As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.
Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.
And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.
Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers August 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Y-yeah. It's important. [she tries to smile] What we do.
no subject
Yeah, it, um... Hey, are you okay?
no subject
Y--yeah. I'm fine? Why wouldn't I be?
no subject
[Buuut he gets the feeling that whatever's bugging her isn't something she wants to talk about, SO]
I don't wanna get all up in your business, though, y'know?
no subject
[it isn't, exactly. she knows she'll have to talk about it eventually. maybe she can talk about some of it?]
No. No, it's fine. It's just--when I was taken, the Legion was in the middle of a battle. It. . . wasn't going well. So I'm worried.
no subject
[He's pretty sure he knows how his fight ended, but to be taken from right in the middle of a bigass battle was probably a lot worse. There's just no telling what could happen.]
no subject
I. . . thought you might. Since as you said, in your battle, the bad guy won. That's what I'm afraid of.
Remember what I told you about Superman's powers?
no subject
Uh, yeah. He's got all kinds of crazy powers, I remember.

There's another race of beings with the same powers under a yellow sun. Daxamites. There's this--group of Daxamites called the White Triangle. They believe that they're superior to all other races.
They already committed genocide on Trom. Five billion people dead. Then, they attacked Earth, intending to do the same. We were trying to stop them, but fighting beings with that kind of power is. . . difficult.
no subject
Yeah, I... wow. I can see why you'd be worried. That's intense. How big is their group, like, how many of them did you guys have to fight?

We had a Daxamite Legionnaire. Andromeda. She was exposed to lead and Brainy cured her. And Violet found a White Triangle pendant in her room. So Andromeda must have given the cure to the others and betrayed us all.

[He kind of winces, oooh damn that sounds really bad.]
Yikes. Oh my God, that's awful. Like, the only other explanation I can think of is that she was set up? But there's not really any way to investigate that now, huh.
no subject
Andromeda had made her feelings about other beings plain before. She didn't even want a lot of them to touch her. So if someone did set her up, they chose the perfect target.

So these Daxamites, they're just like, average people when they're under any other kind of sun? How does all that work?
no subject
It's the ultraviolet radiation a yellow sun has. It charges their cells like a battery and it gives them superpowers. Rumor has it that Daxam was colonized by Kryptonians who were able to breed with the local population and that's why they have the same powers with the same requirement.
no subject
That would explain how people from completely different planets have the exact same set of powers, I was kind of wondering about that.
no subject
Most Daxamites like to dismiss the theory, but it's the only thing that makes sense. Unfortunately, they're not big on letting non-Daxamite archaeologists in to study. [a little sarcastically] Which I'm sure is a big shock.
no subject
Yeah they don't exactly sound like the most friendly group of people? Just sayin'.
no subject
They're not. At least not now. A thousand years ago, Daxam was the home of Valor, a superhero who ended the Dominators' genetic experiments on humans to try and produce superpowers. He helped the subjects of those experiments settle on different worlds. But now it's. Different.
