Event Log: Kissmas

Thanks to Conner's meddling, Delight has decided that it's high time for another of her events- and this one has a bit of a romantic twist, so at least it's, uh, sort of holiday appropriate!

On the morning of the fourteenth, everyone will wake up to a fresh pile of snow on the ground. Unlike Fear's event a year and change ago, this snow is powdery and light and festive- though still definitely a bit cold! To help counterbalance this, there are also plenty of ugly sweaters stocked in various buildings to keep you warm.

In addition, some various sprigs of mistletoe will start appearing over random thresholds. These won't be limited to public places, however- you may find a few of them in your own home! Any two people (at some discretion of course) who find themselves underneath it will experience a strong desire to kiss one another- be it a platonic peck on the lips or something a bit more intimate. The compulsions can be resisted and laughed off of course, but that's no fun at all!

But the fun can't last forever! Extended Kissmas ends on the twentieth, and while the snow and mistletoe will disappear, our memories and ugly sweaters will linger on forever!

[So this is probably something everybody needs after the double's event. Some down time, warm ugly sweaters and snow. Or making out with people, but they're not going to judge you for it.

Chara's own sweater isn't warm enough so they grab something that's an obnoxious yellow from a store before setting off to see what the Gods have in store for them this time. They do know what mistletoe is but not the compulsions, naturally. Still Chara is going to avoid those just in case. The last thing they need right now is something weird happening to them.

They can be found pretty much everywhere checking things out to make sure this isn't going to end poorly for everyone involved. Once Chara does figure out things will remain peaceful - at least for now - they'll lighten up.

Which means they'll have some fun instead.

So by any old random store, there's a pile of snow. It may look like a little fort but put that out of your mind. There's nothing wrong with it at all. Walk on by, it's fine!

Just don't mind the snowball being whipped at the back of your head if you turn around long enough.]

Turing | Open

So Christmas is Turing's favorite Holiday. Admittedly, it's not actually Christmas, but there is mistletoe! And ugly sweaters. So many ugly sweaters. As a lover of fashion, Turing didn't hesitate to find one that they liked and sort of fit them, a very pink thing that was long enough on them to reach their knees.

They're incapable of kissing, but they love hugs, and being that this is apparently some sort of mashup of Valentines day and Christmas it's definitely in the spirit of the season to go around hugging people, which is a thing that they might have done even without the mistletoe compelling them to.

So wherever you are, whatever you doing, a robot is now hugging you, possibly quite awkwardly. Alternately, you could hug them. They are pretty adorable, after all.

This is a very new, very strange situation. Sharon's arms are up, held awkwardly away from the robot currently wrapped around her in a hug. She's really not sure what to do but, in an effort not to hurt this thing's feelings, she pats at Turing's back.

"Uh, hi?" This is sure one way to meet new people.

▍▍▍▍I. FEB 15TH | STORES | SMOOCHIES OTA

[ The last time it snowed it was not nearly as festive, with beasts accompanying the blanketed city, and though it was some time past, Sharon lets caution guide her. She watches, she waits, and when nothing climbs out of the snow or pounds at her door, only then does she venture out into the bright winter wonderland, armed and ready for anything.

Too bad 'armed and ready for anything' doesn't really mean 'ready for anything'.

She's not quite prepared for the absolute cheerfulness of the city. When she enters one of the stores, she pulls a sprig of mistletoe down from the doorway as she does so, mildly confused. ]

Is it fucking Christmas? [ She doesn't know about the compulsions, yet, but boy howdy does she want to plant her lips on someone for no good damn reason. ]

▍▍▍▍I. FEB 16-20TH | EVERYWHERE | SMOOCHIES STILL OTA

[ This. is. bullshit.

Mistletoe was such a stupid tradition and, with the awareness that every door she goes under could actually have a piece of stupid fucking mistletoe, when she spots that sprig of green, she immediately sets it on fire.

Please don't be alarmed, it's for the greater good.

