What: The event log for the Shining, Shimmering, Splashing event, as well as new world exploration and rebuilding!
Where: All over the city, and beyond!
When: December 13th-26th
Warnings: Way too much sun, water that makes you feel weird, and some monsters
Welcome to the new Hadriel. It's pretty much like the old Hadriel, except for all the destroyed buildings - oh, and the sky above you. With two suns, and a whole world to explore if that's what you're into. But is it safe? Of course not, are you new or something? Arriving on this new world doesn't change much about the layout of the city, but it certainly changes what you have to deal with. Of course, that's mostly thanks to the Null.
Because of Hope's near-death and subsequent slow recovery, life in Hadriel overall is just a little - or a lot - harder than it used to be. Food in the shops is nearly impossible to find, the orchard has been partially burned (and with Sorrow dead, won't be growing much anytime soon), and there's no running water. It's time to explore, rebuild, and try to survive without the help of the one god that was providing most of the amenities. Of course, you're not the only ones who need to eat - the monsters that were brought along with the city are getting hungry, too. Of course, some of them are edible, so maybe the fact that they're coming into the city to try and eat you makes them more like a convenient food delivery system - if you can munch them before they munch you.
And the water... well, that's another story. There are pools around the god temples now, and the water is perfectly safe to drink. The only down side there is that it'll induce emotion in you. Drink a glass of Love water and you'll find yourself inclined towards warm feelings, fix a cup of coffee with Rage water and you'll have a bit of trouble with that temper. You might get a few blessing effects, too, if you're lucky. But what can you do? Unaffected running water won't be working for a few days, so enjoy those mood swings!► This log covers December 13th-December 26th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you manage to get yourself killed after you've finally escaped the Null, let us know here.

Elrond | Open!
Elrond wasn't about to just leave the wounded trees alone. They needed help, and with other healers about, he decided to turn his focus to seeing what he could do to heal the orchard which provided food to all. Elves still needed to eat, if less than others- just for one reason. It also hurt to see the trees in such poor shape.
He wasn't the master bard Maglor was, but he'd coaxed rivers to do his bidding in the past. He'd encouraged trees to settle into certain arrangements, to grow and thrive even when others thought they wouldn't or couldn't.
Wildcard: Elrond can be anywhere! Making more bandages, healing stuff, just plain exploring the new world, etc.
Orchard
Fingon grimly eyed the remnants of the orchard. There was so little left, from what he could tell....
"And is there anything I can do to help?"

Orchard
Those damn trees looked like they were in bad shape. And Seel wasn't exactly a gardener. But he knew how to irrigate crops and help them survive in a hot wasteland like this, and that was bound to come in handy.
"I'm not sure these trees are going to be in any shape to help us unless we help them."

