Intro Log: HOLY F*^K THAT'S A F*&KI%G DRAGON

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for October
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: October 10th-13th
Warnings: New faces, new greeting posts, and dragons. What's more to want?

If your first thought upon waking up on the cold, hard ground of Hadriel's very own Colosseum is 'maybe I partied too hard last night', one, Delight would love you and two, you're wrong. Or- maybe you did, but that's not why you're here. Instead, you wake up with the same clothes you were wearing when you were last home, but surrounded by very different people. So, make some friends! Might as well voice your confusion and concern and show the technologically unsavvy of you how to operate these fancy new phones, right? Just be sure not to trip over these odd bags of chips on your way to greet your fellow man.

Don't spend too much time out in the open, though. There are monsters about, and not quite the usual ones. This month, Hadriel is bringing in four dragons, each with their own unique abilities and raidboss-esque stamina. They'll be terrorizing the city until someone puts them down- maybe that someone is you! Maybe you should, uh, actually hide. They're hungry and territorial and mean and they're definitely out for a good meal. Check out our OOC post for more information, as well as who will be eventually killing the beasts!

But hey, once you escape from the dragons, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.

[Oh blessed silence. At least he can take orders. That puts him a cut above the rest of the newcomers in Maketh's mind. But, for better or worse, they reach the guardpost without further incident. Once inside, he's sure to badger her with questions. That's his right. She'll have to be courteous about it, Maketh supposes.

She racks her gun and then turns to face him, standing at loose attention.]

Well? Speak.

[dang go team! you didn't die on your first outing!]

I read the newbie post or whatever you want to call it. It was surprisingly thorough, and surprisingly did not mention dragons.

Is this a new thing? Like, hey, lucky me, I won the giant monster lottery?

[Be patient, Maketh reminds herself. Don't snap at the newcomers, it's not professional.]

The dragons are...unexpected. The previous threats have been smaller.

[She frowns.]

Your world has them? How are they dealt with?

Only in fiction. We don't have any of this weird shit back home.

[Well, that's not helpful at all. Maketh huffs.]

I see. Well, they are here now. The guardsmen will deal with them as we must.

[Obviously. She rocks back on her heels.]

Guardsmen? About fifteen. There are more people here, though. Your phone will have a complete list.

[Maketh just frowns at him. She's not interesting in getting comfortable, regardless of how long they're stuck here.]

I see. There is a library here, though I cannot say if it will hold any information of use to your studies. Nor will you find many things that respect any laws but that of brute force.

So what you're saying is, basically, pong is going to be my greatest asset.

I would hope not. [Maketh eyes him up and down.] Very little in this place will hesitate to kill you. But there are a few here around...your own age.

That may be a comfort to you. I would not know.

That depends. Are they cute?

[this is truly a very special definition of the word "comfort." but truly its this or start panicking again and this is the life connor chooses to lead]

[Maketh chooses to believe that's the stress making him say foolish things. Otherwise she may be on the verge of another headache. By the stars, please let it be the stress.]

What, is celibacy some kind of prerequisite to joining the guard team?

Maketh feels her eye twitching and puts her hand over it.]

I'm sure there's someone out there for you.

[what was that she just said? about not discussing? hm]

[Is this a thing children do? Oh, Maketh knows he's not technically a child, but Connor still feels insanely young to her. She wonders if she was ever that much trouble to her instructors.]

That is hardly your concern.

[There's a low tone in her voice, warning him not to go further.]

[connor puts his hands up in an "i surrender" gesture]

Okay, I got it.

[She narrows her eyes, watching him a moment.

Good. He understands the rules.]

If you have less foolish questions, ask them now.

[he is actually capable of asking good questions, luckily. working for annalise made them a necessity.]

The guide said that people had spoken with the gods - they didn't get any meaningful answers from them?

[Maketh nods just once. So he's quick. Despite the shock of arrival and whatever foolishness he felt like engaging with, Connor knows enough to zero in on the important information. Interesting.

Perhaps he'll be of use after all.]
