Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!
But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.
Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

(and it isn't that Kate doesn't enjoy the downtime she gets, that she thinks parties are pointless or doesn't indulge in the tranquility of a slow morning routine, it's just that there have always been too many hours in a day, she's always had too much energy to not be best occupied by a million different things at any one time.)
but they can, at least, join forces on the general preference for going with the flow over planning every move, over being the kind of chessmaster Alicia is. Kate plans more, if only because her powers have always forced her into that role, into observing and thinking even when she'd much rather simply react. it isn't natural, but it works.
(it becomes habit, eventually.)
no one who knows Faith would disagree that she isn't a medic - a healer, indeed, with the kind of healing powers that comes once in a blue moon, but even so -, because she's too much. too much a leader, too much a magnet for trouble and change to be sat in the background as medics often are. )
Er- the god. ( she sucks in a breath, although the latter is right, since Hope doesn't heal everyone (and even if they did, not everyone would want to be healed by them, most likely). ) There's Hope, Fear, Sorrow, Rage and Delight.
( and they can both agree on that, too. The Agency didn't exactly teach a healthy work-life balance, didn't exactly discourage people from trying to do everything they could. )

Not always. Not often. Just sometimes. Leadership is overrated. She likes people and making things happen, but she's not a thinker like Alicia, and shouldn't a leader be a thinker?
Sometimes (often) Faith wonders if things wouldn't have gone better if Alicia had led the charge. A shorter fight, fewer deaths.]
Poetic, yeah, that Hope's the one reviving people. [Her grin and her voice do not let on the thoughts twisting up her heart.] Doesn't sound like a very fun bunch. Does Rage kill people, then? Things could get really ugly if the gods keep messin' 'round like that.

Kate isn't sure even Alicia could have predicted a third party coming into the fight, couldn't have foreseen the Creatures that decided to take advantage of The Agency being distracted with their own internal battles. even Diana didn't mention it. there were too many lives lost, too much damage done, but it wasn't all them.
(sometimes those were the only thoughts that let Kate get through a day.) )
They've tried. ( she's still pissy about the assassin event, okay? but: ) Sometimes it's just little things. Fucking with the network.
( Kate, you should probably explain that. )

All Faith ever wanted was a happy life.
But that's not for now. She's in a strange new place, and Kate's been here longer, and now they've got each other. They'll figure a way back home. They'll be fine, so long as they stick together.
Just like at home.]
Huh. Don't like that. [Using your powers to hurt people is... exactly what they fought against, isn't it. Those memories are too fresh. Faith doesn't want to have to fight again so soon.
Maybe they won't have to. Maybe they can just save people.
One thing at a time, though. First, she needs to get to know the place, the people. With Kate here, she's already got an advantage on getting that done. An insider is always helpful.
And Kate's the insider who got everything started in the first place.]
So. Where do I get started?
no subject
but they will be fine. it won't be for a few days, but Kate will eventually realise that the knots she's carried in her shoulders since she got here have loosened with the appearance of a friend from home.
with the appearance of someone legendary.
(she's a part of that problem. one doesn't grow up superhuman and not expect more from the Named ones. the phoenixes, the vampires. they earned their Names for a reason, right?) )
Let's see... ( she should probably go through some of the system here. ) We've got trinkets if you need to give 'em out. ( Faith probably remembers the whole thing where Dagny wanted a total healing centre, probably remembers Kate's complaining about the entire process of creating the small, less powerful, beta versions, and the exhaustion that came with trying to make a full-sized version. ) Any of the supplies can be used for making a first aid kit if anyone asks.
no subject
Sometimes it's harder than she'd like.
Faith smiles, though, looks at what Kate is showing her, laughs a little. Trinkets, how nice. Little pieces of home in this strange place with no sky.]
I can do that. I can patrol a little too, make sure I get to anyone who's hurt. And, of course, I can be here now and then.
no subject
well, she's sort of happy about the whole thing. about not being alone down here. even if guilt knots in her stomach alongside it - Faith, of all people, is too important to be stuck dealing with this. to be dragged away from their world and into the murdercave.
she exhales, watches her friend with a vague fondness that doesn't quite leave her face. of course Faith would. help, that is. )
Hey-
( there's one question she's wondering about, though. )
- What month was it, back home?
no subject
Mm? Oh -- September. It was September.
[And what a month it'd been so far. There's still so much to do back home. Faith needs to get back soon.]
no subject
anyway, that answer makes Kate's shoulders sag in the way they do when someone is distinctly relieved to hear the answer they're given. September, so; )
Time hasn't moved then. ... Or not moved much, I guess.
( she was taken in September too. that's a good thing. she's not left the clinic high and dry, not left Jon to do her work while they're still in the beginning stages of setting up, only a month into life in LA. )
no subject
[She hopes it stays the same. That time stops, waits for them to get home. Otherwise, all their hard work and sacrifice may end up being for nothing.]
no subject
Thank fuck.
( Kate leans against the wall of the room they're stood in, tilts her head back. she's been more worried about that than she'd realised. )
You need a place to stay.
no subject
Faith shoots Kate a sympathetic smile.] Been working as hard as ever, have you. Don't push yourself too hard, Kitkat.
[And at the rest--] Yeah. Oh -- y'think we could be roommates?
no subject
( so to speak. didn't know if Jon was stuck doing a job he isn't technically trained for, setting up the clinic, keeping it running. )
... Could just find your own place. ( on the other hand. it's Faith. she hasn't seen her in months and this place is a disaster. having friends nearby, in the flat, would be practical. ) But if it saves you the trouble.
( of course, our lovely chocolate bar forgets to mention that she lives in a one bedroom. what can you expect, she's stayed in nothing but studios since she moved to Denmark and then to LA. )
no subject
Her smile fades a little as Faith frowns.] Hmm. There really that many free flats and houses? [She grimaces a little.] At least lemme stay with you til I figure out whether I want to stay on me own?
[Spoilers: she doesn't want to stay on her own. It will save her so much trouble. Also, she can keep an eye on Kate, make sure she doesn't overdo it.
And it'll keep Faith from feeling lonely in a strange new place. She misses her friend, fight her.]
no subject
Sure.
( it's that easy. because Kate doesn't want to be entirely alone either. she's had enough of it. )
no subject
[Hadriel has no idea what it has in store now that these two are back together.]
