Intro Log: Don't Wake Tonberry

What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Cute monsters, a way to pass the time, and plenty of newbies!

Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!

But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.

Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Where I was before it rained a lot, and it was also very warm, so there were a lot of plants and some of them got really large.

...It's no more dangerous here than it was there, but the dangerous things here are stranger. You shouldn't go into the caves unless you want to hunt monsters.

[He can understand that. Unless the rain stays away for too long or it doesn't rain for days after you sowed, it's not the most pleasant thing to have.] Snow is worse, though. [Snow is inherently cold.]

I was in a jungle because we got shipwrecked, but nobody that I was with knew the place. But I'm from the east of Europe on Earth originally.

Yeah, I don't like snow much, either.

[It's still wet.]

Oh. Um. [child, do you know you're a child? don't get shipwrecked, child.] I've been to Europe. It's nice? The part I've seen, anyway.

[He didn't try to get shipwrecked. It just happened.]

It is very nice, but there are warmer places than where I'm from.

Which part have you been to?

[...He says that and he knows very little of most of Europe, really. But maybe he's heard of the place before.]

Mmn. I don't really notice. I'm always pretty cold.

I've heard of England.

[He's not going to comment on what he heard, not only because that information is old even in his own world, but also because it's very hearsay or not very pride inducing. Essentially just "Denmark had fun bullying him", because Denmark told him that. And then some fifth-hand stories.]

But that is not where you are from originally, yes?

No. I'm not from the same world as Earth. I come from a land called Oz.

That's a very short name for a land.

[Even Kiev is longer - well, at least the part of her name that he uses to refer to her.]

Uh. I guess so.

Is it always connected to Earth?

[It's good to take stock of possible future friends, after all.]

Yes and no. All of our visitors from other worlds have come from Earth, but I think it would be possible to connect it to other worlds. It isn't right now. Maybe someday.

[Agha would approve it, probably, but that was something they would most likely leave for Ozma to decide, and... Well, she was still sleeping. It's hard to say how she would react to something like that.]

Under normal circumstances, it's only the Dorothy that can open a portal to Oz. It's a little hard to explain...

How does one find the Dorothy? [The way this guy talked about it it seems to be a title, so that's what he'll be working with here.]

Ozites have gotten pretty bad at it. Our last Dorothy wasn't one. But I like Emma a lot better.

[Urgh, the scar where his heart should be hurts at that.]

They'll be named Dorothy and might have a small animal, I guess. Like a dog. They're usually just a bit older than you are, I think. I haven't seen one in a while, but not a lot of people these days are naming their daughters Dorothy.

[...Okay he lost you a bit. That all sounds a bit silly in his opinion (because he doesn't understand it, it has to be silly).]

Who is Emma? And why was she a Dorothy? [Maybe Dorothies aren't necessary then to reach this other nation and befriend them?]

[I mean, he's not wrong. It's pretty silly.]

Emma... Emma is my friend. [Absently, he brushes a finger against the smaller burn on his lip.] She wasn't really a Dorothy, she could just...do things the Dorothies could do. And a lot more than that, too. Because she's amazing.
