You wake up on the 14th, and something is different. Maybe it's something small - you can't smell anything, or your hearing on one side seems to be on the fritz. Or it could be something large and impossible to miss - you've gone completely blind, or you seem to be missing a leg. You've lost something, and no matter what you do, you can't seem to fix it.
Will you ever get it back? Probably, but it's impossible to be sure. And even if you're thoroughly convinced that this is temporary, that still means you have to figure out how to live like this for the next week. Even small things can be huge difficulties. Your sense of taste doesn't seem that important, until you accidentally eat something that'll make you sick. And sure, maybe you can figure out how to live without one hand, but what about when you wake up three days from now and you've also lost your magic?
Do your best to keep yourself calm, but remember: it can always get worse.► This log covers May 14th-May 20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If your lost sense turns out to have been essential to your survival, please let us know here.

[Yusuke wakes up to the sight of... nothing. At first he wonders if it's simply the middle of the night, before it occurs to him 'night' is a brief phenomenon on this planet, and it's certainly never as dark as this. He stumbles to reach for the blinds to open them, but even as he feels the heat from the rising suns outside, it's dark. He can't see the familiar view from his window, even when the sensations around him tell him that he should.
Panicking, he blinks, and again. Then he reaches up to his face, as if he might find something there -- a mask? a blindfold? -- that might explain away why he can't see. He scrabbles at his skin with mounting panic and desperation, not even caring if he scratches himself, it's a minor concern compared to the fact he might be...
He stumbles out into the hallway, using his memory of the apartment and a hand braced against the wall to get him through.]
Akira? [He asks in a weak voice, straining his ears to listen. Is Akira awake yet? Is his door open? He has no idea, but he's desperate for his friend's help.] Akira, are you there?

[Once Yusuke's had time to gather his wits and, while not coming to accept his condition, at least finding the wherewithal to try to adapt to it, he tries to learn to find his way around the city. He's using a cane to try to guide himself and to avoid tripping on the rocky terrain, with mixed results.
Maybe he bumps into you or stumbles into your path. Or maybe you can find him hiding away in the park, his face buried in his hands.]
An artist who can't see... I'm ruined...

--oh! I'm so terribly sorry! I can't see where I'm going.
no subject
Ah-- The fault is also mine, my sight has failed me as well...
no subject
Yours as well? The so-called gods are cruel. But I know your voice, don't I?
no subject
[Even in their predicament, he can't help but want to be polite and respectful, especially given he just bumped into her.]
no subject
[she appreciates that and assumes that he, too, has lost his sight, given how they collided. however, she doesn't want to assume]

Yusuke?
no subject
Cepheos-san...?
no subject
[He can sense the despair in that thin frame, and he makes the connection that Yusuke hasn't been spared whatever is happening to him, to many of the other residents. So instead of asking if something is wrong...]
What is it? Are you alright?
no subject
[A rational part of him hopes this is only temporary, but another part of him worries it won't be. If this is the latest attempt by the gods to draw emotions from them, and if those emotions are needed for extended periods of time, then...]
I don't know what to do. [He bows his head, voice trembling.] As I am now, I'm of no use to anyone.
no subject
But he shakes those romantic notions off, kneeling down in front of Yusuke now, so he's still talking to his bowed face.]
Is there anything I can do for you right now? Do you need help getting somewhere? Finding something?
[sure, he's lost his strength, but he can guide him, at least. His voice is gentle as he talks, as soothing as he can make it.

Kitagawa...? [ There's no -kun, and no forced pleasantries because, to put it bluntly, Akechi doesn't care to keep up with his charade-- around the Phantom Thieves, at least. And though his voice is a lot rougher than usual, it should still be recognizable. ]
What happened to you...?
[ Well. Aside from the fact he can't see shit. That much is pretty obvious. ]
no subject
But a more reasonable part of him realises that if Akechi wanted to take advantage of his state to attack, he'd have done so already. Unless maybe he's the type that likes to gloat first...
Trying not to let that tension get the better of him, he tightens his grip on the cane and frowns.]
The so-called "gods" happened to me, I can only assume. [He's bitter -- he's been here long enough for this to be only the latest in a long line of the gods' interferences.] I imagine you want to mock me, but I strongly suggest you keep such remarks to yourself.
no subject
But, on the other hand, he can't really blame Yusuke, or any of the Thieves, for that matter. He only ever did them more harm than good--and whatever good that was, they don't seem to remember any of it right now. ]
I have no reason to mock you. [ He finally replies, and though his tone is dry, it doesn't hold the overall superiority that one might expect from someone who has any intention to gloat. ] I am hardly pleased with being vulnerable to these gods and their whims, myself. I have been a puppet for too long as it is.
[ A throwaway mention to his life back home? Yes, definitely. ]
Regardless, you should not be out by yourself so soon after losing your sight. Does Akira know about this?
no subject
Yes... Akira knows, but I didn't want to be an undue burden to him, so I tried to teach myself to adjust as quickly as I could. [He sighs.] I suppose I pushed myself too far...
[...Metaphorically and literally, considering he wound up this far across the city on his own.]
no subject
[ And he's trying really hard not to let his judgement show in his voice, but the truth is that he think that was... pretty stupid of Yusuke. His stint with the Phantom Thieves may have been brief, but this guy had struck him as being a little more sensible than this-- definitely more so than Ryuji, for instance. ]
You will be more of a burden on him as soon as he realizes you're gone under these circumstances. He'll certainly be concerned for your safety.
[ A sigh. This is mildly inconveniencing, but: ]
Do you want me to call him?

....Yusuke-kun?
[Komaeda is not far away, so Yusuke should be able to hear his soft-spoken and rather breathy voice. It is mixed with curiosity, confusion and concern. Yusuke may not look like he suffered an eye injury from where Komaeda can see. Did something happen though? An illness? Or something else, considering what the city does?]
no subject
[He recognises the voice well enough and turns his head toward its' general direction, but his unseeing eyes are blank, directionless.]
Forgive me, but-- I cannot be good company for you, right now. [Normally he worries about Komaeda so much, he doesn't want to do the reverse and cause his new friend worry. Or worse, cause Komaeda to somehow blame himself for his misfortune, even if it was entirely unrelated to him.]
no subject
But wait. Yusuke does not seem to be looking at him. In fact, his eyes do not be looking at anything. It's as if....]
Ah...!
[Komaeda approaches him and kneels down to look a little closer. Just in case it's not what he think it might be...]
Yusuke-kun, this might be a silly question but what am I doing right now?
no subject
[Yusuke's eyes don't follow him at all as he moves to kneel, and it's only though the sound of rustling fabric and his voice getting closer that he can figure out roughly where he is.]

( it's about then that the world comes into focus. and he's staring right into the glazed over eyes of his friend. the eyes of a blind man?! there's a quiet gasp as he takes a half step back. )
no subject
Everything's dark... I can't see anything...
[He's making a concerted effort to try to keep himself calm, but his voice is shaking. How could this have happened...?]
no subject
It's all right— ( he tries to make his voice as calming as he can. ) You're okay. I'm here.
( could he really not see anything?! )
no subject
I think... I'm blind. [He says it in a small voice, like he's scared to say it out loud, as if that might make it true. But how else can this be explained?] I-- I don't know what to do.
