Event Log: The Stampede

There's a rumbling sound in the air early in the afternoon on December 26th. Whether you're new in town or you've seen it all, something like this hasn't happened before. Is it an earthquake? It feels kind of like a small one, and that might be endurable if not for the sudden snarling and gnashing of teeth!

As it turns out, these yet-unnamed apex predators are overrunning the city, ignoring their previous apprehension to barrel right through anything- or anyone- that stands in their way. Seemingly spooked by something, they are aggressive and violent and won't hesitate to tear anyone they meet to pieces... after trampling them underfoot, of course. They're so large and muscular that they may even take a few portions of buildings with them- how would you like to see one of these monsters crashing through your living room?

At least it's only these weird mammoths, though... right?

[He isn't so sure he believes that this guy is all that fine, but he's not going to press the issue at a time like this. Also don't eat Peter's blood. It's probably radioactive and might taste like whatever radiation tastes like. Probably bad.]

Actually, um. Not-- okay, so this is basically a onesie? Maybe I can just wiggle this shoulder out.

[He's kind of vacuum sealed in this suit, because technology I guess. He taps the little spider emblem on his chest and the suit loosens up a little, and he proceeds to attempt to wiggle his injured shoulder out of it. It's kinda working.]

[Oh my god his username is a lie, why would he betray Alucard this way . . .

But okay, that's enough to work with. Taking a deep breath, he shoves any thoughts away and kneels down, pulling at the suit, trying to see the wound.]

Hold still, you'll make it worse.

[What is a Spider-Man? A miserable little pile of onesies.

Don't you worry about that, the wound is pretty hard to miss. Several puncture wounds, lots of blood. Just oodles of blood, blood for days. He's gonna have to get this suit like, dry cleaned or something.]

This is about as still as I can hold right now, buckeroo. Buckeroo? God, I am the worst when I'm bleeding out.

[Please don't mind the stupid rambling, it keeps him from panicking.]

[It's very hard not to tell Peter to just shut up, but he does his best. Shrugging off his own coat, he bunches the material up against the wound, gripping Peter's arm to keep him still.]

Tell me something.

[Anything, just to keep his mind occupied and off the pain.]

[He's not really doing a lot by way of moving, but he is shivering on account that he's half dressed and it's freezing out.]

I-- G-uh... Well, okay, anything in particular?

[Now he's been put on the spot and he's totally drawing a blank, it is the worst.]

Why do you have a mask?

[The good thing about being half-vampire is that he knows damn well when the blood begins to clot. It's almost there, but not quite, not yet. He can't do much about the warmth, unfortunately; he's ice-cold as it is.]

[The good news is that Peter heals super fast, so once he stops gooshing blood everywhere it'll maybe take a day or two for him to heal up. The cold, he's just going to have to deal with for a while.]

Right now it's because my face is cold, and also because I don't want you to see all the weird faces I'm making while I freak out. Back home it was to hide my identity so that people don't start getting all up in my personal business. Didn't really want cops and/or bad guys kicking my door down, either.

Are you not familiar with the concept of a scarf here? Or is it just habit at this point?

[He doesn't ask why this child, this clear infant, does not want cops and/or bad guys at his door. He wants to, but he'll hold his tongue for a moment.]

Habit, mostly. But also I wouldn't want to risk accidentally strangling myself if say, I was swinging around with a scarf on and it got stuck on something. Same reason I don't wear a cape. Sounds cool in theory, but not really practical.

[WOW he is 100% totally a real adult!! Or he will be in a couple years, still counts.

You could simply not wear anything.

[He pulls his coat back tentatively, but yes, it's clotting. He sits back, grimacing a little as he shakes his coat out. He's going to have to . . . well, never mind what he'll have to do with this coat, it's not pretty and it's not dignified.]

You're going to have to treat this more, but you shan't bleed out on the way home.

Probably, but I'm kind of attached to it.

[He's gonna suck that blood right out of that coat isn't he.

Now that bleeding isn't as much of an issue, Peter tugs his suit back up over his shoulder.]

Thanks man, you're a real life saver. Um, sorry about your coat? I have no idea how to get blood out of that. Or this, come to think of it.

[what freaking fabric did Mr. Stark even make this Spider-Man get up out of? Who even knows.]

[HE SURE FUCKING IS.]

It's inconsequential. Do you require help returning home?

[Oh, wait. They haven't even introduced themselves, have they? He stands, offering Peter a hand-- and when the boy gets to his feet, he offers a very short bow.]

Oh, no, I'm good. I think I'm gonna pop over to the clinic and see if they have any... I don't know, super glue or something. I actually heal really fast? So this isn't a super big deal.

[It sure is hand shake time. Peter will go ahead and just pull his mask off for a minute to be polite. His whole secret identity thing hasn't mattered at all here so whatev.

He's also going to refrain from just blurting out "Oh like Dracula backwards that's cool". He's seen a lot of movies ok.]

[He refrains from blurting out that Peter looks like a literal infant, so really, we're all doing great on the restraint bit.]

What do you need super glue for, exactly.

[He does not trust this small child. Sorry. He's sticking with you, Peter Parker, or at least for a little while longer.]

[We sure are. And hey come on he's almost old enough to vote.]

I mean, I don't have time to sit there while someone stitches me up, and I'll have to take stitches back out in a day or two anyway. So I figure maybe it would be faster to just glue my skin together? Because I really need to get back to work, these things are still everywhere and people still need help.

[Dracula backwards is right not to trust Peter to not get himself hurt like immediately after helping him, ngl.]

[He stares down at him for a long few seconds. There's a lot packed into this gaze: shock, grief, disappointment, acceptance . . . it's a gaze with a million thoughts racing behind it. But all he finally says, slowly and heavily, is:]

[Just that. Just no.]

That may be the stupidest thing I've heard since I woke up. Come along.

[Peter replies with the slightest of eyerolls. He knows the guy's just trying to help, and really appreciates it, he does. But come on man.]

I- sir, really, I'm fine. I'll be fine. I do this all the time, it's really not that big a deal.

You just told me you wished to glue your skin together. You've lost any and all authority at this point, Peter. Come on.

[SSSSSSSSSIGH. He peeks over the side of the roof to see if the mammoths have cleared off, and HEY good news, the coast seems to be clear for now.]

It totally works, but okay. The clinic's this way.

[He just backflips off the roof SPIDEY OUT]

[Peter, why . . . Alucard stares after him for a long few seconds, then sighs deeply. But he's off after him, following so quickly he's almost unseen. Frankly, he could follow him blind; he leaves a scent trail that just screams to Alucard's starved senses.

They head to the clinic, and thank god, they make it in one piece. The instant they get past the doorway, he grips Peter's forearm, not so much nasty as simply firm: come along. Sit on a bed. Settle in.]

[Peter was about to go chill in the little waiting area, BUT NOPE, his new vampire babysitter has other, and probably way smarter plans. He doesn't try to pull his arm away, because that would probably be rude, but he does plant his feet and refuse to budge. Because teenager.]

I-- okay, listen. I really do appreciate you making sure I get here in one piece, like, that was real solid of you. You seem like a good dude. But I've totally got it from here. Seriously, I've got this.

[He's 100% going to leave as soon as nobody's watching him, is what he means. But shhhh.]

[He lets that hang in the air.]

You wanted to glue your skin together, in lieu of stitches or bandages. No matter how fast-acting you heal, that won't help.

They make medical glue, y'know.

[Which might be great for a nice, clean cut, but maybe not so much for all these bite wounds.]

[He did not, actually, know this, because he's from the 1400's, but whatever! Moving on!]

Did you mean medical glue when you suggested it.
