Intro Log: HOLY F*^K THAT'S A F*&KI%G DRAGON

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for October
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: October 10th-13th
Warnings: New faces, new greeting posts, and dragons. What's more to want?

If your first thought upon waking up on the cold, hard ground of Hadriel's very own Colosseum is 'maybe I partied too hard last night', one, Delight would love you and two, you're wrong. Or- maybe you did, but that's not why you're here. Instead, you wake up with the same clothes you were wearing when you were last home, but surrounded by very different people. So, make some friends! Might as well voice your confusion and concern and show the technologically unsavvy of you how to operate these fancy new phones, right? Just be sure not to trip over these odd bags of chips on your way to greet your fellow man.

Don't spend too much time out in the open, though. There are monsters about, and not quite the usual ones. This month, Hadriel is bringing in four dragons, each with their own unique abilities and raidboss-esque stamina. They'll be terrorizing the city until someone puts them down- maybe that someone is you! Maybe you should, uh, actually hide. They're hungry and territorial and mean and they're definitely out for a good meal. Check out our OOC post for more information, as well as who will be eventually killing the beasts!

But hey, once you escape from the dragons, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.

New, as of October's intro log is a Newcomer's guide that installs itself by default on every activated phone. Thanks, Mello!

Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers October 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[[i mobile tag a lot, so i prefer prose, but don't let that stop you from bracketing if you like that better!]]

Nothing more welcoming than dragons, right? If Lea didn't know better, he'd think that this place was trying to eradicate the newcomers. Well, it could be worse: at least it's not an army of Heartless.

For the most part, he's been steering clear of the general commotion. Lea has always had a very prominent preference for flight over fight, and these big scaly beasties do not an exception make. But he really needed some OJ! He can live without many things, he really can, but what's he supposed to do in a brand new apartment with no OJ? On the way home from the store, however (which... he still isn't sure how he was supposed to pay for anything... but nobody seemed too upset about it), he finds himself right in the path of arguably the largest dragon he's ever encountered.

Okay, not that he's encountered many. But he's still pretty sure this would be the largest one ever. He stands there a moment at the mouth of the street, the bottle of OJ in one hand and the other hand over his mouth in contemplation. The creature is kind of beautiful, in its own right, with its glistening blue scales and graceful serpentine movements.

Yes, it gracefully levels a building with its tail. All righty, then, time to move on.

Before he can make a hasty exit stage left, though, the dragon notices him and turns, curling her lips to reveal great ivory fangs that are surely at least as long as he is tall. The great beast starts to round on him, and Lea takes a moment to debate just opening up a portal and getting the hell out of dodge, but something stops him. A moment later, he figures out what it is, when there's a cry from somewhere out of eyeshot, and a figure suddenly dives for the dragon's face. Two bright white blades of some sort spin in her hands, and she shouts out a warning. Lea doesn't have to be able to hear all her words to understand a blatant 'GET OUT OF THE WAY'. Not an instant too soon, either--no sooner does he dive into the nearby alley does a blast of icy breath leave the dragon's mouth, engulfing the whole street where he'd just been standing and leaving behind what would probably be a nice ice skating rink in any other situation.

OJ forgotten for the moment, Lea summons his chakrams. Flight reflex notwithstanding, he knows he can't just leave this girl to fight a massive dragon all by herself. Ice isn't an element he has a lot of luck with, but maybe what this dragon needs is a little hotfoot. Setting the chakrams alight, he lets them fly, aiming for the dragon's talons, hopefully buying the girl a little time with the distraction.

"You look like you could use a hand, stranger!" he calls.

Landing on the dragon's head keeps feeling like a bad idea as soon as she pauses up there and yet, she keeps doing it. It buys her just enough distraction time to protect this guy and his juice, but as soon as the dragon realizes she's up there, she gives a shake of her head, sending Ahsoka struggling to stay on, fingers gripping the edge of what scales make for half decent handholds on a creature like this. There's no opportunity for her to get a decent slash in, though, and when her new bystander unleashes a distraction of his own, she takes the opportunity to jump clear, turning in the air so she lands crouched, facing the dragon's side.

"I'm not gonna say no!" Ahsoka returns, looking between Lea and the dragon. The longer she engages the dragon, the slower she feels, so a moment to get her head on straight right now is a good thing. "What do you do best?"

"Best?" Lea snorts a little. "Run away," he admits without shame, and then gives a shrug. "But when I have to stand and fight, my specialty is setting stuff on fire." He grins a little. "Not usually the best method to fighting dragons, but it seems this one might could use a little warming up, wouldn't you say?"

The dragon doesn't seem so intent on their having a conversation, however, and before Lea can get much further, the beast whirls sharply, slamming one of her mighty claws down between them. Lea leaps backward and out of the way, landing crouched to one side and turning to see if his unexpected comrade had also leapt clear.