Aren Brosca | Open
Finally. Not only was the war of attrition with the Null is over, Hadriel is now on the surface of...some place. After spending most of her life stuck underground, Aren finds this a turn for the better. It's still not Thedas, but at least she's not reminded so much of Orzammar, right?
So it's not long before she's armed and armored up, ready to take on what lies beyond the city. The monsters, previously of the tunnels, are now her target as she hunts them among the rocky dunes. Of course, she's not alone; Barkspawn is at her side and together they'll take on monsters, explore everything that can be explored (except the underwater caves) and enjoy life in the sun again. If anyone seems to be heading the same way, she'll wave them along. The more, the merrier.
Heatstroke
Unfortunately, all of Aren's survival techniques are situated for a much cooler, less arid climate. Even avoiding the hottest period of the day isn't enough, and it's easy to underestimate the dangers until it's almost too late. Thanks to her boundless curiosity, ignorance and pale skin (head, neck and hands) that's never needed covering, it's not long before Aren staggers back to the city in a weakened state. Her flushed face is growing to be as red as her hair, and she sways from dizzy spell after dizzy spell. Barkspawn, having gotten more share and water thanks to her protectiveness, provides support and starts barking for attention from anyone in range.
Of course, one of the best ways to fight heat sickness is to rehydrate and that means going for the pools of water around the temples....
Tranquility
Several big gulps later, and Aren is...utterly mellow. The fierce sunburn on her face and neck would leave anyone in pain, but in her eyes it simply doesn't matter anymore. Barkspawn, having needed less than his mistress, isn't quite as laid-back but definitely not the anxious barking mess of earlier. Sitting by the pool, she looks up and casually waves upon hearing footsteps. Hello, nothing unusual to see here.
Fear
Aren would never have taken water from Fear's pool if she had realized it for what it was, but her haste to relieve thirst had toppled all else. It isn't long before her stomach is in knots from anxiety and her heart is racing as she backs up to place herself against the nearest wall. Everything seems calm, but that doesn't seem to reassure her, not at all. Barkspawn, who's only lapped at the water a little, watches her with a questioning whine, but she ignores that and tries to shush him while glancing around warily.
This time, Aren isn't going to be as welcoming as usual. Anyone who approaches, even someone familiar, will have her gesturing frantically for them to stop. "Stay back!"
Rage
Later, realizing what came of drinking the pools, Aren decides she'd rather be a mellow blob or a bundle of anxiety. Rage has its uses, and if her own will is strong enough, it could be used wisely. So she'll try a couple of handfuls, sensing the spark of irritation growing within her but deciding she knows where best to direct it. The dwarf woman can be seen departing the city again for the dunes, ready to beat the snot out of some monsters. If she notices someone following them, she pause and frown. "You can come along, if you know what you're doing. Just don't slow us down."
Love
Aren's not the most outwardly affectionate of people, usually. However, the water settling in her own makes her a little more open to such things. She lingers even after realizing which temple it is, smiling at any who approach. If they're familiar, her personal space is considerably less but even with those she doesn't know, there's a sense of camaraderie that isn't quite so easily shed. Whether or not she'll own up to it later, who knows. But for now, it's a little easier to let those 'squishy' feelings up to the surface.
Barkspawn, already an affectionate wall of muscle, is even more so now. If you've come to get some water by the temple, you'll also have a happily barking, nuzzling, great war hound all up in your business. Let's hope you're a dog person.
Wildcard
Want Aren anywhere in particular? Got an idea of your own? Here's the place to make it happen.
Fear
"Why?" She calls back, looking at Aren again. "What's going on?"

Trafalgar Law - OPEN
I.
[It doesn't take Law very long to figure out what's going on with the pools, maybe two days at most. Of course, that knowledge doesn't come without a little accidental experimentation. The nearest temples to his usual haunts are Hope, Fear, and Confusion. It's the latter two that finally clue him in.
Fear has him lurking in the shadows of buildings, gripping his sheathed sword anxiously and looking every which way for invisible enemies - or genuinely visible ones.]
...what is that? Did one of the Null slip through? No... [it's probably a Working Joe, not much of a threat. Or actually a Stalker, which is way more of threat]
[Confusion predictably has him stumbling around lost. He's basically turned into Zoro for a few hours.]
I swear the shop was this way. How did I end up at the park? [please grab him before he stumbles into one of the pools and legit drowns]
II.
[Once in his right mind, Law goes into research mode, at least when he's not helping at the clinic rebuild. First stop, the lab, because even without power they have glassware and other supplies for boiling water and other things. He doesn't get anywhere testing the water (other than that it's drinkable) but he does figure out that the seaweed is safe to eat.
Which, in turn, leads to some good old fashioned pirate-style hunting and gathering! Law can be found around the pools just beyond the city's edge during the tolerable periods of the day, collecting seaweed and using whatever line and hook he's cobbled together to fish. Once in a while, though, someone might stumble on him cheating...]
Room. Takt. [and fish just seem to jump of their own volition into his bucket. WHO'S HUNGRY?]
III.
[Compared to two weeks of constant, hardcore battle against the Null, fighting monsters is easy. Even small packs of Varrens coming to try to hunt people are no trouble at all. Law doesn't really have the time to dedicate to doing a lot of protecting, but once in a while if he happens to see something on the prowl, he'll take the fight to them immediately. Maybe you're the creature's intended prey? You're safe now, he's got this.]
I wonder how edible these are.
IV.
[Wildcard: find him camped out by a pool, too hot and tired to go home but unable to swim to cool down. Find him in the Speakeasy doing like all good pirates do and substituting booze for water. Find him by Sorrow's temple, which he has determined is safe.]

