Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

Well, it is one more for camping and campainging, not one I expected she would have thought you would need.

The dwarves are better at it - but there are simple basics that apply to everyone!

She did teach me something of battle tactics as we always had the goal of making me queen, but no, camping was never on the agenda.

And I suppose it will be a useful skill to have as we can't necessarily depend on the so-called gods to give us the resources to cook our food and keep ourselves warm.

Tactics are one thing, but as we learnt, when you're on the trail, whether it be for orcs or dinner, knowing how to make a fire is far more helpful than you might think!

But you have the right of it there, and I would not trust them to remember that we need such things.

Orcs? What are orcs?

I wouldn't trust them, either. Or we could have an incident like the Null attack again and lose power.

The Enemy's greatest resource.

[ He grimaces ]

They... say they were elves, once. Taken and twisted and bred to a race of creatures who delight only in havoc and death. Foul and misshapen, they hate everything, themselves and their master only a little less then us.

That's--that's horrible! Is there no way to change them back?

[ He shakes his head ]

Nothing on this side of the Sea. Whatever they were, they are orcs now, and have been for millenia. If the Valar know otherwise, they have not said, but perhaps in Mandos, if they were our people once, then the Lord of the Dead can help them.

I hope the Lord of the Dead can help. It sounds like a torturous existence.

If anyone can, it will be Lord Namo. [ Maglor shrugs ]

I cannot pity them overly! I have lost far too many good soldiers to them. We have been bitter enemies for a very long time.

No, I'd imagine it would be difficult after such casualties and so much bad blood. Especially for one whose lifespan is potentially without end.

[ His smile is wry and tired ]

That is one of the problems with a people who have almost perfect memories and live a very long time.

[her eyes are thoughtful and a little sad]

Our lives must seem as brief as a plucked flower's to you.

[ He shrugs a little, his eyes sad and a little distant ]

Like shooting stars you seem to us, a blaze of light, more precious for your fleetingness, bringing change in your wake.

...I wonder when all is said and done, what will be said about me? What change did I bring?

I don't think most of us ever get to find out. [ He says thoughtfully ]

Some things we learn from those who come after.

I'll likely be best known for how I died.

I hope they know you for more than that.

[ He says quietly, fervently ]

I hope they remember that you were kind, and brave, and did your best despite the constraints laid upon you.

I would like that. But what is it they say? History is written by the victors?

By the victors, aye... but also by the survivors.

[ He flicks her a wry grin ]

Sansa, you said, she lives? Then she will remember you, and tell others, even if other folk forget.

It's just hard. Knowing that there will never again be a Tyrell in Highgarden. Knowing that all I did and all I was will fade away.

Sansa lives, it's true, but we had such a short time together. . .

I know.

[ He says softly, gently ]

But even so long as one person remembers, you are not forgotten.

[she looks down]

I shall have to ask Sansa to. . . remember me. To her children. And her grandchildren.

i am sure she would agree, if you asked!

And my grandmother, too. And Loras. Sansa knew them both. We'd been planning to have Loras and Sansa marry, did you know that?

I do not think you told me that! I think you would have been good as sisters.
