Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

Ai! Tis not that bad, Margaery. I promise - there's nothing quite like a roast fish with some herbs.

[she gives him a look which can only be described as pouty]

It is. Every now and then, we'd have fish at King's Landing and it was always awful. Slimy and it had this grey substance on it I didn't like the looks of.

[ He restrains his giggles but his eyes dance ]

Clearly, they did not know how to prepare it properly. The Teleri had some excellent fish recipes - I will have to share some!

[she can see those eyes there.

with the air of someone making a great sacrifice] I. . . suppose I could try it. If you cooked it.

[ giggle ]

We will have a little quiet beach dinner, yes?

...that does sound nice. We could have a campfire and sing songs and tell tales and perhaps--weather permitting--sleep under the stars.

[ He eyes the sky thoughtfully ]

We should have decent weather for that, I think. For the next few days, at the least.

[she applauds with delight]

Really? Oh, that's wonderful? Did you know, I've never slept under the stars before? At Renly's camp, we all had very large and luxurious tents.

Weather by the sea can be swiftly changeable, so I don't know how true that prediction is! But I think the weather looks clear.

With any luck, Curufin will be able to get the ship made and I'll be able to stitch the sail together before the weather changes. And we can have our night under the stars.

Sooner or later. [ He nods ]

Changeable weather means we will eventually have our chance!

And we should invite everyone! Sansa and Jon and Daenerys and all of your kin. Jon and Daenerys especially haven't had the chance to get to know all of you. [she smiles and looks quite pleased with herself] ...so, let's make that chance.

It would be good to meet your family.

[ Maglor agrees ]

Hopefully in a few nights?

They're such wonderful people. And not a Lannister amongst them.

Where should we have it? Along the shore where there are no rocks? The park? The orchard?

The shore, I think! We could have a campfire, and so long as we are high enough up, the sands are quite comfortable to sleep on. Although the orchard has a ready supply of food available to recommend it!

And that way, we could let the waves lull us to sleep. You'd have to light the campfire, though. I never learned how to do it. Or you could teach me how to do it?

I could teach you.

[ He agrees ]

It isn't hard! Well, in the right conditions, with the right tools!

[she laughs brightly]

You'd have to teach me! Of all the skills grandmother imparted to me, fire-building was not one of them.

Oooh. That sounds tricky.

Well, it is one more for camping and campainging, not one I expected she would have thought you would need.

The dwarves are better at it - but there are simple basics that apply to everyone!

She did teach me something of battle tactics as we always had the goal of making me queen, but no, camping was never on the agenda.

And I suppose it will be a useful skill to have as we can't necessarily depend on the so-called gods to give us the resources to cook our food and keep ourselves warm.

Tactics are one thing, but as we learnt, when you're on the trail, whether it be for orcs or dinner, knowing how to make a fire is far more helpful than you might think!

But you have the right of it there, and I would not trust them to remember that we need such things.

Orcs? What are orcs?

I wouldn't trust them, either. Or we could have an incident like the Null attack again and lose power.

The Enemy's greatest resource.

[ He grimaces ]

They... say they were elves, once. Taken and twisted and bred to a race of creatures who delight only in havoc and death. Foul and misshapen, they hate everything, themselves and their master only a little less then us.

That's--that's horrible! Is there no way to change them back?

[ He shakes his head ]

Nothing on this side of the Sea. Whatever they were, they are orcs now, and have been for millenia. If the Valar know otherwise, they have not said, but perhaps in Mandos, if they were our people once, then the Lord of the Dead can help them.
