There's a rumbling sound in the air early in the afternoon on December 26th. Whether you're new in town or you've seen it all, something like this hasn't happened before. Is it an earthquake? It feels kind of like a small one, and that might be endurable if not for the sudden snarling and gnashing of teeth!

As it turns out, these yet-unnamed apex predators are overrunning the city, ignoring their previous apprehension to barrel right through anything- or anyone- that stands in their way. Seemingly spooked by something, they are aggressive and violent and won't hesitate to tear anyone they meet to pieces... after trampling them underfoot, of course. They're so large and muscular that they may even take a few portions of buildings with them- how would you like to see one of these monsters crashing through your living room?

At least it's only these weird mammoths, though... right?

I could use some nice, harmless flowers, I could pot some of them and brighten up my apartment. [and she giggles] You and me, both. Probably comes with the territory of being a super-hero.

[right, like the mammoths. which they should probably get back to]

[Peter's already on his way out to do just that. That being mammoth punching.]

It's probably super hero related, or maybe it's just because my life is in shambles. Either way, it's probably accurate.

[He actually sounds pretty cheerful about that. All this weird bullshit is just another day in the life of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.]

[and it's a very impressive punch! sends the thing skidding backwards a by at least a meter.

she flies over to it while it's trying to recover and puts an end to that by slashing its throat]

Maybe it's both? My life is in shambles, too.

[and she doesn't exactly sound cheerful about that, but it is what it is. she's trying to resign herself to not knowing how her friends are faring against the Daxamites, but it's hard]

[He's taking out his pent up aggression on mammoth faces, or something.]

Not the best thing to bond over? But it's something, I guess.

[the mammoths do make a nice distraction. not that she actually could stab a Daxamite in the face, what with their whole invulnerability thing]

No, I guess it's not. But it's kind of nice to know that someone else's life is as sprocked up as mine is.

[Yeaaaah Peter will just stick with punching things that are punchable.]

It's... maybe "comforting" isn't the right word? But it's good to know that someone gets it.

[and she'll continue stabbing things which need to be stabbed]

Absolutely. I think I'd go crazy if I didn't have someone who knew. And I'm glad it's you.

[And webbing things that need to be webbed]

It's because I'm super cool and have a great personality, right?

[he is 100% joking, there isn't a cool bone in his entire body]

It absolutely is. I'm really, really glad we're friends.

And also yes, he's gonna go knock a mammoth over. Like literally, he just body slammed one.]

You are way too nice. But I'm glad we're friends, too!

[she will if she wants to. and she wants to.

she applauds at that, the floats over to slice its throat near to its spine, but the only place the blood goes is her hands. which feels like it should be a metaphor for something, but what she doesn't know]

Us super-heroes have to stick together. This place is crazy, so I guess it's our job to spread a little un-crazy.

I don't know, some people would say that running around in a skin tight red and blue spider costume is pretty crazy. Then again, I'm from New York. I could just say that's my excuse.

[At least the mammoths are starting to thin out some, hopefully she won't have to deal with bloodhands for too much longer 8(]

New York? Really? I've never heard of it before.

[that's a relief, she's going to have to put her costume in to soak with some lemon juice for the better part of an hour to try and get the stains out. or was it club soda and lemon before washing? whatever]

It's a city. Huge, packed with people, noisy. Good food, though.

[Do we even have lemon and club soda on this dump planet? Here's hoping, Peter's probably going to need some too by the time he's done fighting stuff.]

Sounds like Metropolis. Right down to the good food part. But what's the club scene like?

[maaaaaaaybe? they likely wouldn't be among the first things to go among many because one is just fizzy water and the other is too sour for most people's palates]

Can't say. I've never been clubbing. Too busy with school and Spider-Manning, y'know how it goes.

[And also he's a giant nerd and would sooner chill at the library than go clubbing but hey.]

Well, you have to visit my world and go clubbing with me. Metropolis has the best clubs in the known universe. It'll be fun!

[she likes libraries, too. the peace, the quiet, the playing footsie with someone else under the library tables]

You know what, after all this crap, that sounds like a pretty awesome idea.

[Vacation in Metropolis, hell yes. Only maybe without the libraries and the footsie.]

Absolutely! [she beams] You'll have to let me dress you. Trust me.

[vacations in Metropolis are wonderful. when they're not being interrupted by superbeings with a grudge against anything that's not Daxamite]

Yyyeaaaah, it would probably be weird if I rolled up in the club lookin' like this, huh?

[He strikes a pose, as you do.]

For real though, fashion has to be like way different in your time.

It's all very tight. With as few buttons or zippers as possible. Which you should be used to, given the, [she gestures towards his uniform] everything.

[He is the best at super hero poses, it's true.]

Ohh, okay, I dig it. I mean, I usually prefer jeans and t-shirts when I'm not on the job, but this is definitely easier to move in.

[it's true. hers tend to look like cheesecake poses. which isn't intentional!]

Right, right, so think that, only as a suit of clothing. I'll have to wear a dress, of course. Black? No, white!

[Well now I just want cheesecake]

Not gonna lie, that sounds super weird for everyday wear. I mean, not the dress part, but the rest. Like, weird.

You'd think so, but you get used to it. Everything is tight, tight, tight. It's the fashion. Fashion makes no sense, it just is.
