If your first thought upon waking up on the cold, hard ground of Hadriel's very own Colosseum is 'maybe I partied too hard last night', one, Delight would love you and two, you're wrong. Or- maybe you did, but that's not why you're here. Instead, you wake up with the same clothes you were wearing when you were last home, but surrounded by very different people. So, make some friends! Might as well voice your confusion and concern and show the technologically unsavvy of you how to operate these fancy new phones, right? Just be sure not to trip over these odd bags of chips on your way to greet your fellow man.
Don't spend too much time out in the open, though. There are monsters about, and not quite the usual ones. This month, Hadriel is bringing in four dragons, each with their own unique abilities and raidboss-esque stamina. They'll be terrorizing the city until someone puts them down- maybe that someone is you! Maybe you should, uh, actually hide. They're hungry and territorial and mean and they're definitely out for a good meal. Check out our OOC post for more information, as well as who will be eventually killing the beasts!
But hey, once you escape from the dragons, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.
New, as of October's intro log is a Newcomer's guide that installs itself by default on every activated phone. Thanks, Mello!
Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers October 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

She looked vexed by him, a common expression Will was noticing on her face whenever they were together. Normally he'd be amused but not now, Maketh was stronger and had a shorter fuse than Will, he'd already pushed his luck once with her, he wasn't about to make that mistake again.
"I can tell I'm an embarrassment to you. Its okay, I'm used to it, really. But I still don't know my way here yet, give me some time to adjust." Oh he knew the answer would be no, that it would be a stern look and a huffed out sigh followed by her enforcing their next action. Will welcomed it for a change, he was tired, weak and broken, perhaps it was better to just let Maketh take control and boss him around like a rookie cadet.
no subject
Maketh huffed, glaring at him openly. This time she didn't bother to hide her annoyance. Perhaps Will did not pose a direct threat to the people under her protection, but thus far he'd done nothing to make the job easier. He was loud and uncomfortably open with his emotion, and brought out things in her that Maketh did not like. She was torn between the impulses - to either beat him into complacent silence or - perhaps worse - to comfort him.
For a while, she had thought herself enlightened when it came to civilians. She could understood how their minds worked, why they came to the conclusions they did. Emily and Chris had shown her how. It had taken time, but Maketh respected them now. They were strong in their own right.
Will is something else entirely, an unknown factor, and one that will require patience to deal with. It will require conversation, analysis, and, much to her annoyance, time.
Nothing in Maketh wants to get close enough to know him. But the distance has already been closed. She's gotten this far. He's under her protection now and as such, must be kept alive.
No matter how difficult he makes that task.
Maketh curls her lip, not bothering to hide it. "Get up. We are going inside, where you will not draw undue attention to yourself. If you cannot be silent, then you will be out of sight, where nothing will see you and think you easy prey."
There is no room for argument.
no subject
So Maketh had finally came as close as most people do around Will? Close enough to want to back away, to want to take your frustration with him out on him or to attempt to comfort the broken mess of a man he was. Will would feel sorry for her, honestly he would, he wouldn't wish himself on another human, it was why he tried to spend as little time around them as possible. Something he would find near impossible to do here.
"I can be silent. I just... Got distracted.." Winston decided to bark then, turning his attention to the shadows passing by overhead in the street. The dog was more attuned to the Dragons and their whereabouts than Maketh or Will would have been, so when the heckles on the back of his neck shot up, and the dog began to snarl, it could only mean it sensed something coming.
Getting up, looking pale as he did so, his blood pressure was in his boots, he was still suffering with the after effects of being in shock. Wobbling a little, taking to steady himself by outstretching his hands.

Maketh went for her rifle without hesitation, pressing the scope to her eye, scanning the sight-lines. Nothing yet. But if the animal was concerned, then it wasn't far off. Something had broken through the perimeter.