Or maybe she misses a piece and, surprise! Don't worry, she'll immediately seek out that magical compulsion plant and murder it with fire after. Don't worry, it's just how she copes. ]

▍▍▍▍I. FEB 19-20TH | DELIGHT'S BAR | OTA

[ The event is winding down and Sharon can't help the way she throws back her shots at the bar, all wound up like a toy soldier waiting to be let loose. She'd much rather be dealing with the monsters and darkness of Fear's event long past, but, no, they got fucking magic mistletoe, snow, and stupid fucking sweaters.

At least there's a bar she can go to after all is said and done. Also, did you know whiskey helps you forget that you kissed both friends and strangers alike? Should someone approach the bar, she'll offer one of the many shots she's got lined up with a hand gesture. Hey, it's not often she offers to drink with someone. ]

[it seems like the perfect time to follow cashmere's suggestion about finding a sweater for the nug. he just needs to keep looking and he's sure to find one small enough. so what if it's ugly? the little creature doesn't have a whole lot of room to complain there.

jack stops at the sound of sharon's voice. he hasn't seen or spoken to her since - well, since his double did all the talking for him. but it's time, and he won't run now. he doesn't even want to run.]

[he puts a sweater down and steps closer to her. maybe the mistletoe can be blamed for the urge to kiss her, but the urge to hug her is all him.]

Jill did not expect to wake up and find it snowing outside her window this morning. The weather sure was peculiar today. There was no sign of approaching cold yesterday... not to mention this place doesn't even have the atmosphere for snow to appear, but given that it's run by gods, she's grown used to just about anything happening.

Well, snow or no snow, she was going to go through her daily motions as if it were any other day, which included a city patrol. Jill is a dedicated member of the city guard, and if strange things are happening, there could also be danger of some kind people might need protecting from!

It was pretty cold out. Good thing she came across a pile of ugly sweaters. She grabbed one, pulled it on over her uniform and kept on going. By the afternoon, the snow was coming down a bit more, so she took shelter under a dilapidated awning and waited awhile with her arms hugging herself to warm up a bit. If someone else happened along, he or she could share the spot with her. Jill just didn't notice that there was a sneaky sprig of mistletoe hanging above her head.

Will had also found a pile of rather ugly sweaters, though, instead of wearing one of them, he was currently chasing Winston down the road who had one between his maw. The cheeky little dog thought it was a game and so the more Will called and chased after him, the further on ahead Winston ran.

Spotting a familiar face, Winston padded his way through the snow and right up to Jill. The clothing still held in his mouth, he wagged his tail happily, jumping up to paw at her leg. Will wasn't far behind his pet, stopping and doubling over, hands on thighs as he huffed and puffed, trying to catch his breath.

"Is he bothering you?" He quipped in cheerfully. It was something about the snow, just made Will feel more at home.

[The snow was a delight even as it grew colder.

She had found more practical clothes though they felt strange to her. She can be found wearing one the ugly sweaters along with plain skirts and boots as she explored the city and enjoyed the snow. She wondered what Louis would think if he saw her now but he wasn't here so the thought was gone as soon as it had come.

The mistletoe was a delight and she took it as a sign of good luck. She remembered receiving mistletoe and finding it in her room when she was a Spanish princess since mistletoe was considered a sign of good fortune. She retrieved at least one sprig of mistletoe as she explored around to be handed to someone who could use some good fortune.]

[The snow is a surprise, though thankfully not the kind that comes with monsters. Maketh supposes she can accept that for now.

[Jo was not around when Fear brought snow to the Cave, so she doesn't hesitate to tromp through the snow. At least she arrived with a jacket on. She wasn't freezing, but when she finds a sweater she doesn't hesitate to add it to her outfit. It's warmer this way.

She doesn't notice the mistletoe at the first door she enters, but the second door it catches her eye and-]

Mistletoe? It's not Christmas, is it? Does this place even have Christmas?

Towards the end:

[She doesn't quite notice it, but she's smiling more easily and definitely more relaxed.

Anyone she comes across will get at least a friendly nod and a greeting. Seems like she's feeling more loving towards everyone in general.]

