Intro Log: Fly, My Pretties!

What: The intro log for May
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: May 10th-14th
Warnings: Flying monkeys! New friends! Prosthetic limbs!

Here in Hadriel, we do introductions right. That means dumping you on the ground of an old Roman-style Colosseum with a bunch of scary monsters and also a bunch of weird shit. Your monster of the day happens to be Winged Monkeys, more commonly known as flying monkeys, from the Wizard of Oz and affiliated stories!

As you may have been able to guess, these creatures can fly and they're rather intelligent- intelligent enough to wield spears and daggers as crude weapons and strong enough to pick someone right up off the ground and fly with them to a perch, where they'll... you know, stab them with their knives and stuff.

Why? We don't know. It's Hadriel.

Just in case you lose a couple of limbs in the process of escaping these critters, we've got you covered. Scattered around the newbies are prosthetic limbs for various body parts. These limbs are all fully functional, even if they look a bit... odd, so if you've lost an arm or two, or a leg, or even a pinkie finger, feel free to grab one and try to figure out how to use it!

Good job dealing with those monkeys! It's kind of a weird thing to be threatening, but clearly someone was afraid of them once. Once you're done, you can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[He says, straightening up and dusting his hands off. He couldn't agree more.]

Yeah. Let's go.

[She watches him for a moment before giving a nod of her own.]

Lead the way. You probably know this place a bit better than I do.

[Eventually, she'll have to go to the clinic and figure a few things out. For now she's going to follow Bruce and get the hell out of there.]

Where do you want to go? The towers?

[He asks, as he hoofs it, glancing over his shoulder in case something comes at them from behind.]

[A part of her wants to send vines through the earth. Wants to send them out to see if there's anything in front of them, behind them or to the side of them. She's refraining from doing so though.]

I don't know anything about this place. So the towers works.

[Even if she has no clue what the towers even were.]

They're where people tend to stay when they're new. They're clean, dry, and have a little privacy.

[And that's all you can ask for.]

Mostly safe.

I didn't even know the place existed and I've been here a little bit.

[She found a good place that she's been living at though, with her husband.]

Mostly safe? Meaning things can get in?

Things can get in anywhere here. The gods are the biggest danger, and they can reach you wherever they like?

[Nowhere would be considered safe.]

Then how can anyone be safe if things can get in anywhere? Which god is the biggest danger?

[She doesn't like the idea of a place not being safe, not like this. Though she's also going to store the information in the back of her mind, make sure to tell Aric about this.]

Fear harms us the most often, but Hope is responsible for bringing us here. Both are equally culpable.

[To Bruce, at least.]

It's only those two who are the most dangerous?

[A part of her wonders just how bad off all of them are. Though, he's right. They're both equally responsible.]

How much further?

Those buildings, there.

[He says, pointing ahead.]

I don't know about the rest- I remember Rage was monstrous.

[She looks ahead of them and narrows her eyes a bit before shaking her head and straightening up some.]

What did Rage do exactly the last time you were here?

[He'd definitely caught her attention, that was for sure.]

Made us all decide to kill one another.

[He sets his teeth, hard, before reminding himself not to grind them. There's no dentistry here.]

There was no way around that?

[There was a clinic in Hadriel, wasn't there? However, she's not thinking about what would happen if bones or anything ended up broken.]

Nope. You didn't even know anything was different. The thoughts weren't intrusive, they were simply your own.

We're lucky death isn't permanent.

[poisonprincess]

So he manipulated thoughts that you had and made you kill someone? That's messed up. I couldn't picture anyone that I'd made friends with. I couldn't picture killing them.

[That last bit has her raising a brow though.]

It isn't? What happens when you die here?

It is sometimes, but often the door brings you back.

[He says, now pausing at the steps of one of the towers.]

Well- I'm going to go find somewhere to stay, and to get some sleep.

[poisonprincess]

[She's killed enough people in her past lives, she can't see herself doing that here in this place. Not when she's made a few friends.

Once to the steps of the towers, Evangeline gives him a brief smile.]

It was a pleasure meeting you, Bruce. Stay safe.

[As for her? She'd go back to the home that her and Aric had found for themselves in the place. Her husband would either be there or he wouldn't, she wasn't entirely sure.]
