Event Log: The Beach Episode
Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.
The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.
And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...► This log covers May 27th-June 10th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!

Lance | North Island | OTA
[Well, Lance is not super happy to be on an island. It isn't exactly that he has something against islands, but more that he has the distinct feeling this is going to be both terribly inconvenient and terribly dangerous. How are they going to get from place to place? What if there's an emergency somewhere? What are they going to do when new arrivals show up, both in regards to the monsters and in regards to getting the newbies supplies and places to live?
It could be a lot worse, he supposes; it's not freezing or super hot, there are no jungle vines blocking the streets, and the city--or the island he's on, anyway--seems to still be functional. But 'it could be worse' is still not that much of a comfort, and he's just not impressed that they all ended up here instead of somewhere more useful.
But complaining won't solve anything, and so Lance is out exploring instead. As it is he's found one of the cliffs and has wandered cautiously out onto it; the sight is kind of amazing, as so annoyed as he is about the situation it's also really pretty cool. And a little scary, but the fall isn't that far, so as much as he absolutely doesn't want to fall in it isn't frightening enough to not appreciate the view.
If anyone's passing by, they'll probably hear him comment--]
At least it's not the desert this time.
[The Park | 28th or 29th | OTA]
[Okay, maybe this place isn't so bad after all. He's still a little annoyed by the practical issues, as well as losing the potential to have discovered something useful about the Null on the ice planet, but the rest of his irritation is fading a bit.
That's mostly because he's wandered to the park while it's raining, and there's just something serenely peaceful about standing under a tree and watching the rain filter through the leaves. He doesn't even care that he's pretty drenched at this point, because after the last storm back when they were underground he'd never really thought he'd get to see rain again.
But although he's enjoying it he knows not everyone else might be, and if he sees someone looking soaked and unhappy he'll take a moment to ask--]
Are you doing okay?
Park! Because his garden is there, so why not.
[Carlisle manages to bite his tongue before continuing, knowing that he should curb his temper, especially when speaking to someone who has been nothing but understanding with him; however, he's cold and soaked, and therefore finds it a lot harder to be as respectful as he ought to be, even to someone as painfully polite as Lance. He pushes his hair from his face, the moisture weighing it do, lose bangs hanging in front of his eyes -- they glow so vibrantly in the darkness beneath the clouds.
He pulls in a breath through his nose, pushing it out in a long exhale.]
My apologies, doctor. To answer your question, no, I am not 'doing okay.' You stumble upon me in a bedraggled state, but my bloodworts need tending to, particularly now that we have been removed from the blistering heat of that awful world we were previously trapped in.
[He didn't like the sudden change in scenery, but he has to admit that he liked the double suns even less.]
yes good
It's okay, we're both pretty bedraggled, so I won't judge if you don't.
[Lance's own hair probably looks utterly ridiculous, considering it's gotten a little long and is naturally curly, and so actually even longer than it normally seems. With it all soaked it's kind of everywhere.
He wants to ask Carlisle more about how he's doing, especially since he's been meaning to for awhile now, but recognizes this may not be the best time. So, instead--]
Is there anything I can do to help with your plants?
no subject
There is something you could do, actually. If you don't mind.
[He motions for Lance to join him beside what is presumably a bloodwort: the shrub stands about chest-high, the vines weighed down by both the red, bulbous fruits they bear and the rain gathering on the leaves. Carlisle kneels beside the base of the plant, pulling his hands from his gloves and pushing his sleeves past his wrists.]
See how the roots are coming up? We need to rebury them, then cover them with some of the rocks I have in that satchel I was carrying.
[He gestures to his bag, which sits over by one of the trees.]
This dirt has gotten so displaced from this move. I'd hate to lose one of these. Plant from back home and whatnot.

shoreline!
When she finds Lance, she wanders over, looping her arm through his like it's second nature. Somehow she's not surprised he's taking a minute to appreciate the view.]
Okay, so... I still think the ice world would have sucked, but my vote wasn't great either.
no subject
I'll forgive you. This isn't so bad anyway; all the options kind of sucked, so let's just blame the gods for only giving us bad choices.
[He's quiet a moment before continuing.]
It's kind of cool, even if it's also really inconvenient.