Atem | ota! (will match format)
There is this kid, finally showing his face after a few days of good sleep. But now he's hungry and so damn thirsty. The first days, he wears nothing else but his bed sheets (yep), sometimes around his waist or like a toge or like robe (he covers his head with it when it's unbearable hot) but he manages pull off that look in an actually quite stylish manner. A red, small serpent like creature with small wings hangs from his shoulders, basking in the sun. For those who had seen Osiris before, it's easy to recognize the dragon, even in this incredibly small size of his. Atem is not about to risk his neck in a place infested with the remnants of the monsters from the caves.
But even for someone so used to the heat (even if this body of his might not be...) he paces around the city and towards the pools of water. Without running water elsewhere, it's the only way to get what he needs, or maybe he's around the shops, scavenging to find anything to eat or any supplies. Maybe he can be seen near Hope's temple, waiting for certain dragoon to appear...
While it doesn't take too long to figure out what's up with the water, even he needs to drink some, especially under this heat.. so, maybe, when you bump into him, he might have had a drink before, so, take your pick: love, rage, hope, confusion, tranquility and brace yourself.
( two suns )
「It is not easy to get used to this climate, even he is having some trouble, it probably won't be weird to find people trying to get used to it. Shall he find someone who looks way too tired from the heat, he'll approach and try to make some shade between them and the sun(s). He's just so tiny, though, hopefully you're sitting down or something...」
Hey, are you okay?
「He's already reaching for the container full of water that he's carrying on his belt.」
You shouldn't be outside right now. Do you need a drink?
「Then again... who knows where he filled that, it probably is from Sorrow's, but, it could be from any other pool that's under their influence of some god... Again, choose your favorite god and let's play along. 」
( dem pets... )
Near to Sorrow's temple, there is Atem, sitting down near to the pool of water next to what seems to be a fireplace. Don't worry, it is not? Because who would be so damn crazy to light up a fire under this scorching sun! No, don't worry, it is one of those little cute salamanders that came through the Door. It is doing absolutely nothing but chill, as ironic as it might be, but that is not the strangest thing in the picture, there also happens to be one golden bird-like creature (a bit too scally for that...?) that's keeping the salamander in check from burning absolutely everything as its heat and little flames do not seem to affect it at all.
The young man gives small pieces of raw fish to the salamander from time to time as he munches the very last sandwich he managed to prepare from what was left in his pantry. Come steal some of his sandwich or tell him about fire hazards... or whatever.
( city outskirts and little beyond )
「It took him a few days to decide to venture into the unknown, not precisely alone, but perhaps he should have brought a human(ish) companion with him. Finally being able to put something else on other than a few bed sheets, he ventures into the wild, armed with one golden dragon (tiny as a horse) and a sword hanging from his duelist belt, Atem goes about exploring a little further beyond the city. He's not about to stay out there when the night comes, if he can help it, it might be terrible for someone who cannot stand cold that much, the prior nights (if he could call them that way) have proven to be a bit of a challenge. But the timing of these days are still terribly confusing, who knows if he will make it back on time.
Having taken Ra as a mount for a while, soon, he finds himself surrounded by nothing but desert, a few dunes here and there, a few other pools and very little plants. It would be comforting if not for the fact that he is not about to fool himself, this is not home. A few minutes more into the landscape and he finds one of the biggest pools he's seen so far, glistening beautifully under the suns. He approaches and drinks some of the water, there is no influence whatsoever that he can feel, but he does notice he cannot see the bottom of the pool, it seems incredibly deep... Hmm, let's go for a swim, huh?
Perhaps you will find him as you are exploring as well, maybe before he goes into the pool, or you go far enough to find those lonely clothes folded next to the edge and you might want for yourself or maybe you're just passing by and suddenly someone comes out of the pool for air, well wouldn't that make anyone jump out of their skin?! Oops. 」
( wildcard )
「Give me anything your heart desires! From the bar to the clinic or the springs, even one of the temples if that's your wish! PP or plurk at me! Also if you could please fill his permission posts, I'll really appreciate it.」
Dem Pets!
He was making his way over to Sorrow's temple to refill a canteen, when he spotted Atem. And two creatures he was feeding. He crouched down next to him, letting water fill up his bottle, and arched an eyebrow.]
Is that one of the lizards that came through the Door this time?
You realize that thing could burn up what valuable resources we have left.