"Will," she said, ever so calmly, "we are going to move now."
no subject
"If something dangerous is coming our way, sure would be nice if I had my gun." He hinted with a dash of sarcasm in his voice. He was still very badly shaken but knew better than to stay out in the open, Maketh wouldn't let him anyway, Will had a feeling she wouldn't think twice about restraining him and dragging him off, and that's not what he needs.
"Where?" Finally gaining some balance on his feet, taking Winston by the short lead he still had attached to his collar and coming to stand at Maketh's side.
no subject
The bar, she decides. Then she can stick Will out of sight, and then stare at the wall of bottles and fantasize about the drinking she'll do when she's finally off-duty.
The dog will becoming, Maketh supposes. Will seems attached.
It's not as dirty as it could be. Things could be worse.
"Your hands are shaking. You would shoot yourself before you hit anything useful." Maketh doesn't bother sugarcoating things these days. "Follow me. Now. We are going to the bar."
no subject
Winston was always well groomed, for his failures, Will thrived when looking after his animals, he'd put his dogs before himself back home. It was nice to have a familiar friend, having Winston there and all, but it made Will wonder if Alana was looking after the rest of them? If they'd ran off in search of him, heck he wondered if anyone was looking for him let alone his dogs.
Having seemingly got lost in thought for more than a long moment, Will shook his head and paid Maketh his full attention. "Bit early for a nightcap wouldn't you say?" He knew she'd take him seriously, or give him some spiel about how now wasn't the time for jokes. Still, Will as Will and he said and did as he pleased most of the time, even now, even as ill and tired as he was.
no subject
Dragging him to the guardpost is always an option, but this is easier.
"Hurry up! It's not far. You can...sit."
There, that's a positive.
no subject
He couldn't hurry as well as she wanted him to, so against his better judgement, Will reached out for her arm. Taking her by the elbow for support and aid, he liked it no more than she did, but it felt necessary so that he could both keep up with her and keep standing upright until they got there.
Winston was little to no help, ducking and weaving in and out of Will's legs, almost tripping him from time to time.
no subject
For better or worse, she only goes rigid and refrains from causing bodily harm. He didn't mean anything, he was off-balance and seeking support in staying upright. Simple, simple, brush it off.
Maketh grits her jaw so tight it hurts.
"In the future," she says, as calmly as she can manage, "you will refrain from touching me."
The bar is just ahead. She can dump him there and get back to patrolling.
no subject
"Don't worry... I'm not one so foolish I'd venture into the hornets nest without a stick of smoke to calm them." A panted breath. "I just needed something to hold, some support." He was exhausted. Though Will new better than to take her scolding personally, she seemed like the standoff-ish kind from the first time he met her, but given his current circumstances, Will did take it a little to heart. Trying not to let her see it, Will turned his head to the other side, quietly he sniffed back the start of more tears.
He was a mess.
no subject
Maketh has a feeling that Will is the type to remember what happens when he's drunk, though. And he might throw up again. Will probably throw up again.
No alcohol, then.
Stand tall and take it, soldier.
This is nothing. It means nothing. They're almost at the bar, it's fine.
Maketh grits her teeth. She has no idea what he means about these 'hornets'. "You are a frustrating individual. Let go so I can open the door."
no subject
As unstable as he was, Will let go of Maketh's arm as she opened the door. He had a feeling she was going to make sure the place was secure then leave Will here to take care of himself. He knew he was a burden to her, made her feel uncomfortable and annoyed.
He liked being alone but he felt more unstable then normal and he would have secretly welcomed Maketh's company. She had to displeasure of having got to know him more than he would have liked, she was the most stable thing in this place that he had and that was saying something.
Winston darted in from between Will's legs and jumped up onto one of the seats before settling down. Will hobbled and wobbled his way over to follow. Slumping down on a pew to lay on his back, panting and sweating as he did.
no subject
Probably not, though.
She ducks behind the bar, searching for something.
Eventually she stalks back to Will's seat, and drops a bucket at his feet.
