What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Cute monsters, a way to pass the time, and plenty of newbies!

Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!

But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.

Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[It's the one symbol Rashid's been looking for.

Leave it to him to think tonberries are cuddly. He tried talking to one, only to be threatened with a massive chef's knife. One "DOINK" later, he's hauling out of the Colosseum, cursing himself for setting foot in there again.

He didn't even get a board game.]

I hate to bother you, but I got a pretty nasty wound that needs to be treated.

[Well, fortunately Simon isn't here to judge the sanity or good decisions of those who enter the coliseum, willingly or unwillingly. He's just here to help do some damage control, and that's keeping him plenty busy. Perking up and putting on his best bedside manner, he heads over towards the man approaching him, scanning him for the injury.]

I'm here to help. What happened?

I made a really stupid mistake and came back to this place. Thought I'd get a good fight in and instead I got stabbed.

[He's doing the best to hide his pain, but the wound on his arm is pretty nasty.]

Damn monsters with their tiny knives are quick.

So is this where it happens every month? The new arrivals.

[Simon frowns just slightly as he holds a hand out, carefully taking Rashid's arm to inspect it, motioning for him to turn slightly so Simon can see the wound. That frown just gets deeper by a fraction as he focuses.]

This doesn't look like a tiny knife to me. You're going to need stitches, at least. You're lucky he didn't sever anything. Any numbness or tingling in your fingers?

Yeah. I came through here when I first showed up about a month ago.

[He lets the doctor do his work, turning a bit to show more of the gash.]

Okay it wasn't tiny. It was more like a chef's knife. And I do have a little tingling. That's... not bad, right?

[Cue the clear repression of the words he actually wants to say, as he applies pressure to the bleeding wound with a clean gauze pad, binding it tightly.]

It could mean a lot of things, but I wouldn't worry until we get the bleeding stopped and I can take a better look at it. Let's head for the clinic. Can you tell me what did this? Was it a person? You said chef's knife...

[Rashid hasn't bled this much before, and it's kind of jarring. No more reasoning with cute monsters for him.]

It definitely wasn't a person. It was small, maybe up to my knees. Green skin, but no facial features other than yellow eyes. Oh, and it was carrying a lantern as well as the knife.

[Wow, when he describes it out loud, it sounds much scarier.]

Doesn't sound like anything I know. Clearly dangerous, though, if this cut is any indication. That wasn't what we found last month, when I got here.

[Lifting a corner of the pad, he inspects the wound. Well, at least the bleeding seems to be slowing.]

Yeah, last month was full of those creatures who could turn invisible. I took out a couple of those, myself.

[He's not sure what's worse: being attacked by invisible monsters or cute knife-wielding beings.]

[Simon tactfully refrains from mentioning his own near-death experiences.]

Do you do much fighting, where you're from?

Yeah, I do. Before I got here, it felt like all I was doing was fighting.

[Between Shadaloo guards and that weird poisonous guy and all.]

I'm surprised I didn't sustain any serious injuries.

[Other than almost being poisoned to death.]