alphys | ota, will match format!
[The city moves, and the change is immediate, and very, very noticed.
The thing is, Monsters had been living underground for millennia before Alphys had been born. It was a fact that she had never properly seen the sun. She remembers, being one of the privileged few to get to see the Barrier when Asgore had brought her there for the first time; it was the only place in the Underground that you could truly tell if it was light or day outside, because the sun would move outside it. Alphys remembers thinking it was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen.
In the time since then, she's been in two different fake versions of the Surface, both due to Tranquility. And they were nice, were-- well, kind. She's adapted to the fake rhythm the city gives with it's lights, and seeing as her apartment is further underground, it's never been an issue.
But one moment, the lighting is artificial, and dull. And the next, real sunlight is streaming in through the lab window.
If someone were to find Alphys, she's just standing outside of the entrance to the lab, hands at her sides, staring up to the sky. She's not looking quite into the sun- that would be very, very painful- but she is just... watching. Feeling. Occasionally, she closes her eyes and blinks away a few tears.
She made it. She actually made it. Where no monster, until now, has ever stood.
She's not sure she knows how to feel.]
ii. [during the event] all the things i'd wish to see, i know are waiting there for me
[She wants to be outside, as much as possible. However, the more reports she sees about the water, the more things seem... questionable. Alphys can be found over the next week or so at any of the different temples, carrying a little handheld beeping device and taking tiny water samples. More than anything, though, she seems absolutely elated the entire time. Very few in the city have probably ever seen her this thrilled.
If she sees someone she knows, she'll happily wave towards them. But even if she doesn't, you'll be greeted with a smile.
Better to see her than the other type of monsters around here, right?]
i!!!!!!!!
This is new.
He heads outside, all hype to start checking out this shiny new planet he has never been to another planet before this is the tits ahhhh but he stops short when he sees Alphys just, well, standing there.
Oh yeah. He remembers what she told him in her dream. Is this the first time she's been, like, outside? Whoa.]
Hey, dude. [He makes his way over to stand next to her and claps a hand on her shoulder.] This is pretty wild, huh? You good?

Bianca | Rage's Temple/Around the City | Open
As the sun appears and the remaining Null are slowly exterminated, she becomes more visible. She stalks the more dangerous or edible monsters from the alleys or rooftops of the city, wearing white or dirty tan instead of her usual black against the sunshine. She's gaunt and her skin is darkening, and she walks with a hitch that speaks to a mostly-healed injury in the battle.
When she isn't hunting or foraging the shops for anything that might be alcoholic or usable for distilling alcohol, she sits outside Rage's temple, her bad leg stretched out in front of her and her hyenas at her sides, staring out over the water and apparently meditating. When the suns get too hot for even Bianca's tolerance, she retreats inside the temple.
[Note: Bianca is crashing at Rage's temple and drinking her water and is therefore permanently pissy for this event. Sorry about that.]