"Puke in that if you must."
no subject
The sound of the bucket crashing to his feet snapped him back to his senses. Sitting up a bit slowly and aching, Will picked the bucket up and set it beside him on the seat. "Thank you." He uttered, watching her as she stalker around.
"Do you think we'll be safe in here?" Swallowing after he spoke, his mouth dray and salty. Looking around the well kept bar, spotting the drinks all stacked up behind the counter and wondering if he'd be able to get one without Maketh arguing against it or taking it from him. "Did you see any water back there?" He decided on the better option.
no subject
Probably. He'd be safer if he went to the clinic as requested, but that seemed unlikely. Dragging him there by force would be too much trouble at this stage. There were other concerns that must be addressed first.
Maketh frowns down at the dog. "Is this yours?"
She gets him a bottle of water, in the meantime.
no subject
As she frowned at Winston, Will also frowned a little. "He's my friend. Play nice."
Patting the side of his shin, Winston coming running over in an instance. It wasn't that Will thought she would harm the dog, but he didn't want Winston to feel worried around Maketh.
Reaching out for the water, looking a little less pathetic than previously. "So those dragons... Is this the norm here or did I miss a memo about a special occasion?"
no subject
no subject
No, I don't suppose they are. And these God's ... They brought me here too, through the very same door?
[ He was even more curious now. If it was the God's intent to bring those that were a threat, then why was Maketh here? They'd already established that Will was a possible threat, it really depended on how you looked at him, but Maketh here seemed to be working for the good of the people. What was her hidden agenda? ]
no subject
They claim that it is beyond their control, that they have no say over what comes through. No doubt this is a lie, or at least a deflection. The monsters are useless to them except for the emotions they provoke in us.
[Her face hardens.]
The emotions of a dog, for example, are insufficient to feed upon.
no subject
Of course. Heh... So what we're dealing with here, is more like a brood vampires... Ones that feed off us by sucking out our emotions rather than draining the blood... I don't believe they're God's at all.
[ Upon her comment about dogs, Will ruffled Winston's fur and motioned for him to come lay down at his feet, to which of course the dog obeyed. ]
We only provide them sufficient food if we're in distress?
no subject
Not distress, precisely. But they're named for the emotion they feed off of. Rage, Fear, Anger, Sorrow, Delight. Hope.
[She hates him most of all.]
They engineer situations to generate whatever is needed when they get hungry enough. Quite often it is...distressing.
no subject
Sounds like an experiment if you ask me. What about the God Indignation? You'd think that bastard would have show up by now, I mean, I can't imagine anyone here who thinks this to fair or deserved...
[ He's just upset and struggling, he'll stop being a jerk. ]
no subject
Well. Nothing else, at least.]
I would not say as much to Hope. He likes to think he's reasonable. As if we should thank him for keeping us here. Oh, how generous he is, providing food for his brother to poison us with.
[Maketh bares her teeth.]
You ought to be careful, Will Graham. Fear likes to feed us corpses.
no subject
... The God's are here too? As in, fully interacting? With a body and a voice?
[ How stupid are these people!? It was frustrating for Will, it would have been so easy to simply state yourself as a God and get away with whatever bullshit operation they had going on here. It was probably just people with power over the Cave!.
He was about to go off on a tangent, until Maketh's last 6 words. Will froze in place. A look over his expression that said it all. He was both shocked and petrified at the same time.
Did she know? No, how could she!? But then why did she say that?
It took him a moment to compose himself and even then Will felt that his own face would give his fear away. He went pale, clammy and stared at her, something he always avoided doing.]
I-
[ He was about to speak when out from behind Maketh came the ghostly image of Garret Jacob Hobbs. Corpse-like with still seeping bullet holes oozing as he spoke. ]
Oh and boy do you have plenty of those in your closet. Almost as many as me, I'd say.
[ The corpse said as he walked around Maketh. Will hoped that she wouldn't be able to tell he was hallucinating, he hoped that she wouldn't notice the way his eyes followed something that wasn't there. ]