[Amos incautiously wanders up to stand beside her, tipping his head back to see the plant in question. He's moving with a limp, his right ankle still badly sprained, but he's mobile.]

1. Feb 14th, Surprise Kisses: Amos is not a fan of snow, in any shape, form, or fashion. Which means he's scrounged up a hideous knitted hat from somewhere (it's bright yellow, pink, and orange and remind him of Laffy Taffy), and an equally eye-swearing sweater that's bright purple with sky-blue stripes and a vivid orange unicorn on the front. It's too large but it's warm and you can spot him a mile away.p, probably.

He's currently standing under a doorway, squinting up at the plant hanging there. "Is that mistletoe?"

2. Feb 15th, Ambush Kisses: Guess who is overly affectionate and has been given what amounts to encouragement from the gods to spread the love his friends need.

Amos has been cheerfully luring his friends under mistletoe to have an excuse to hug them or drop a kiss on nose or cheek, delighted to have the excuse.

3. Feb 18th: Cookies: Amos has begged and bargained and questionably subsituted, and has a reasonable aporoximation of sugar cookies, a pan cooling on the counter, hot from the oven, as he rolls out the dough again. He's no cook but these are easy, and he might've found heart-shaped cookie cutters somewhere. (Also dinos and Elvis, for some reason.) there's a sign on his open front door of his ground floor apartment in Tower Three that reads "Free Cookies" and all his windows are open too. His old friends the jabberjays are flying in and out of the open windows to visit.

Amos also has a little bit of alcohol at his elbow and is sipping the drink as he cooks, humming a dance-tune with flour on the end of his nose.

Yeah, guess who's about as overjoyed with the weather as you, Amos? Hint: she's very, very pink and balled up in whatever jumper she managed to pick up at one of the shops. It's awful, but it's warm and she doesn't really care about the design at the end of the day - most of the things in Hadriel are the kind of awful you'd never actually wear if given the option, let's be honest here.

"... Looks like it." Her voice is flat, as ever, and her expression matches, standing just shy of the doorway with her arms folded. This place has to be kidding. Even if there's a small buzz in the air, the kind of pleasant feeling that Delight's bar settles into your bones, it's the wrong time of year, isn't it?

[Don't cry if you can't kiss Sans. Because why would you want to he doesn't even have lips. He does have, however, a pair of fantastic sweaters, one of which he's already yanked on just for the novelty of it. Really, it works out best if he can get someone else to wear the other one; the only thing better than ugly sweaters with horrible puns is matching sweaters with horrible puns. He hasn't exactly got the best conceptualization of what kinda Surface holiday this might be rooted in, but the bottom line? It don't matter much, in the end.

He's content to let the warm hum of affection take up residence in his SOUL. It's obvious that it ain't really him, but it's...it's nice. It's somethin' new.

Tough to put any kinda effort into anything, even now and here, the way he is. What he has got is a severe lack of understanding when it comes to expressing affection in any overt sorta way.

So he, uh...doesn't.

You might find something on your doorstep; a magic hot dog, or a handful of vaguely aesthetically appealing flowers or vines picked up from the orchard and bound with a ribbon. It's doubtful he'll hand 'em to you directly unless you ask but...hey. You're free to ask. You might get an awkward, fumbling side-hug outta the deal.

Aside from that, he spends much of the time snoozing contentedly anywhere he can - in the orchard, in the shops, on the occasional roof. Here and again you might spot a Fennec fox frisking about by his feet, or curled up in the hood of his jacket, slumbering away.]

Pell
The cave didn’t make it easy, but damned if he wasn’t going to give Pell what he’d asked for. He had another chance he hadn’t earned, and Cal fully intended to take full advantage of it before whoever it was who had given it to him figured it out. He’d take his half-hour in heaven until the Devil found him. And he’d give the bastard a run for his money, too.

There might not have been much he could do, but he was going to do it. If it was a courtship he wanted… And if Cal were being entirely honest, Pell deserved some happiness. He knew exactly how poorly he’d been sleeping, even if he didn’t want to talk about it. There was a reason he’d barely hesitated making that deal with Pell’s weird friend.