Pools on the Outside of Town - OTA
He's missed it terribly. The feeling of being submerged and disconnected from everything else. The peace of it. Its been over a year since he's been able to dive into water and truly let go of everything else.
So even though it may not be the most advisable choice, when Rosen finds the pools on the outside of town, he spends the first day or so eyeing them. Then testing them with a hand. A foot. And then come the 15th he shrugs off his shirt and his trousers and in just his boxers he goes for it, diving with a grace normally uncharacteristic for Rosen into the water.
Perhaps you'll yell at him for being reckless. Or perhaps you'll be shocked that he's only in his boxers. Or hell, maybe you'll want to give it a go yourself.]
Ed Grayson | open
[Ed might not have been in Hadriel long, but he had been locked up for a few years before arriving. So once he sees the surface of this beautiful, alien place, and discovers that they're free to roam it, he's beyond delighted. He's just happy to be outside again, and while it's nice, the lack of civilization does make him rather homesick. He'll do his best to stay optimistic, a lot of it depends on what god's pool he's visited recently.
Ed can be found in a few places, but mostly while exploring, he's looking at the plant life, disappointed in how sparse it is. It's going to be hard to start alchemical research with such a poor selection. Oh, right, and food. It was pretty bad for farming, as well. At least there was seaweed... Lots of seaweed. He'll be drying some of that out in the hot sun(s), not looking too thrilled about chewing on some.]
[Tranquility's temple]
[If you're going to hang out at a temple, it might as well be the nice, chill one. Ed will be here during downtime, mostly when both suns are out, trying to take refuge from the sun. For a pale ass white dude, though, he doesn't have an ounce of sunburn on him. Must be lucky, right?
You can catch him writing in the only notebook he managed to save during the whole Null ordeal. His remaining pencil is getting awfully short, though.]

Prussia | open
[Prussia's pretty excited to get to see the outside world, no matter what world it is. He's been in Hadriel for over 10 months now, and the idea of fresh air, sunshine and nature is so enticing, even to this guy who has a tendency to hide in his brother's basement for months on end back home. Of course, as soon as he hits the sunlight, he has to stumble back inside, cursing loudly. He should proooobably adjust his eyes a little slowly at first.
Not to mention that once he's outside, he's going to get sunburned in no time. The re eyes, pale skin, white hair... Even if he wasn't underground for months on end, this would probably happen. Too bad no one thought to pack some sunscreen. He'll merrily try to ignore it anyway, forging ahead as Prussia always does, but someone might want to convince him to take a break from all the exploring and monster fighting. Especially since he just got over being dead for a week. Again.]
Ich wird gut!
[It should be mentioned that he's come back a little broken this time. After dying twice close together, and one of those times being during the Null attack, he didn't quite resurrect at 100%. More like 99.5%. While he can still understand everyone else, the only thing that can come out of him, for some reason, is his native German. It's frustrating, because he spoke plenty of languages even outside of Hadriel. Maybe some person out there can actually understand him, but otherwise there's going to be a lot of pantomiming going on.]
[Various temples/pools]
[At first, Prussia doesn't really care which god's temple he has to go to for water. Right now, he's not happy with any of them, but water is pretty important in this hot landscape. He could be under the effect of any of the emotions, so proceed with caution!
What he will be doing a lot of, whether at the god temples or out and about, is swimming or lounging in the pools. There's a lot of work to be done, but he's burning up like a marshmallow over a campfire out here. Cooling down is important. Care to join?]

Maglor | Open - by Hope's pool, mostly
Mostly, he is by Hope's pool, where the echo still whispers in the water. He is singing - songs of long ago, of innocence and joy, but also those of later days, of battles won and battles lost, and the thread of light that runs through them.
Utulien aure! Morning is come.
He sits by the pool and pours Hope into the water, in golden notes spun from his voice (his hands still cramp too badly to use his harp). Maybe it will help, maybe it won't. It cannot hurt to try, he supposes. Perhaps it is because he drinks from the pools there himself, but he is rather more cheerful than his wont.

Ravine. | OTA
That's all she is in this place, really. An existence. There isn't much use of her to the living when her task is to aid, comfort, and guide the dead. Not much of that covers the ones who keep coming back.
From time to time, the songs of unseen birds echo and linger throughout the city. Sometimes, that's where Ravine is, even if she goes unnoticed. Perhaps those have that sense of feeling watched, but regardless of their intuition, she's gone before she or her birds go noticed.
It wasn't long after their arrival to this strange new planet that Ravine had decided to take a little trip out into their new home. This is an endeavor that she still intends to carry out, even if she must journey alone. But hopefully that won't be the case.
This time, one might actually see a woman in long red and black clothes wandering out into the rocky plains, on the outskirts of the city limits. Her attire is hardly fitting for traveling across a barren land of varying degrees of heat, and yet she is hardly phased by the temperature of the duel suns.
Join her, stop her, speak to her. Ravine has the time. Either way, she tips her head back towards the blinding light in the heavens above, sunglasses shining over her eyes and a smile across her face as she greets the open landscape before her with interest.
"A lovely day, I must admit."
Though her opinion may be somewhat subjective. When alive, she lived under conditions not much unlike this. Certain others are not so fortunate.

