Event Log: Why Do You Have To Be Mad?

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Rage event!
Where: All around the city
When: December 15th-December 20th
Warnings: None! Well, potentially rage-induced destruction and fighting and maybe a tiny bit of murder? So, nothing out of the ordinary.

December is usually a time of festive holiday cheer... unfortunately, Hadriel isn't the sort of place that respects holidays. Rage has decided that it's time she's given her due and has put on another event! Unfortunately for everyone in the city, this event means that all characters are given a particularly aggravating pet peeve that entirely sets them into a flying rage.

See someone sleeping? They're now the object of your ire. See a tall building with a bunch of windows? Suddenly, all those windows need to be smashed. Fights are breaking out with depressing regularity, and a couple of them might be severe enough to injure someone in a bad way.

Look out for your fellow prisoners in Hadriel, and do try to figure out the categorizations of each person's issue fast- falling into these cycles of anger isn't good for anyone and is bound to make someone mad if you treat them wrong. Conversely, instead you can just find someone who has the same loathing as you and let your feelings amplify one another; after all, the best sort of friendship is one that's formed by mutual hatred!

► This log covers December 15th-December 20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get too caught up in your feelings and start a fight only to see that the person who pissed you off was really good at fighting, or if someone blew up the building you were kinda living in, please let us know here!
► As a final note, if you were not sorted and you would like to be, then please let us know in response to this post!

Least he ain't obliged to make a big deal outta it. That's always nice. People inevitably do, but it's always a nice change of pace when someone just takes an introduction like that and rolls with it.

Sans grins.

"Heh. Why not? Don't got anything else to do." Besides, there's an awful lotta windows there, and windows are uniformly useless and terrible.

Curufin grins back.

"Good! Then let's use up the dynamite. But may I ask? -- I was curious about what what I saw when I first laid eyes on you. A fire sprang up in your eye-socket when you blasted that building with your power. What sort of energy is that? Does it come from your soul?"

And he sets up for the next section of wall, but meanwhile listening and very interested in what kind of power Sans has -- even if this personable monster isn't exactly avid to use it. That doesn't affect Curufin's insatiable curiosity.

"My SOUL?" Curious. This'd be one of the first people to acknowledge the existence of such a thing, even in passing. Didn't really mean to ignite the old eyesocket, really. It just kinda happened, and he always knows when it happens, 'cause it's like someone stuck a red-hot poker down into his skull and seared the inside of it to pieces.

"You know about SOULs, huh?" He opts to deflect and not answer the question at all. He does that. "You'd be the first person to bring somethin' like that up."

"Souls, yes. We Elves are very conscious of having them." He gives a snort of laughter. "Especially those of us who have had our souls unhoused, as we say. Experienced death, that is."

And Curufin can relate to the idea of using power accidentally, and not noticing until a physical sensation draws it to his attention. Disconcerting experience!

"Why? -- doesn't anybody else in Hadriel ever think about such things? Tell me about souls. What is your understanding of them?"

Elves, huh? So he ain't human, but Sans has long since stopped puttin' stock in appearance as an evaluation of one's species or character. He's four feet of bones and bad puns - who's he to judge, huh?

"Some people don't come from worlds where they talk about those kinds of things," says Sans, easily. He shrugs, seemingly perfectly unconcerned about the notion. He's had months to get used to it.

Unhoused, though. That's sure a word for it.

"You, uh, experienced death, then?"

"But they do talk about such things in your world, Sans?" Curufin figures that if anybody knows about death, a skeleton would. What sort of world must Sans come from? "Tell me about your soul?"

"Yes, I died. What an experience! I'm a warrior, and I made war on one of the great Elf-kingdoms. They didn't call me Kinslayer for nothing, I'm afraid. I killed my enemy, but I was mortally wounded and died soon after. And then, as a spirit, I spent several hundred years drifting about the world, the Void, the shadow paths, and the Path of Dreams, and I even skulked about the fringes of the realm of the dead. Very educational, all of it."

"From time to time." Mostly in relation to the strength of human SOULs, considerably more powerful than the SOULs of monsters.

He's a warrior, then. A human word for killer. A person whose life is couched in death. Sounds familiar, don't it?

He still don't really answer the question. Doesn't elaborate on the matter of his own SOUL. Who wants to hear anything about that, huh? It ain't anything special. Far too flimsy to be of any use to anyone.

"Killed plenty of people, huh?" His tone is dry, just south of cold.

Curufin had visited, recently, during the time Hadriel had scooped up some people from other places, entertained them briefly with the utterly bizarre nature of itself, and then flushed them out again. He had spoken with a strange but very friendly little goat-monster named Azriel, who had told him about the difference in power between human and monster souls. And that was apparently the explanation of former wars between humans and monsters.

Oh yes, Curufin is a killer, and he would not even think of denying it. It feels very natural to him, still -- even though he has had the chance to experience the horrible consequences to himself and his family, and witness the dreadful effects it can have on others. But he is what he is. Nowadays, he merely tries not to kill the innocent.

He answers with a sideways glance at Sans, in which there is some humor, despite the subject. "Yes, I've killed a lot of people. You might say it's my vocation."

"And yourself? Have you killed anybody?"

"Nope."

And there ain't no excuse for that sorta thing either, in his mind. His grin is mirthless and full of ice, the lights in his eyesockets glinting with a frosted-over emptiness. If it were any other day, if his temper weren't running bright cold, he might not've cared to this extent.

"That's the sorta thing," says Sans, low and deliberate, "that taints your SOUL unchangeably."
