Intro Log: Fly, My Pretties!

What: The intro log for May
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: May 10th-14th
Warnings: Flying monkeys! New friends! Prosthetic limbs!

Here in Hadriel, we do introductions right. That means dumping you on the ground of an old Roman-style Colosseum with a bunch of scary monsters and also a bunch of weird shit. Your monster of the day happens to be Winged Monkeys, more commonly known as flying monkeys, from the Wizard of Oz and affiliated stories!

As you may have been able to guess, these creatures can fly and they're rather intelligent- intelligent enough to wield spears and daggers as crude weapons and strong enough to pick someone right up off the ground and fly with them to a perch, where they'll... you know, stab them with their knives and stuff.

Why? We don't know. It's Hadriel.

Just in case you lose a couple of limbs in the process of escaping these critters, we've got you covered. Scattered around the newbies are prosthetic limbs for various body parts. These limbs are all fully functional, even if they look a bit... odd, so if you've lost an arm or two, or a leg, or even a pinkie finger, feel free to grab one and try to figure out how to use it!

Good job dealing with those monkeys! It's kind of a weird thing to be threatening, but clearly someone was afraid of them once. Once you're done, you can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

You bet I wanna race.

[He's pretty sure that she'll win on the fact that she's way quicker than he is, but maybe having a really overpowered weapon will give him the edge against her.]

[Just barely.]

On your marks, get set, GO!

[With one last "WHOO" he races to the enemies on their right and begins swinging.]

[ She laughs as she speeds to the left, daggers in hands, ready to take down as many of these creatures as she can.

She's feeling happy, excited, a renowned energy coursing through her. It's not that great that Magnus has ended up stuck in this place again, but there's relief in seeing recognition in his eyes again. She wonders, vaguely, if he remembers being here. How does time even work in this case? Everyone else will be happy to see him, no doubt having the same dissonance in their feelings, but just happy to have the big guy back. They're allowed some selfishness in this, and so is she.

It's a few minutes of hacking and slashing, and jumping and stabbing, and dodging these weird flying monkeys. Aggressive little fuckers, one of them does get her, but there won't be seconds. After a while, there's a few of them down, and others retreating, and she can hear Magnus no doubt action-surging these monkeys to hell.]

How you holding up, Mags?

[He's in the middle of throwing his lance at a few of the monkeys as she calls out to him. Once the lance hits its mark, he holds his hand out to call it back to his hand. He's got a few cuts from some stabbing attempts, but overall he's doing well against the flying monkeys.]

I haven't died yet, so I'm gonna say it's going pretty good right now!

[ What's a couple of more scars on a fighter, right? Magnus always shines brightest in battle.]

Almost done on this side! [ She flips over one of the monkeys as it lunges at her, roundhouse kicking it as its weapon gets stuck on the ground.]
