Intro Log: I'll Cry If I Want To

What: The intro log for December
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.

Warnings: Angry crying ladies and a bunch of newbies

Good morning, new Hadrielites! What a joy it is to awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, with absolutely no idea where you are or what's going on. As you wake up, confused and possibly a little terrified, you may be angry. You may be frightened. You may be hungry, if you didn't eat a good lunch. You may want to cry.

And it looks like you're not the only one who wants to cry. Along with the newcomers, a number of Witches have come to Hadriel. They stand in one place or wander, crying bitterly, as if their boyfriend has broken up with them or they've lost their puppy. Maybe you're a good person who wants to see if they're okay? Well, you might want to rethink that. Disturb a Witch - which is pretty easy to do - and they'll fly into a rage, attacking you with their sharp claws and tearing your guts out. Good luck trying to get out of the colosseum without running into one!

Don't worry, though. Scattered around is also some stuff that's a little more fun! The Door's theme this month seems to be 'stuff stressed-out executives would put on their desks', and since we've got so many of those, surely you can find a toy or two to play with!

If you've managed to avoid getting clawed to bits and maybe found a cool new distraction or two, congrats! That's the first step to becoming a productive member of Hadriel society! Now, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

So what's your home like?

Depends what you mean by home.

[Those details about different realities didn't escape her.]

I was living in New York until fairly recently.

[iustitiae]

I was in Philly. But, hey, brightside - there's a bunch of former New Yorkers here too.

[outstandingbalance]

Oh, I can't call myself a New Yorker. That's a whole other breed. I just live there.

But I liked it.

[iustitiae]

[connor laughs. he knows. he knows.]

My roomie is one of them. There's like...superheroes there, though. Parallel universe New York with comic book heroes.

[Oh, well. That's... something isn't it. Natasha's a bright girl. She can put that together, at least generally speaking.]

What, you mean like Iron Man, Captain America?

[iustitiae]

Yes, exactly! As in literally, he knows of Iron Man. Crazy, right?

[outstandingbalance]

Absolutely wild.

[She can't keep the wryness out of her tone.

There's a pause, before she throws him a line; this will only be more awkward if she lets it go on too long.]

Believe me, knowing Tony in person is worse.

Huh.

[incredible.]

You're on a first name basis with Iron Man.

Until he tells me otherwise.

[She sounds serious.]

[he laughs]

Well, that's cool.

[outstandingbalance]

It's not boring, at least.

[What it is is a little hard to say.]

Sounds like people flying around in weaponized armor isn't so much a thing where you're from.

Definitely not. There's not a lot of excitement where I'm from.

[outstandingbalance]

There's excitement everywhere. Maybe different kinds, but there's always excitement.

[iustitiae]

Not the kind of excitement you hear about from people here.

What, no wars and politics, new weapons?

[iustitiae]

No dragons, no superheroes. No crazy gods.

[outstandingbalance]

Most people where I'm from would have said the same, not that long ago.

[iustitiae]

That's what Matt said.

[actually on that note]

You should meet him. Plus, he's totally hot. Like absolutely a 10.

[She chuckles at that.]

Well, I will keep that in mind when I get around to looking for a ten.

[Though if he knows about the Avengers, it's safe to assume he knows about her too at this point.]

We could compare notes.

[Natasha laughs slightly at that. It wasn't exactly how she meant that—or specifically. But she can't blame him for reading her that way, and she doesn't correct him.]