[She grins at him, tugging back.]
Want to go swimming?

shoreline;
He's sitting quite close to the edge of the cliff, cross-legged with his headdress by his side, the wind off the ocean tugging through lightly curled dark hair rather than the red feathers of the headpiece he usually wears.
Lance's presence doesn't go unnoticed, but Nil's content enough to let him pass by without comment until he hears what he says, the words nearly snatched away by the breeze.]
Mm... it certainly isn't.

Did you arrive recently? I don't think we've met.
no subject
Some time ago. [He drawls out softly. It's been six months, but hard to keep count.] Feels like two seasons, but the sun made it difficult to track.
[Glancing over his shoulder, he fixes sharp grey eyes on the man.]
I think I prefer this. Don't you? Desert heat gets so wearing after a while.

The Park 29th
Yes, I am. And yourself?
no subject
[The rain is nice and he isn't cold yet; this is much more like weather he's used to than the desert was, so he's enjoying it.]
I'm a little surprised by how many people are out in the rain, though.
no subject
Maybe they're all celebrating? It's encouraging when things change, even if the change is a little inconvenient. You're out here yourself. Do you like the rain?
shoreline;
Other than that, Damien is just adapting like he always does. The only constant in his life back home - before all of this - was chaos and unpredictability. He tends to also try finding the positive where he can, or at least laughing about any given situation, no matter how absurd. ]
Fucking right about that. Had enough of deserts to last a lifetime.
The view ain't bad, either. Water looks nice, too. Just the kind you'd wanna swim in, but how much you wanna bet they got the equivalent of the Loch Ness monster down there?
no subject
[He glances over at Damien as he responds; Lance doesn't think they've met before.]
Did you arrive recently?
sorry for the delay, rl issues came up
And yeah, been here uh...close to two months, I guess. Gonna pass my 90 day probation period soon, can't wait for all the perks to kick in.
[ He thinks he's funny. ]
the Park, 29th
it's cold, it's raining, and her gown is soaked through. she's had far better days, but as she doesn't know him that well, it's not like she's going to tell him that]
I'm quite all right, Dr. Sweets. How are you?
no subject
So it's nice to have a chance to talk to her more directly, and he offers her a faint smile.]
I'm doing well. Noticing I need a haircut.
[He adds the last comment as a joke, hoping to keep the tone light for now; his soaked hair is laying straight instead of curly and it's more obvious how long it's gotten.]
Do you live on this island, or did you get stuck here during the move? Your shop's here, right?
no subject
she smiles back brilliantly]
I'm glad to hear it. [she eyes his hair. it's not long by Westerosi standards] Is there a problem with it? Perhaps I could help.
My Shop is here, yes. I'd gotten an early start on my morning and was trapped here by the move.

shoreline
Probably a good thing, anyway.
She's taken to walking the shore, or at least as much as she can, looking for any answers that might be helpful, although ways across seem to be lacking. Times like this she misses having a ship of any sort, something that could just get her across the water. If she were desperate, she might try swimming, but even Carolina knows that's not a good idea. It's not like she chose to be here, but she doesn't need any more reasons for anyone to worry about her.
There is a soft snort at his words, catching them as she's passing by. While not exactly the most social of creatures, she's not a curmudgeon either.]
True, but a tropical island might have been nice.
[Unless there were dinosaurs...]
sorry for the wait on this! rl was a whole thing
[He says it with some humor, clearly not that serious, although his trip to Florida really had sucked.]
Do you like the warmer climates better?
[Because tropics or desert, really the heat's the main issue for him.]

Shoreline!
Right? Check out the view. Just watch your footing.
[She says, standing closer to the drop-off than a lot of people would be comfortable with.]
no subject
[About watching her footing; she's much closer to the edge, after all. But the camcorder catching his attention more than that, considering he's pretty sure Elena knows what she's doing as far as keeping her balance.]
Where did you find the video camera?
(no subject)
The Park - 29th
I've been better.
[It's that talented musician from the network that Lance listened to a while back. He looks human enough in person, ridiculously handsome, as all Sunai are warranted to be, with only a small scar that runs through his left eyebrow to mar his appearance. There's a line of small black crosses that go up his left arm, encircling from wrist to just below his elbow. They look like tattoos.]
no subject
It isn't exactly dry under here but it's better than nothing.
