It's Sushi Time!

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-16th
Warnings: Murdercrabs for the murdercave. A delicacy!

It's early in the morning when you feel the telltale thud of hitting hard-packed earth. Whether you're used to the feeling or not, you'll probably have a bruise or two from hitting the ground, which is another way to say Welcome to Hadriel!

In our beautiful city of Hadriel, you can find many treasures and wonders, like the creepy cat clocks, or the baby face cuckoo clocks, or some dali clocks, or... well, they're all clocks, and lucky for you, they all have different times set on their hands!

Be careful not to spend too much time lingering around with the timepieces, as there are monsters afoot! You should be careful or you'll be overrun by war crabs! These mollusk-like creatures are several feet in diameter and a few hundred pounds, so be careful when dealing with them! They're also capable of utilizing their steam-powered machinery to launch rusty grenades and musket bullets at you- don't think that close range is a good idea either, as their sharp pincers can amputate entire limbs, and they're quicker than they seem.

You might want to get out of this place as soon as possible- maybe one of the other folks around you can lend a hand? Sure, they might be just as confused as you, but there's strength in numbers, after all!

After you've find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers August 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[He's got the longer legs, but their athletic level is roughly the same, for all that he gets to scramble around outside more often. Five to thirty minutes is acceptable.]

How do you know? Maybe it's in the other half. [Ha ha ha.] Or maybe you can tackle it like a code. E is the most common letter in English--look for the most common crab hieroglyph.
nonscriptum: this is the second strangest thing I've ever heard (I can safely say)

See, I wouldn't've thought of that!

[He exclaims, because his first tact is never "move methodically," it's more like "throw word spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks."]

At this rate, we'll translate crab hieroglyphs in three years, instead of forty.

Good! Because I'm in this for the long haul, but I don't want to be working on the same thing when we're old and gray.

[Not that she wants to still be trapped in a cave in a few decades. But she wouldn't put it past future-Nate to find a way home and still be determined to translate the books he brought back as souvenirs.]

Go team, right?
nonscriptum: we're gonna turn this debacle into a straight up "bacle" (don't worry. it's gonna be fine.)

You bring up a good question, though, [Nate points out, rummaging around in his bag for another apple. He'll savor what little fresh produce they have, while they have it.] Do we age here?

[Not that he's opposed to aging - and thinks both of them would do it pretty damn well - but is it ever possible in Hadriel?]

What if we're hot forever?

[The question itself is a little unsettling. Not aging seems alien, wrong somehow, yet she doesn't want to spend a large chunk of her life in a place where she's got no control over...just about anything, really.

So she just won't think too hard about it. Instead, she'll lean up to speak in a low tone by his ear.]

Then we'll have to spend years and years being really attractive people doing it in new and interesting places. Let no corner of the cave go unspoiled.