And for Kiran it goes even deeper than that. Both his mentor, the person who saved him and gave him his powers, and the enemies he was recruited to fight, took the form of birds. He wants to believe that someone he knows was brought here with him, even if it were any of the people actively trying to kill him. He's desperate for even a scrap of a clue for how he really got here and how to really get home.
Chasing the sound for a while lead him to start to suspect the black-clad woman had something to do with it. He's never seen her before, leading him to believe she has nothing to do with his home world. But the urge to make some kind of useful discovery pushes him to keep considering her anyway, and so here he is, having followed her out of the city, keeping his distance to try not to be detected... only to see that she's stopped quite a far ways out, and is now doing... apparently nothing.
Having mustered the resolved to approach her finally, Kiran expected that she would finally notice he was there, if she hadn't already. He hadn't been expecting her to just start talking to him though, as if nothing was out of the ordinary.
"--Huh?" he mutters in response, taking a step back and squinting in the harsh sunlight. Guess she isn't interested in hellos, then.
"Uh... I wouldn't call it lovely. It's more of a Satan's asshole kind of day, if you ask me."

Drake Holloway | closed to close CR
There's a pole in the back room of the shop. Weight-bearing, stable. Drake's sitting on the floor in front of it, hands bound behind, and his entire torso secured to it with duct tape. It's not comfortable, but it's fairly secure. His legs are tied together, stretched out in front of him, so he can't kick out at whoever might come to tend to him, either. He doesn't think he'll be able to break free. But just in case he totally loses it and manages to, someone will be watching. Ready to shoot him in the head.
He's lucid for now, head tilted back leaning on the pole, a weak smile on his face. Gotta keep his spirits up. Who knows, maybe the gods will come through before it's too late for him.
"Should we play a game?"

Breathe. Focus.
He clears his throat. Grins for Drake. Because it's not over yet, it's not. Thinking like that doesn't help.
"Sure. Not poker. Something I have a chance of winning."

Stan Uris | OTA
[ It's not that Stan's particularly curious that has him exploring. Mostly, he's hungry and he's bored and he doesn't know what to do. He still doesn't understand this place very much or at all. He isn't totally sure that he hasn't been driven crazy and that this is all some elaborate delusion.
There's no place in particular that keeps his attention so you'll find him wandering from site to site, perhaps sometimes staring a bit disgruntled and in disbelief at the destruction -- not that he knew what it looked like before. He's hesitant to talk to anyone that he hasn't already met but at least he won't run in the other direction if you try.
He probably shouldn't be wandering around when there's monsters now and then but he's been lucky so far. ]
[ No one had told Stan about the side effects of the water -- maybe no one knew. When it happened, Stan didn't realize it was because of the water. He was filled with warmth and a fuzziness in his stomach that he's not used to. He's not particularly affectionate by nature but now he's ready to give someone a hug or tell them that they mean to he world to him...
Whether he knows them or not. ]
[ Feel free to throw something random at me or hit me up at
exploring!
Stan sticks out, mostly because he's a kid and there aren't many kids here, and on top of that, she doesn't recognize him. So, of course, she approaches, not at all considering whether or not he might be jumpy.]

