Event Log: The Beach Episode
Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.
The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.
And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...► This log covers May 27th-June 10th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply

Trafalgar Law - OPEN
[Law is in the clinic when it happens, so he doesn't notice the instant change, but very shortly after it happens he can tell there's something different - a change in the light, a sensation of moisture where there was only dryness before, and a scent in the air that goes straight to his cold, shriveled heart. He abandons what he's doing and runs out to see that it's happened, his choice won the poll...
If you'll excuse him, he's going to be standing there on the rocks at the edge of the island, watching the sea pound the shore and the softer sun glimmer on the distant waves for the rest of the day. Anyone can approach him there, he won't push anyone away, particularly if they want to ask him why he's so entranced. After all, Law doesn't just stand around staring into space most days, this behavior is weird for him.]
Anytime, West or East islands
[the one thing Law will not be mentioning openly is that he can easily hop from island to island, but chances are good people are going to find out eventually. Anyone who knows him well enough can probably guess. Anyone who has seen him use Shambles should know full well what he can do. Everyone else might catch a glimpse of him in the process: walking to the tip of one island, creating a Room that encompasses the land on both sides of the strait, and then a twist of his wrist to blink himself from one island to the next. Whether you know he can do it or witness him doing it, if you want a ride, you'll have to ask nicely.
And even if you ask nicely he might say no. But you won't know until you try, right?]
East Island, inside shore, any day
[Despite having subsisted on those tiny, weak fish in the pools for the first month or so on desert-world, Law will never get tired of fish. That's why he can be found as close to the water as he can safely get, on some of those weird rock-pillars, fishing up a storm. Nothing tastes quite like ocean fish, dwelling in salt water, swimming against the powerful waves and currents. But there's not a lot of time in the day to waste waiting for a tug on the line, he's either working by net or by Ope-Ope Fruit, telekinetically flinging fish up out of the water and onto the rocks. Look at the bounty of the sea! Come on, this is more than one man alone can eat, help him haul some in and take some home for yourself...]
Wildcard
[legit anything, clinic stuff or pirate stuff come at me bro. Law can be on any island though he will be sticking to West and East because the clinic and his house are in those locations]
West Island, May 27
But she misses the desert. And she hates this gray sea and the buried memories that go with it.
Most of her exploration is on foot and as she makes her way sullenly down the coastline she spots a familiar silhouette staring out at the waves. He probably likes it here, she has to imagine. Even with her own preferences in mind, there's something sad about a pirate stuck in a desert.
With her fur-lined hood pulled up to keep the drizzle of rain off, she goes to stand beside him, folding her arms over her chest as she admires the early stages of the sunset.]
What do you see?
no subject
Oh. Caedra-ya. [hey gurl hey] It's not what I see, but what I sense. Life. [he tips his chin in a nod toward the sea in front of him] There's more out there than there was anywhere in our last location. Huge sea creatures, I can feel them.
no subject
[Not that she disbelieves him. It's actually pretty fascinating. He is often just so full of surprises.]
This must have been the one you wanted the most out of our options, hm?
no subject
[is it that obvious? he glances toward her, the closest to genuinely happy he might have looked in the last year. It's still subtle, mostly a light in his gray eyes, but it's there.]
Well. I do want to learn more about the Null, and uncover whatever secrets the gods are hiding, but my first priority is the Door. Supposedly, out there somewhere is information relating to it. [out...there, yeah, across the waves] If so, we're going to need a ship to get to it.
no subject
[She pauses, seemingly hesitant, but continues.]
I didn't want this place. I have my reasons, and they're not frivolous. But since we're here, we may as well make the most of every opportunity we get to find out about the Door.
If you get your hands on a ship, I'm coming with you.
no subject
[he does remember her pillow talk about urgently wanting to find and control the Door. It's the kind of goal that might make anyone set aside their distaste for the setting, isn't it?]
Not a fan of the ocean, then.
no subject
[You tall dummy. Being stuck on a boat with one person, even him, is a recipe for disaster in her mind. That's more of a prison than this city is. But she's willing to put up with extended close quarters if she has to. It might be her only key to getting out of here - especially if being one of the first to find out important information means she gets control over how that information is used.
Though she smiles a little and shakes her head anyway. He's lucky he's so good in bed. At least it would make said close quarters a little more tolerable. And there's something attractive about the idea of sailing out to explore a new world.]
The ocean itself is fine. This sort of environment brings back unpleasant memories, though.
no subject
That's unfortunate. This place is...almost exactly like home, for me.
[less so the Grand Line with its bizarre weather patterns, but it smells and feels just like a quiet autumn day on Swallow Island in North Blue. He doesn't even mind the rain, although the visor of his hat keeps it off his face pretty well. The top of the fuzzy ball is all beaded with water, and his shoulders are wet, and he does not care one bit.]

