Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

Leaving you eternally subjected to two warring emotions? Because surely the pain would be. . . unpleasant? [her voice trails off uncertainly at the end]

It isn't always that bad. [ He assures her ]

Just if I ignore it too long, or stray too far inland. In the previous world, I couldn't hear it at all.

I would hope not. [she doesn't sound entirely convinced]

But now, you'll experience it all the time?

Probably. [ He nods ] The islands are too small to take me too far away from it. That's alright - it'll be a bit like home.

[she hesitates before asking]

And that's a good thing?

I don't think it's bad?

[ he offers wryly ]

Then I will be glad for it. And for you.

[she offers sincerely]

I'm going to have to make an entire new wardrobe for myself. Much of what I have isn't suited for this climate.

Thank you. [ He smiles at her ]

Well, if you need help with that, once Curufin finishes, I will come and visit. [ He promises ]

I likely will need help with that. I'll need to take all new measurements of myself, I find myself growing thin. [she runs her hands over her chest and down her sides]

[ Maglor tutts, worriedly ]

Is there food enough, there? Do not stint yourself, Margaery!

I'm eating well enough. No meat as I fear that it may be tainted, but vegetables and fruit and [she stumbles over the next word] pasta. No, I think it's been my training with Curufin and with Sonya.

[ Relief! ]

Ah, that's well! I do not wish you to become ill! If you worry about the meat - I'd suggest fish, as I'm sure Curvo remembers how to cook that properly, at the least!

[she looks a bit sheepish]

Ah, well, I'm afraid there's a slight problem. I have never cared for fish.

[ That makes him laugh ]

Ai! Oh dear Margaery. Well, Curvo can hunt, at a stretch, although he is not up to the level of the Ambarussa, let alone Celegorm! But you could try and distract him and get him to see if he can catch you something to eat that way. Or, you will have to learn to eat fish!

[she looks resigned]

There's nothing to hunt. I'll likely have to eat the fish.

[but she really, really, really doesn't want to]

[ He laughs softly ]

I fear so, Margaery.

But--can't I keep doing what I was doing? Eating fruits and vegetables? I don't really need the fish, do I?

[searching for a loophole]

[ Maglor shakes his head sympathetically ] You might get by, if you were careful, and if you were not training in the blade! But you are, and that, I fear, needs the extra boost of meat.

[she sighs]

Ugh. Fish. What I wouldn't give for some venison instead.

[ He laughs merrily ]

Ai! Tis not that bad, Margaery. I promise - there's nothing quite like a roast fish with some herbs.

[she gives him a look which can only be described as pouty]

It is. Every now and then, we'd have fish at King's Landing and it was always awful. Slimy and it had this grey substance on it I didn't like the looks of.

[ He restrains his giggles but his eyes dance ]

Clearly, they did not know how to prepare it properly. The Teleri had some excellent fish recipes - I will have to share some!

[she can see those eyes there.

with the air of someone making a great sacrifice] I. . . suppose I could try it. If you cooked it.

[ giggle ]

We will have a little quiet beach dinner, yes?

...that does sound nice. We could have a campfire and sing songs and tell tales and perhaps--weather permitting--sleep under the stars.