At least he knew where he was supposed to be this time of day. Hopefully he hadn’t wandered off.

He was always impressed that they even managed to keep a garden down here, but if anyone could do it it would have been Pell. And sure enough, there he was. Cal smiled to himself seeing him, glad that he wasn’t somewhere unsafe by himself this time. He steadfastly refused to think about the last two rescues, though, instead doing his best to sneak up on him and wrap his arms around Pell’s waist from behind—hopefully before he knew he was there.

“I hope you’re almost finished. I have a surprise for you.”


Flick
To be entirely honest, Cal had been avoiding Flick since their last meeting on the fake beach. That had taken some doing, but after the encounter it felt more like Flick had needed space from him for a while. He didn’t have to be a monster. And pushing him wasn’t going to help anything. Maybe nothing ever would. He wasn’t exactly in the business of healing. Who would believe it if he was?

Like hell he was going to stay inside, though. There was barely enough to do as it was. He spent a lot of time wandering, and the only thing different about today was the little plants hanging up everywhere. He felt like he should have remembered them—something about an old human tradition—but all he could come up with was some old feeling of deja-vu. Still, he had things to look for, even if he doubted his would find them in any of the shops.

And of course Flick would be there. Really, he should have known better. Still…maybe this was an opportunity. One that he’d been wasting for weeks. Or had that even been long enough. He watched quietly at first, but Flick had to know he was there and somehow Cal didn’t think he’d react well to being stalked—however accidentally. He only took a couple of steps closer, though, ending up stopped beneath one of those odd decorations (what were those supposed to be for again)?

“I think we should talk.”


Ulaume
They even managed to get some of those stupid plants in the house. Cal was glaring when he stepped inside and of course Ulaume was there. Maybe it had been hoping for too much that he’d be alone when he got back—there were four of them living there, after all. Still, did it have to be him? There were two other people he would have fine with.

Still…maybe there was something…he couldn’t say. He hated himself the moment he felt anything different from disdain, but how long could he truthfully have been expected to deny it? He scowled at the har, though it was more at himself than anything. Did they really have to make peace with each other? Probably. How willing either was to do so would be more the miracle.

“…it’s disgusting how attractive you are.” That was as close as he was going to get to a compliment. He didn’t need to hear what Cal was imagining. Doubtless, he could tell already. Was the place messing with him again? Or had he actually started to, dare he say, like him? It couldn’t have been that, could it?

“You know that, though, don’t you?”

The moment Flick heard footsteps and saw that impossibly bright mop of hair his breathing quickened and his heart felt like it was going to bound right out of his chest. Anxiously, he set aside what was in his hand. Whatever it was wasn't worth it. He was fully intending on bravely running away when Cal spoke. Dammit.

Flick looked up at him, a face full of uncertainty, fear, and something else. That would be lust. He chalked that up to Cal's natural state of being. It was demented, but one he smiled at you in that horrible way he did that made you feel like you were the only one that mattered, well you were a goner. And once you'd rooned him? That was it. Buy a coffin now.

He took a deep breath, fighting the urge to give in and just throw himself at the har right there in the store.

"Really? About what?" Was his voice shaking?

Hux | open

[It turned out that Hux hated the snow almost as much as he hated the sun. At least he had his great coat which gave him some warmth but he could feel himself starting to feel sick not long after the 14th.

Normally he would nip any illness in the bud with a few shots from his judgmental medical droid on Finalizer but it seemed this time he would have to tough it out. As the month progressed the worse he felt and the more he hated the snow.

He honestly just hated anything to do with nature.

So be careful if you run into him under the mistletoe because as the month progresses, his temper is shorter than usual and he looks just as miserable as he feels. He's also willing to spread the misery and make someone else feel awful if he can.

[By this point, Maketh has figured out what the gods have planned. Her opinions are mixed, but she's made a system to avoid mistletoe as much as possible. Awkward encounters are not her favorite thing. Especially not sober.