"So!" he calls, getting back to his feet and holding his chakrams at his sides. "What's your specialty, then? I can provide some cover for ya. If you've got a gameplan, I'm happy to follow your lead, but this sucker's gonna turn the whole city into a winter wonderland if something isn't done."

Ahsoka has a similar idea to Lea in terms of getting out of the way, landing back, but keeping herself between Lea and that unnecessarily large paw, one lightsaber held out in front of her. It won't do much good against the dragon's breath, but such a defensive posture make her feel like she's doing something, at least.

"I've got these." She gives a wiggle to the lightsaber she has behind her back as a way to indicate the pair. Her skill with her sabers isn't the only thing going for her, and the way she jumps around is a good indicator of that, but she can't exactly use the Force to toss something this size away- and even if she could, there's nowhere for the dragon to go. "And they're pretty hot, but she's got tough skin and trying to hold on is giving me frostbite. Focus your fire on her face and chest and I'll... do what I can."

He squints a little at her light swords--they look a lot like Xemnas' weapons, which is a little unsettling, all things considered, but while this woman does look a little unusual, she doesn't look like an evil manipulative gaslighting asshole, at least. Far be it from Lea to just throw trust around easily, but with a common goal in mind, he's willing to give this colorful lady the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

"And I've got these," he says, holding up the chakrams, "also pretty hot, when I want 'em to be." He gives her a bit of a grin. "I'll keep her focused on me, don't worry about that; I can be pretty darn obnoxious when I'm really trying. So you just do your worst to bring her down, and I'll make sure she's too busy trying to swat me to notice, deal?"

The dragon gives a deafening roar, obviously getting a bit fed up with the idle chitchat, and Lea twists sharply and lets his chakrams fly, aiming for the creature's face. It doesn't matter how big you are, facial wounds hurt and bleed a lot more than most others. The perfect distraction.

"I'm Lea, by the way," he says, hopping backward to snatch one of the chakrams from the air as it wheels back toward him. "And who might you be?"

It's been a while since she last fought alongside someone new, especially someone whose combat training she was unfamiliar with, so Ahsoka's already unconsciously moved out of Lea's way by the time he has his chakram back in hand, closer to the dragon but off to the side.

"Ahsoka," she offers, glancing back at him over her shoulder. "Let me know when you need a break from being decoy."

And then she's in motion again, darting forward a few steps underneath the dragon before the dragon realizes that Ahsoka's moving for her stomach and steps back with a distinctly unhappy growl. Before she can angle her neck to get any of her icy breath slowing the togruta down, though, Ahsoka jumps. Not just out of the way, but up higher than probably looks entirely possible, feet touching what counts as the dragon's shoulder for a hop onto the creature's back. She's mostly been swinging at limbs before, but this time, her lightsabers are focused on the creature's neck. Stubbornness will get some damage done up here, she's sure of it.

"Ahsoka," he repeats, getting a feel for the name. "Nice to meet'cha." He lets the chakrams fly again, aiming for the dragon's eyes. If he can blind her, even temporarily, it'll give them a much-needed advantage. "Don't you worry about me," he says then, giving Ahsoka a grin. "Like I said: I'm the best at running away. I can keep her busy, so you let me handle the distractions, and I'll let you handle the heavy hitting, got it memorized?"

And with that they split, Ahsoka going one way and Lea darting the other. He sends the chakrams flying again, just as the dragon whirls to try and evade Ahsoka's blades, and the spikes graze the great serpent's eyelid. She roars in pain, bringing one mighty claw up to her face to paw at the wound. It's not deep enough to cause any long-term damage, but they don't need it to last. So long as the dragon's attention is redirected long enough for Ahsoka to get a few good hits in, they should be all right.

Of course, it's never that easy, so Lea isn't letting his guard down. The chakram returns to his hand, and he jumps back to assess the situation again. He watches Ahsoka leap up and up and up, and he has to admit, he's impressed. She's fast and agile, and he's always been able to appreciate someone with a flair for a fight. He keeps a close eye on her posture; if she gets in a tough spot, he'll kick his distraction efforts up another notch, but for the moment it seems the dragon is too busy nursing her scratched eye.

The dragon's attention to her eye gives Ahsoka an opportunity do damage that she can't pass up. Splaying her legs for balance and stabs both of her sabers straight down into the back of creature's neck, leaning into the motion to push through the thick layer of scales. Just when she almost has her weapons buried to the hilt, the dragon rears back suddenly, roaring with anger. She seems far too likely to start spewing that icy breath of hers right at Lea, so Ahsoka yanks her lightsabers hard to the side; they still don't seem to be doing the critical damage to any sort of nervous system she'd like them to be, but the added motion has the dragon careening to one side, trying to shake Ahsoka loose.

Ahsoka's good but she can only hold on for so long at a time, eventually flicking her lightsabers off as she slides down the dragon's back, only to reactivate them again as she lands near one of her hind legs.

"Hey, Lea!" she calls out, taking a few steps back as the dragon starts to turn toward her. "You haven't noticed any conveniently placed soft spots, have you?"
