- it's nearly human sized, and just as heavy, with the wings. The little clothes look especially sinister somehow.]
They came at us inside there.
[Gesturing at the building back over his shoulder.]
no subject
My goodness. What will they throw at people next?
[she stoops to the ground next to it and examines its clothing]
I suppose that's one thing I can say for the so-called gods, they don't lack for creativity.
no subject
[He asks, without needing to ask if it is. He remembers everything, now, and too clearly. Bruce puts his hands in the small of his back, squints up at the sun, and scrubs the dirt off his face.]
What happened?
no subject
no subject
I've been gone awhile.
[Letting out a long breath, toeing at his corpse.]
How's food supplies?
no subject
Oh, so you were here before? This must all seem very strange to you.
[she eyes the corpse curiously. why is it clothed?]
Food was difficult to come by after the Null attack. Hope was far too weakened to provide for us. However, many of us went on missions to help Hope regain his strength, so now food is regularly available.
no subject
[He admits, and steps back from the body, in that case.]
I'm Doctor Banner. Could you- tell me again what the Nulls are?
no subject
[she moves her skirt so there's no chance of it touching the dead monkey]
It's a pleasure to meet you, Doctor Banner. My name is Margaery Tyrell, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
Of course. First, the Null posted to the network, offering their help in returning to our homes in exchange for killing Hope. Apparently, they didn't get as warm a reception as they'd hoped for they later posted a list of names of people to be killed in exchange for a god-killing weapon. As the list had children on it, that united the city against the Null, although some played along to get access to one of the weapons or obtain more information about the Null.
The Null are what you'd likely call robots. They have no emotions and fear the so-called gods who can induce emotions in them. They're not easy to kill, having a [she stumbles a bit over the next thing] CPU buried deep within them. Many people died in the city's defense. However, when Fear moved the city, he cut the Null off from their source of reinforcements. After that, the only thing left to do was to kill all of the remaining Null to ensure that none of them could send a message to their fellows, telling them where we'd gone.

[He's not frustrated with her, and he gives her an apologetic wince. It's just this place, just his life.]
We've got more kids around now?
[There weren't that many, when he was here.]
no subject
[she sounds sympathetic. Hadriel even before the Null was peculiar and after the Null, that peculiarity has only increased]
We used to. The Door eventually sent all but Eleven and Ellie home.
no subject
[He says, and then perks up;]
I think I know Ellie, though. Brown hair, freckles?
[They killed bears together, back in the day.]
no subject
[Margaery nods]
I know her but a little, but that sounds like her.
no subject
[And, looking down at himself, taking stock of the blood staining the forearm of his shirt.]
I have to find the clinic, too.
no subject
[yes, that's quite a lot of blood]
Would you like directions? The old clinic was destroyed by the Null.
no subject
[And, because he doesn't remember if he has or not-]
I'm Doctor Banner. I really appreciate the help.
no subject
[he has, but he hasn't given a first name yet]
It's my pleasure, so there's no need to thank me.
no subject
[He remembers, as he starts walking. He's so disoriented.]
Queen Margaery. [Very, very belatedly now, as his brain catches up with his mouth.] I'm sorry your- majesty?
no subject
Please, there's no need to stand on ceremony. Just Margaery is fine.
So you're a doctor? What are you a doctor of?
no subject
[He says, because he's not going to list the various subjects of his many PhD's.]
Where are the Seven Kingdoms, what world?
no subject
[she asks, bracing herself for more mockery about how little she knows]
We don't actually have a name for it, but the Seven Kingdoms are on a continent called Westeros. All but the Iron Islands.
no subject
[He answers, absolutely happy to explain. Bruce, unlike certain other geniuses he knows, has a way of making any question sound like a good question, the right one to have asked.]
Westeros- that actually sounds familiar.
no subject
[which she appreciates. she's used to people acting like she's a simpleton for not understanding technology and concepts far above her world's capabilities]
It does? Have you met Sansa Stark, Jon Snow, or Daenerys Targaryen?
no subject
[He says, thinking hard, but not graping it, not quite yet. His memories of living here before are too vague, and Arya spent far too long insisting she had no name.
It'll probably click when he sees Sansa, but for now, he shakes his head, assuming he must be mistaken.]
Just a fragment, I guess.
no subject
[Arya was here for a while when Margaery was here, during the tail end of the Null attack. she left not long after]
Memories can be awfully tricky things.