And especially not with Hux.

But she rounds a corner and nearly smacks right into him. She has time to note the redness in his face - even paler than usual - and then - to her horror - the mistletoe hanging merrily above them.]

[There's no hesitation. She headbutts him in the face before the magic can get any ideas in either of their heads.]

[mismanagement]

[Maketh doesn't know what to make of the mistletoe but given that this event doesn't appear to include monsters or threat of dismemberment, she's taking it in stride. Should you encounter her around the city, she'll be in good spirits and more or less recovered from the last event.

Reactions will vary if you try to kiss her. Be warned.]

[Truth be told, Regis isn't a fan of this Kissmas nonsense and never will be judging from how hideous these ugly sweaters are. The king vehemently refuses to wear one just because he has nothing to match these colorful monstrosities. Eager to keep up appearances and not look like some half-crazed derelict, Regis honestly does look quite posh in all black with hints of silver here and there. However, the nature of his clothing means very little in comparison to the festive cheer within the air.]

Is this some sort of...holiday? [He questions with an eyebrow raised once he sees the offending mistletoe. Regis eyes it for a long time in confusion before acknowledging the approach of another. It seems that even Maketh could be found wandering about in this gaudy festivities.] Even you seem to be enjoying yourself, I see.

[The king says with a slight smirk.]

14th, he's an ass, sorry !!!!

[And Kain is going to make sure Shadow knows it. Already, he's got a bunch of snow in hand, packing it carefully to make a nice, aerodynamic ball. He figures it's a harmless enough thing, and yet still a good way to vent some of his annoyance at Shadow.]

Natasha Romanoff | OTA | Will match

Snow doesn't bother Natasha. She's not excited by it—she's had too much snow in her life to find it exciting, but she's not going to be put off by it either. It's... cute? If confusing.

The mistletoe and sweaters put the sudden swerve into winter wonderland into more context. It's almost endearing. Though she has to wonder where they're getting their information from, considering the results.

If someone runs into her, they'll be graced with a half smile and an arched eyebrow. "Get the feeling that they're a little unclear on the concept of holidays?"

That makes two of them. Actually, he doesn't have any particularly strong feelings about the weather in general, hot or cold. It's the kind of thing of that old, dull people discuss.

But Jack sees the potential in this, at least once he's sure that the snow includes killer snowmen. People can enjoy this, have some fun. Jack's trekking through it himself, breath coming out in little clouds when he runs into Natasha.

"I wish we had some of those little star stickers. The ones that say 'you tried'."

Jack smiles. He's feeling a little bit better these days.

[ nothing feels particularly different about the morning of the 14th, until she goes to head into the kitchen of the apartment she shares with turing (and the fennec and a solid little collection of plants) and nearly hits her montral on the mistletoe that's appeared in their doorway. well that's... new. still waking up, ahsoka squints at it a moment, then ducks to step around and continue onto her coffee. ]

Hey, Turing, did you get a new plant? [ and somehow hang it on the ceiling? ]

there's colour everywhere (guard hq)

[ in all the months she's been here, in the guard, every time she's shown her face she's been in the same tunic and armour getup. today, however, when she stops in before and after her patrol, she's replaced her arm and chest armour with an oversized cardigan that she has fallen unironically in love with. it's adorable. don't ruin this for her.

and she's as apt to give a nod and a smile of greeting as ever, of course. or if you're too close to any mistletoe sprig that may have found its way into hq, she may comment, ] You know, I kinda like this whole mistletoe thing.

[ it's cute, now that she knows what it's about. why couldn't coruscant have had this tradition when she was growing up? ]

[ ahsoka enjoys every bit of this, because she's a loser. which means that while she's not exactly seeking anyone out, when her usual hobby of wandering around and keeping an eye on the city (with a tacky cardigan over her grey tunic; pullover sweaters don't really agree with her montrals) puts her on a path to run into someone she knows, she doesn't mind stopping to say hi. even if it's under mistletoe.

hell, even if she doesn't know you but you've found an amazing sweater for yourself, she might stop you with a compliment. ]

(As usual, her coffee will be there already, waiting for her to drink it. Turing's there too, and they do a pretty good impression of blinking when they look up at Ahsoka.

