What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Cute monsters, a way to pass the time, and plenty of newbies!

Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!

But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.

Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

( hey, Simon, you haven't met the clinic admin yet, have you? god only knows how, but whatever. maybe you've missed her while she's holed up doing paperwork, or caught a flash of pink hair wandering around now and again. or maybe she's been too busy liaising with the guard since you got here.

no matter. she's just going to say hi. and for most people that would mean walking along the street, finding the clinic staff, and checking on them.

for Kate? that means she jumps off a rooftop and drops, landing just across the road from you and looking completely fine as she wanders over. )

How's it going? Many injuries?

[Just one of those funny incidents of timing that they haven't met yet; there's probably been some comedic "one door opens while another closes" nonsense that's happened, between the two of them trying to arrange things at the clinic. He's heard Kate's name, but he hasn't seen her yet, and he doesn't make the connection as he sees her make a superhero landing.

He'd probably be more impressed if he hadn't seen his own sister do the same thing at least once.

Instead, he straightens up, putting on his best pleasantly professional face.]

Not too many so far, thankfully. I'm just going to hope that means everyone's making it out safely, and not that they're all dead inside the coliseum.

[Welp. They can't all be winners.]

( running around the murdercave like they're in a sitcom. ah, Hadriel, you are a funny little place.

and aren't we all grateful for River? as amusing as reactions can be, it gets a bit old after a while. and there are far more important things in the world, in the cave, than Kate's preference for distinctly non-mundane forms of travel. )

They're slow. ( the monsters of the month. ) Probably outrunning them.

( or Faith's found them. that's also an option - set up in the clinic for the time-being or not, that girl would be needing to help. probably by exhausting herself.

(not that Kate can talk.) )

[Simon hasn't been here long, and even he's got his priorities straight. River first. Patients second. The concept of gods and magic, a distant third. Anything else is just something to be worked around.]

Small favors, I suppose. I've had a couple injuries regardless, maybe people not expecting violence. I'm Simon, by the way. Dr. Simon Tam. I don't believe we've met.

( good priorities. Kate's used to be getting out, then everything else. then it was work, and getting out, and other people here. now-

well, now there's a firebird in her life again. that's gotta complicate things a bit more. )

Kate Galloway. ( she'd shake, but hygiene. may as well wait on that until they're both in a place where he's not offering care. ) I do admin at the clinic. ( mostly. a few other things. it's a long story. she kind of just throws herself into everything. )

[The situation does tend to get complicated. Simon understands that maybe more than most people.

He appreciates her respecting protocol, letting him keep his hands clean for any patients, and instead offers her a small half-bow in response.]

Ronan mentioned you. It appears we have you to thank for what little we do have at the clinic. I appreciate your hard work.

( ... wait, Ronan?

... somehow Kate doubts that he said that quite in so many words. he's always been a bit... short. in general and with her. a bit abrasive. )

We just do what we can, right?

( she needs the doctors more than they need her, really. the place runs as smoothly as can be expected, though, and she's glad for that. )

[Well. There was at least a name mentioned. The rest of it is all gathered from the miscellaneous charts and lists and the occasional comment from someone like Bruce.]

I suppose you're right. That's what I'm hoping to do, anyway.
