Intro Log: HOLY F*^K THAT'S A F*&KI%G DRAGON

What: The intro log for October
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: October 10th-13th
Warnings: New faces, new greeting posts, and dragons. What's more to want?

If your first thought upon waking up on the cold, hard ground of Hadriel's very own Colosseum is 'maybe I partied too hard last night', one, Delight would love you and two, you're wrong. Or- maybe you did, but that's not why you're here. Instead, you wake up with the same clothes you were wearing when you were last home, but surrounded by very different people. So, make some friends! Might as well voice your confusion and concern and show the technologically unsavvy of you how to operate these fancy new phones, right? Just be sure not to trip over these odd bags of chips on your way to greet your fellow man.

Don't spend too much time out in the open, though. There are monsters about, and not quite the usual ones. This month, Hadriel is bringing in four dragons, each with their own unique abilities and raidboss-esque stamina. They'll be terrorizing the city until someone puts them down- maybe that someone is you! Maybe you should, uh, actually hide. They're hungry and territorial and mean and they're definitely out for a good meal. Check out our OOC post for more information, as well as who will be eventually killing the beasts!

But hey, once you escape from the dragons, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.

[Maketh just frowns at him. She's not interesting in getting comfortable, regardless of how long they're stuck here.]

I see. There is a library here, though I cannot say if it will hold any information of use to your studies. Nor will you find many things that respect any laws but that of brute force.

So what you're saying is, basically, pong is going to be my greatest asset.

[mismanagement]

I would hope not. [Maketh eyes him up and down.] Very little in this place will hesitate to kill you. But there are a few here around...your own age.

[College students, and what not.]

That may be a comfort to you. I would not know.

That depends. Are they cute?

[this is truly a very special definition of the word "comfort." but truly its this or start panicking again and this is the life connor chooses to lead]

[Maketh chooses to believe that's the stress making him say foolish things. Otherwise she may be on the verge of another headache. By the stars, please let it be the stress.]

What, is celibacy some kind of prerequisite to joining the guard team?

Why. Why is this her life?

Maketh feels her eye twitching and puts her hand over it.]

I am not discussing this with you.

I'm sure there's someone out there for you.

[what was that she just said? about not discussing? hm]

[Is this a thing children do? Oh, Maketh knows he's not technically a child, but Connor still feels insanely young to her. She wonders if she was ever that much trouble to her instructors.]

That is hardly your concern.

[There's a low tone in her voice, warning him not to go further.]

[connor puts his hands up in an "i surrender" gesture]

Okay, I got it.

[mismanagement]

[She narrows her eyes, watching him a moment.

Good. He understands the rules.]

If you have less foolish questions, ask them now.

[he is actually capable of asking good questions, luckily. working for annalise made them a necessity.]

The guide said that people had spoken with the gods - they didn't get any meaningful answers from them?

[mismanagement]

[Maketh nods just once. So he's quick. Despite the shock of arrival and whatever foolishness he felt like engaging with, Connor knows enough to zero in on the important information. Interesting.

Perhaps he'll be of use after all.]

Information was received. Very little can be verified and nothing prevents them from lying.

Yeah, that's what I would be afraid of too. Have people met with them in person or was this all done over the internet?

[he is working to be a lawyer he has to get some skills from that]

[mismanagement]

Always over the phones.

[Maketh nods, pleased.]

It's unclear if they even posses physical bodies. Thus far we've found no way to hurt them effectively.

[iustitiae]

So it's even possible it's all just a hoax anyway.

[there's something interesting in how she phrased her last statement, though]

You guys have tried hurting them? Why?

[mismanagement]

Possible. Nonethless, the effects are clear.

[Maketh narrows her eyes.]

As one retaliates against an enemy that harms them, of course. Should we take torture lying down?

[iustitiae]

[connor shakes his head]

No, I don't mean that. I didn't word it very well, it's really more of a multi-part thing. [foundation, walsh. get it together.] First, I guess I'm still thinking about the part where not all of the gods are necessarily negative emotions. Some of them even seem to be in opposition? Like hope and fear. Do they all act against us?

[he pauses. he should give her a chance to answer, not just bombard her with questions, he knows that.]

If they don't have physical forms, though, how did you even make the attempt?

[mismanagement]

They are in league with each other. We are food to them and nothing better. Our survival is ensured only because we are useful.

[Maketh's opinions about the gods have never been subtle.]

An attempt was made to force them to show themselves by attacking their temples. It was ill-planned and had adverse reactions.

[iustitiae]

Great.

[she may not be subtle, but it's easy to believe her when he's had so many lessons about learning not to trust people even when they act like they want to help. why should gods be any different?]

So regardless of whether or not they are who they claim to be, they definitely are powerful.

[mismanagement]

Without question.

[Maketh inclines her head slightly.]

They have brought us back from the dead before. It's not a pleasant process, but it is within their capabilities. They have enacted containment measures around the caves so we cannot leave, and often engineer events to generate whatever emotion they require at the time. Yes, they are powerful.

[iustitiae]

So is there any actual good news?

[mismanagement]

You are alive.

[Maketh doesn't smile.]

If you are alive, then you can fight. That is the only thing that matters.