No. That's mistletoe! I'd wonder if the Gods are celebrating the holidays, but Christmas was a while ago...

[Morning - Everywhere]

[Cold, cold, cold, cold! Even if the city's snow didn't seem cold as the snow on the Blue Planet Rydia was totally unprepared to deal with it- and even after wearing a splendid green sweater... well, the summoner still didn't seem equipped to deal with the 'white cold stuff' and the warmth offered by the wool on the upper part of her body was quickly lost by her naked legs.]

At least the boots are waterproof...

[Feel free to bother Rydia during her quest to find a pair of pants but be warned: this little underground-raised lady is in a foul mood and may poorly react to any attempt to throw snow in her direction. To think she felt so safe in the cave, having a roof over your head usually means having no issues with weather or those ridicolous sky-related-issues. Sheesh, thanks 'Gods' for this- maybe she should consider delight's offer (someone mentioned it on a mesage, right?) to share an happy memory in exchange of fabric. Oh, well, better stay focused on her mission!.]

[Let's admit it: Rydia isn't bothered by the weird properties of mistletoes. Kisses are just kisses, something the summoner never learnt to consider too important (and how could she being raised by monsters? It wasn't like they valued kisses so much- nor she had ever been romanticall interested in any of them) and now that her legs are somehow covered and warm her mood definitely improved...

Let's be honest, the reactions some people have to the mistletoe actually amuse the summoner and if the ends under one with another person- well, she won't complain too much, not after seeing what the underground city is capable of.

[This time she's ended up under the mistletoe with none other than Kain, of all people. He definitely hadn't expected it, himself... There have been a lot of people being more affectionate than usual today, but he's mostly ignored that. Until... now. Kain looks at her uncertainly.]

I... Rydia... would you mind if I...

[Oh, god, what is he thinking? Why does he have this sudden compulsion to... to do such a thing? But Rydia is here, and he's never noticed before how cute she is, or thought about how good her lips would feel on his... He can't get the thought of kissing her out of his mind.]

[ River ] Snow time - fun time!

Will had a rather rude awakening on the morning of the 14th. Cold, wet and slathering was Winston's tongue as it lapped its way across Will's sleeping face. He wouldn't have normally cared but this was one of the few times he'd managed to actually sleep and remain sleeping!

A silky wet nose nudged at his arm, followed by the adorable, hard to ignore the whining of an excitable dog who was desperate for your attention. "Okay, alright, I'm up, Winston." Will smiled, sitting up and ruffling his pets head fondly. In an instant, Winston had darted over towards the window, scratching at the wall and bouncing up. Will frowned as he slipped out of bed, walking over to the cause of the curfuffle. As he did so, Will felt a distinct coolness in the air coming from the partly opened window. Considering that Will sweat heavily during nightmares and sleeping, the change in temperature made him hug himself for warmth.

As he came to a stand before his window, pulling back the drapes, Will stared, astonished at what he saw. "It's been... snowing? " That confused expression turned to a fond one rather quickly, the sight of fluffy white snow, reminded Will of home, of his little house out in the middle of nowhere.

A few hours later, Will could be found down by the river. He'd been pulling bits of wood, metal and over various scraps, he'd found around the City and trying to find a way to fix them altogether. Sure, it might seem odd, seeing Will out in the snow building and making but there was actually a reason behind his madness (for a change.)

If you were to look carefully around Will, you'd notice the small pack of stray Fennic fox he'd saved way back when the Demons arrived. Will had been looking after them, letting them live in the spare room of his apartment, feeding and training them and now he was letting them enjoy the snow. When he was finished tinkering, Will had made a small sled that, along with Winston in the lead, the foxes would be able to pull one maybe two people around over the snow.

Will had been scavenging for supplies. He's had an idea about making a sled for his fennec fox to pull. Exploring various stores, ally ways and other buildings for any supplies he can get his hands on.

