Intro Log: Don't Wake Tonberry

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Cute monsters, a way to pass the time, and plenty of newbies!

Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!

But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.

Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[He follows the trajectory of the object as it bounces onto the ground. Sturdy little things. And a good thing, too. If they broke too easily, there'd be a mass shortage of the things.]

I guess that's your prerogative. [His tone is utterly placid and neutral. He lets it lie where it is.]

I won't lie, though; these things come in handy.

If you can use them.

[She's tempted to step on it. In fact, she raises one foot up as if she's about to do just that, but then she thinks better of it. The gem continues to stare down at the object instead, deciding its fate.]

I know I saw humans on Earth communicating over devices with larger screens.

[At least she thinks that's what they were doing. It's not as if she'd cared enough at the time to get closer and run them off with her curiosity.]
skelebro: (isn't my brother the coolest)

[personal profile] skelebro 2016-09-14 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-huh. Seems that was the general idea here. Just, uh, doesn't really work if your fingers're too big for the screen. Pretty touch and go, right?

[He pauses for the laughter he's pretty sure isn't gonna come, then forges ahead valiantly regardless.]

So. Jasper. I'm guessin' you're new to all...this. [He makes an equivocal gesture with his hand that's meant to encompass the entire city and makes a poor job of it.]
missionfail: (unimpressed)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-16 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
[He assumes correctly, as there's not a bit of laughter forthcoming. He doesn't even get a smile. If anything, her expression becomes more sour.]

Of course I am. That's obvious.

[He doesn't even get bonus points for guessing correctly.]

[No dice, huh? That's fine. He can roll with a non-responsive audience, done it plenty of times before.]

You gotten the whole run-down yet? Blah blah blah, welcome to Hadriel, all that jazz?

missionfail: (blah)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-17 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've gotten it.

[How much good it's done her is questionable. She's uncertain about the reliability of her sources.

With a sigh, she bends down to pick up her communicator again.]

If you're planning on adding to it I'm not sure how much I care.
skelebro: (sup)

[personal profile] skelebro 2016-09-17 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's good, 'cause I'm not sure how much I'd care to explain it to ya.

[His tone is utterly light and conversational as he says it, belying the dismissive undercurrent to the words.]

Anyway, we're all stuck on this sinkin' boat together. That's the general gist. So, y'know, it's best to try and get along with people.
missionfail: (crossed)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-17 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jasper doesn't seem terribly impressed by that statement. Getting along with people isn't exactly her forte. She usually just sort of tolerates them all. When she's given a job, she'll do it.

But here she's more than a little lost and uncertain - and like hell will she be willing to admit that to anyone. She might as well stick to dealing with "monsters" like this guy here, since it feels as though the moment she starts truly fraternizing with humans she might as well work with Rose Quartz. And she'd rather die.]

This "sinking boat" will be minus one gem soon enough.
skelebro: (tbh)

[personal profile] skelebro 2016-09-17 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Uh-huh. He doesn't look surprised at that pronouncement, or fussed, or much of anything. He continues to smile and he shrugs with his typical indolence. Not like anyone's figured a way outta here before. Unless she's talkin' about the other thing.

He doesn't think she's talkin' about the other thing.]

Let us know if that works out for ya. You could patent the method wholesale and make a fortune.
missionfail: (psh)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-17 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard about the odds of getting out.

[Simply that there weren't any. At least not any good ones.]

But no one here knows what a gem is, so that means I'm the first.

[And maybe whoever's running this place doesn't know what they're really dealing with when it comes to her kind. She's not as easily crushable as a lot of the creatures here. (That incident with the tonberry notwithstanding.)]
skelebro: (sansye shrug)

[personal profile] skelebro 2016-09-17 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and I was the first talking skeleton. Real novelty to these sorts of things, but you're up against gods here. I mean literal gods, and I ain't exaggerating.

[But then he shrugs, his tone even and unconcerned. Just 'cause he's given up doesn't mean everyone else should, right? Heh heh, right.]

But, hey. Maybe you're right. And you wanna try and get on outta here, you can be my guest.
missionfail: (fist)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-18 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard about these gods. I'd like to actually see one.

[Seeing one of the diamonds isn't common, but all gems get to see them on rare occasions - even if from a distance. Maybe these "gods" here show themselves too. If so, she wants to be there the next time they make an appearance.

And not just because she wants to punch one in the face.]

You. Sans. What can you do, anyway?
skelebro: (it's raining somewhere else)

[personal profile] skelebro 2016-09-18 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
[He tilts his skull to one side incrementally, surveying her with the most neutral smile he has available to him. She could probably see any one of those gods if she wants to. They post to the network often enough.]

Nothin', on a good day. Maybe I'll earn myself a Most Accomplished Napper medal sometime.

[Is that the honest truth? Nah, not really. But it's the truth he's painted for everyone else and by gum he's sticking to it.]
missionfail: (side)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-18 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, whether he's being truthful or not, that's not the most promising description of one's skills and it shows that he has no interest in fighting to leave this place. That's fine. She can find an army elsewhere.

And maybe some of these people will be willing to work with her. At least they'll be able to talk, which is more than her last "army" could do.]

So you're saying you're basically worthless.
skelebro: (shrugs illustratively)

[personal profile] skelebro 2016-09-18 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[He spreads his arms wide in an artless shrug. It's hard to be punched through by words you've told yourself a thousand times, heard in a thousand different iterations. Makes you goddamn bulletproof, is what it does.]

More or less, yeah. Why? Were you lookin' for someone more bad to the bone?
missionfail: (talking)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-19 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ugh, more puns. She scoffs.]

I thought perhaps you at least had a spine.

[Wait, is that another bone thing? She hates this place.]
skelebro: (tbh)

[personal profile] skelebro 2016-09-19 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Uh-oh. Sorry, Jasper, but you walked right into that one.

Sans braces both hands against the small of his back and arches his spine so it pops with a loud click of air pockets in joints.]

Might wanna put a little "backbone" into your grasp of anatomy.
missionfail: (angry)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-19 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Rrrrgh!

[Her hands ball into fists at her sides and she turns away from him.

She'll now be walking right out of this one, thank you very much!]
skelebro: (ayyyyyy lmao)

[personal profile] skelebro 2016-09-19 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Fun as playfully ribbing her might've been, Sans's sense of self-preservation trumps his sense of comedic timing, so he doesn't follow.

Nice to meet ya, Jasper, you were good for a laugh.]