Washington | OTA
Wash awoke to the first clue the city had been moved -- blazing sunlight coming in through his bedroom windows. It's hot in a way the 'daylight' in the caves never had been, and though he's still injured from the battle he gets up and dons his armor to go out. Even if there's nothing dangerous outside, it'll protect him from the heat. And at first things do seem peaceful. He's able to scout most of the city -- discovering that most everything is in the same place and condition it was back in the cave -- before encountering the first of the monsters.
Without the tunnels to contain them, they seem to be venturing into the city. All sorts of creatures, many of which he's never seen before despite his extensive forays into the tunnels to kill for Rage's altar. He's not in peak condition and nearly out of ammo, but can't just let them wander towards the civilians. So Wash fights, leaving most of the bodies where they fall since he doubts Rage's offer of ammo is in effect right now. Until he manages to slit the throat of a monster that seems like it might actually have meat on it. The shops had been barren... people will need to eat.
Maybe you need rescuing? Or can just offer advice on how to butcher the beast he's dragging behind him?
ii. Love
Even with the climate control his suit provides, all that fighting makes him pretty thirsty. Luckily for him, the pool he chooses to drink from is outside Love's temple. He drops the monster corpse a few steps away and removes his helmet, leaning down to drink. The effect is instant, though since no one is around at the moment Wash doesn't notice anything amiss. He just puts his helmet back on and continues hauling the monster back into the city. Maybe you'll be the first one to encounter him?
ii obviously
And then she spots Wash, covered in blood and dragging some sort of monstrosity behind him. Okay. Sure.
"Hey. Uh... What the hell is that?"

kravitz | open + closed to cr
[Many of the downsides to this move, the things that have affected most residents of Hadriel- the heat, the lack of food, the, uh, tainted water- mean nothing to Kravitz. He won't say the two suns makes for an especially pleasant atmosphere, but it's not going to kill him.
Knowing that, Kravitz volunteers himself to help gather food and water for those he cares about. Of course, because it's Kravitz, in this case 'volunteer' means step through a portal and awkwardly place supplies in front of someone without any prior notice or warning.]
Uh, here you are. I'm fairly certain it's all edible. It's somewhat difficult to tell.
[Of course, who knows where the water has come from.]

[Although he has his priorities, Kravitz isn't heartless. If it seems as though someone is particularly struggling in the heat, he may wordlessly offer them some of the water he's collected, praying they don't make a big deal out of it.]

Fingon | Open
After a few days dealing with the fire pit, Fingon's anxiety to look around finally gets the better of him. He leaves town armed, in the hope of finding animals or monsters, but even the chance to wander is good enough after so much time in the caves.
It's not beautiful, this land they've found themselves in, not outside the luminous surroundings of the pools. But there's an arid sternness to the area that he can respect, if not love.
He'll be found roaming around, fighting monsters if he's lucky. Anyone who wants to join in is welcome.
The pools
The fish in the pools are one of their most reliable food supplies at the moment, and Fingon often shows up at the pools to catch more for the fire pit. He takes from as many pools as he can, just in case they overwhelm the supply of any one in particular.
Usually he's fine without going for a drink for a while, but sometimes the sun does get to him. So if you see him around any particular pool, there's always the chance he's not quite normal....
Night
This world's brief night comes on suddenly, the chill a shock in comparison to the heat of the day. But really, it isn't so bad when taken on it's own; Fingon has seen far worse.
And there's something he wants to see in those dark, fleeting hours, something worth facing far more than the cold for. So in the night Fingon goes out and wanders the city, looking up at the stars- different in pattern and different in song, but familiar in their cold, high beauty all the same.
The pools -- you decide which god's pool. XD
And so here he is, casting a hooked and baited line into one of the pools. He stands on the stone curb that used to be one of the broad steps of the temple, but which now drops off abruptly into the water. He stares into the vivid depths and looks for his thoughts as well as for edible fish who are too dumb not to take the bait.
He looks up when he hears a step. "Findekáno! How goes it?"