It was while looking up at old windows and doorframes, with the intention of borrowing the already made up frame structure, that Will noticed something else, something he'd not seen here in the City before.

"Mistletoe?"

Reaching up, fingers brushing over the festive plant yet it remained just out of reach. It was odd to see it here, perhaps it showed up with the all the snow? He wondered which God had this bright idea or if it meant more vegetation would be showing up, things they could actually eat instead of pretty, poisonous berries.

Will being Will, he was more interested in discovering why and where it had come from, that he was completely oblivious to someone walking up behind him.

Amos came around the corner and stopped, blinking, before a delighted grin spread over his face. "Oh! Hello there!" he chirped at the dog and the foxes. He called a mental greeting to them as welk before he came closer and crouched down, grinning brightly and offering his hands for the critters to sniff. The jabberjay that had been riding on his shoulder took off with a cry, heading for safer spaces.

Able to speak to animals telepathically meant that Amos knew which animals might tolerate being petted and which ones preferred to keep their distance. Most animals liked him anyway, as he liked all creatures great and small, and most of them could sense that.

"Hey hey, cuties, where did you come from? Ya'll are a long way from home, ain't'chya?" Amos crooned in the easy singsong people used for babies and small adorable pets. His New Orleans accent marked that he was a long way from home himself.

Prussia | open | somewhere in the city

[Waking up to a fresh coat of snow is a comforting, familiar feeling to Prussia, and it takes him a moment to remember that he's in Hadriel. Hadriel, which is underground. How did it snow?

Before going outside, he has no choice but to bundle the sweater that was left for him in his apartment, under his hoodie. Even more perplexing than the snow, however, is the mistletoe everywhere. It dawns in him that in the few days he's been here, he never found out what month it was. Time to ask whoever's nearby.]

Hey-- Is it Christmas all of a sudden here? How the hell could it snow?

[Yukari wishes people would stop approaching him. Having this eyepatch makes it difficult to pay attention to whoever comes at him from his right side and it's made him a little jumpy to boot. Having his depth perception drop has not been a pleasant experience for him. When Prussia speaks to him, his first instinct is him jolting to grab his sword on his back by the hilt. When he realises Prussia isn't a threat, he releases the grip on his sword, turning to the man.]

It's February, last I checked. [He didn't say that with a level of snark. Not at all.] And probably one of the Gods did it. They have the tendency to just change the scenery at a whim. Be careful not to run into any invisible walls. IF this is Tranquility-chan's work, he has a tendency to be irresponsible by camouflaging dangerous elements.

I. Ice Angels (It's Snowtime)

One would hardly think to ever look so far down in order to find Rey. And yet, when the snow falls and the streets are full of flaky puffs of purity, there she is.

Despite the lack of sleeves on the red and white sweater, she is perfectly content lying over a pile of cold snow with a deadpan expression plastered to her face. Back to the ground, arms moving up and down and legs shifting to leave a particular pattern in the ground, which may ring familiar to many of Hadriel.

What the hell is she doing? Even she isn't sure. She's been told that people do this sort of thing for fun.

II. Kiss Me, I'm (Sorta) Irish

No amount of warm fuzzy feelings of affection will possess Rey to start pouncing on random people who just happen to be standing beneath the hemiparasitic plants, strategically placed all over the city. After all, this isn't her holiday tradition. Never had the type of family to share it with or even give a damn.

She might be lacking in warm layers of clothing, but she is not in want of physical contact or bundling up with the next stranger.

Familiar faces might be a different story.

Otherwise, expect a look that practically screams 'don't you fucking dare' with the threat of a suplex by a tank woman.

Amos dodged under a doorway to avoid being divebombed by one of the jabberjays. That doorway was occupied, and he blinked at Rey for a moment, then glanced up. He looked back down at her, took in her thunderous expression, then grinned his brightest and most charming grin.

He bounced up on his tiptoes and delivered a kiss to the end of her nose.

"Merry whatever?"