Wildcard: South Island (maybe mid-event/June?)
On the beachline overlooking the West Island, Rey sits on one of the basalt columns, one foot planted on the lower rocky column while her left is propped up on another, tapping furiously over the slightly more elevated pillar. She watches the tides roll in and out down the shores, brow creased and hand pressed to her mouth as she haunches forward in a rather relaxed (but cantankerous) position. While the winds are unkind and the climate is as chilly as it's ever been, she still appears as underdressed for the weather as always.
The waters don't look very friendly, but Rey can't take her mind off the distance. If she's careful, if she puts her memories of the past women she had been to work, the space between the islands doesn't even pose a real challenge.
"Could probably swim it," she mutters to herself, eyes locked on the rapid, rolling waves.
Maybe not, but when has bad ideas ever stopped her?
no subject
"What's the matter?" he wonders. "Stuck?"
no subject
When Law approaches, only Rey's eyes dart towards him. She remains as pensive now as she was before.
"Not technically. Was thinking about swimming. Nick would probably be pissed, though."
She can already see the disapproving scowl on his robot face.
no subject
"Do you want to get over there?"
no subject
Granted, with her strength and fortitude, Rey can last much longer than most would. If she had half a mind, she would see just how far out she could make it.
Nick had a point about what could be out there, though. There's no telling what sort of aquatic life exists on this planet.
She sighs, scratching the side of her neck as she thinks. "Maybe. Not really. Don't know." She grunts. "Would just be nice not having the whole city divided like this. It's fucking bullshit."
no subject
He glances over at Rey where she is. "The one thing I haven't seen on any of the islands is this stuff about the Door. Sorrow suggested something would be here, and it's not."
no subject
Too bad the gods hadn't taken that into consideration before the move, but the gods rarely think about people's needs ahead of time like they care.
The mention of the Door has Rey's eyes darting towards Law again.
"Maybe it's somewhere underwater." Wouldn't that be a trip.
no subject
Underwater. For a flash of a moment there's trepidation on Law's face (it's entirely the swimming problem) but then it's replaced by a keen sense of interest, almost thrill. "If it's underwater," he says cautiously, "we'll need a submarine. Shame I can't build one, but I can captain one."
It would mean not having to make weeks-long journeys out to see (aww) but on the other hand, where the hell are they going to get a submarine?

East Island, June 2
Law! Good to see you.
no subject
Yo. How does it handle?
[it looks like a Giant-made craft, only...you know, not giant]
no subject
It handles very well in choppy water, which is good, considering the winds and how the currents sweep around these islands. And it rides the larger waves well.
[ Somebody in Law's world makes crafts of this type? Interesting! ]
So, have you been keeping busy since the relocation?
no subject
[he looks down at his fishing pole at the question. Hah.]
Same old same old. My routine hasn't suffered for the division of the city.
no subject
[ True, fishing doesn't quite cut it, when you're used to a much more exciting life. ]
I've never known exactly what your routine is, besides Clinic work?
no subject
I look after myself. Forage and fish, sometimes check the lab. [and swap Name around sometimes let's be real, that's a thing] Food and sleep are important even for a doctor doing research and other work.
no subject
Yeah, how are they doing at the lab? [ Since the lab is on West Island and this is East Island, it's clear that Law has a way of traveling. But Curufin kind of thought he could do that anyway, so this is not really new info. He'd be interested in news of Name, since he was involved in that effort in the beginning. ] You know there's food stashed at Delmar's Bakery, near the moped lot on South Island, right? We harvested the Orchard before the move, and a lot of the produce was stashed in the Bakery. In case the Lab is running low on food.
no subject
There's not a lot going on there at the moment, at least as far as I'm concerned. But I don't see why I should give a shit about the food situation over there.
[he's not denying anyone fish when he has too many but at the same time, Law's got his and he doesn't care about anyone else]