Curufin | OTA
Curufin is at the workshop that he and Celebrimbor share. This is actually a collection of sheds, each with its own purpose -- the forge, the sheet metal shop, the machine shop, the carpentry shop, and a storage shed. The forge shack has a blast furnace for melting down scrap metal.
He is expecting people to visit during his work hours, anybody who has come to get the tools he and Cel are loaning out, or to make a request for their help elsewhere, or to join them in the work here, or just to say hello.
There is a heap of Null bodies in a corner -- so many of them that they take up a considerable part of the room. And there are many more of them outside in the wagon he uses to collect them. First he takes them apart at a workbench and then throws the usable parts into the furnace, melts them down, and pours the molten metal into molds, depending on the item to be cast. Right now, he's working on making more digging tools for those who will dig the irrigation ditches for the Orchard.
The heat of the furnace casts a ruby glow on his face, which is faintly beaded with sweat.
Sinking a well
Curufin and others are working on this project. More than one well is going to be needed, too. This is only one of the first. Curufn is just climbing up the ladder from the cylindrical well-shaft with its rocky sides. The sound of flowing water can be heard faintly if you stick your head over the edge. The shaft is one hundred feet deep. It has been dug with primitive methods -- the ones any civilization uses before it develops machines. Pick, shovel, sledgehammer, hand-cranked drill. There is a wooden scaffolding built over the top of the shaft. A cable is unreeled with a crankshaft so that baskets and buckets can be lowered into the shaft and the diggers can fill it with rocks and dirt as they dig it out of the well, and it can be drawn up out of the shaft and discarded in a heap.
Curufin climbs out of the shaft with his pick and shovel, sweat shining on his face, a kerchief tied around his head for a sweatband. He's in his oldest, grubbiest clothes, the ones he uses while working in the forge. He's been digging for eight hours.
"Anybody else want to take over for a while?" Grin. His teeth flash white in his grimy face.
Tranquility's temple
Taking a break from all the work, Curufin sits on the steps of the temple with his hands resting on his knees, contemplating the water, thinking of life in this new world. Tranquility's color is bright white, and the pool around the temple glows with a snowy shimmer while the primary sun is in the sky. When the ruby red secondary sun joins it, the water is tinged with pink. The overhang of the temple's portico shades the visitor from the suns' heat.
And no, he hasn't drunk the water. The tranquil expression on his face comes naturally from within. He has many worries, but at the moment, the hard physical labor and the easy access to light are putting him in a good mood. Or at least a quiet one.
Tranquility's Temple
Yukari is sporting a light and loose tank top, of which some of the corners of his new mar can be seen, his usual pants, and pair of shoes that are flat instead of his heeled boots, because he has to take care of that muscle injury, too. He's left Ayamachi back at home, but he hasn't left himself defenseless by any means. Behind his hip, he's strapped a dagger from the Armoury as a half conceal and easy access to make a sudden defensive maneuver, especially if his Auras aren't enough.
But, he sees Curufin staring at the pool of water surrounding Tranquility's Temple, looking rather pensive.
And Yukari has to remind himself to take a breath. He's been stuck in the clinic while Curufin had to fight the rest of the war. And the last in-depth conversation they had was about what Yukari wanted.
Perhaps Yukari himself has been quieter than he should have allowed himself to be.
So, he walks up to Curufin, and offers a bit of a smile, as best as one can in this heat. The shade would do him some good, anyway.
"Mind if I sit next to you? I should probably take a rest anyhow."

Oscar | OTA | Will Match Format
Fire Pit (12/16; Night)
Oscar looks up at the sky.
His journey has seen him arrive in the strangest of places. This new location might be the strangest of all of them.
But he can say with absolute certainty that it isn't the coldest.
He would never wish for her to be here. Even more so than the many dangers, inherent and obvious, that he must face each day, it is one of the things he fears the most about his predicament; the mere possibility that one day, 'the Door' might open and there her name will appear, on the network for everyone to see. He takes comfort in the fact this has not happened.
Oscar thinks of her now because he has just returned from his dwelling, having given this body its first proper examination since before the Null arrived to execute their frightful plan of attack. It is ultimately thanks to her, in addition to his creator, that he was able to achieve everything he did during the invasion.
He stops by the makeshift kitchen on his way to the Guard and Clinic construction sites, curious to inspect its progress. It speaks for his body's current condition that his decision to sit in a chair for a moment is one that is settled without much thought; he would normally prefer to stay on his feet.
He peers into the fire. There is still time before their work for the day begins. One of the two suns should start to light up the horizon within the hour.

She looks..."fresh", for all that that entails, and the way she's looking absentmindedly into the fire has all to do with it.
But then she finally notices, doing a semi-startled double-take at the stranger. It's not the way he looks, it's just that someone's there.
She looks back at the fire, hoping that didn't look at stupid as it felt.