Carlisle Longinmouth

There were many ways Carlisle could have greeted the sight waiting for him outside of the Spire: he could have been enamored by the sudden beauty of the landscape, enthralled by the transformation of the underground city into a wintery sight unlike anything he has seen since his capture. Perhaps Carlisle would have enjoyed the view from the doorway on any other day, but instead, he reacts as follows:

"You have got to be joking!"

The clergyman huffs in irritation as he takes a few steps from the threshold, crossing his arms to keep out the cold, curling the sleeves of his thin sweater over his hands -- the garment he has on is not nearly warm enough for this kind of weather. It isn't the snow itself that is offensive so much as the fact it came in such a huge volume a little too late.

"After all that work Emily and I put into getting you snow, this shows up!" he continues to fume to his companion. "I can only assume the false gods are laughing right now, thinking they're so clever for watching you suffer, only to taunt us with this."

When not with his alien partner, Carlisle has plenty to do by himself, most of which involves his plants. One good thing about living in an underground city is that the weather doesn't vary too much -- it's never too hot or too cold for what vegetation they have there to survive. Things don't just up and change at the drop of a hat.

Well, save for now, and instead of the drop of a hat, it was a thick blanket of snow. And now that the cave has changed, he has to move those plants that can't take the cold to somewhere safe.

One might catch him around town, toting a potted sprout or two back to his home in the Spire; one might see him in the empty store just beneath his rooftop garden, rearranging the various supplies and containers to make room for ones already filled with saplings and shrubs, fighting with a coiler vine that has wrapped itself around his leg. One may pass him in the park as he checks on his bloodworts, making sure their red, bulbous fruits are still intact, not weighed down by the layer of frost upon them. An individual might even spot him in the bar, getting a drink to mourn the loss of one of this beloved herbs. It's almost as if the gods don't know anything about otherworldly flora and how a sudden change in temperature might affect them. Really.

No matter where he is found, Carlisle is likely wearing one of many different sweaters, all of which he nicked from the stores in a bid to keep himself warm. They won't give him the airs of someone in touch with fashion, but they're keeping him cozy in the cold, so at least one of the false gods had briefly considered the comfort of their captives.

Carlisle's exasperated exclamation has Glacius hurrying to the doorway right after the clergyman, expecting... well, maybe not the worst, given how his partner sounds utterly chafed rather than outright panicked or terrified. But he's not definitely expecting anything good--so when he comes outside and sees a beautiful coating of snow over the ground, transforming the dreary cavern city into a much more welcome sight, he's... rather taken aback.

That doesn't last long, however. Fond amusement at the sake of his partner's predicament quickly overtakes him, and he chuckles heartily as he steps up besides Carlisle, wrapping his arm around his shoulders.

"Look at it this way--if you and Emily hadn't helped me with the Healing Ice, I'd be too sick to enjoy this with you now. So really, they played right into our hands, wouldn't you say?"

[Snow!

Snow isn't exactly unusual in the Underground, but it has been some time since Asgore made the trip down to Snowdin, so this is a delightful surprise! He can be found wandering the city in a sweater that miraculously fits him. There's still no shoes that would fit feet like his, but that's alright. He doesn't tend to wear any to Snowdin either.

He knows what mistletoe is, so tries to avoid the little plants when he can. It is a very nice tradition, for other people, but he does not...quite want to deal with that right now. It is nice simply to get out and enjoy the winter weather.]

[Of course, he hasn't quite escaped the compulsion to do nice things for people. Or maybe he just wants to do that on his own?

Regardless, Asgore is out on the steps of his building, with a warm kettle and a number of little to-go cups he acquired from somewhere or other. He waves politely as people go by.]

Howdy! Would you like some tea or cocoa?

15th Afternoon

[...he knew that non-humans were brought through the door. That supposedly, they co-existed in peace with the rest of the human population. He expected more synths. Ghouls. Super mutants. Heck, something big and ugly and terrifying.

He did not expect this fluffy, fuzzy...animal, giving out cups of hot drinks. Oh sure there are still the claws to account for and the size of the thing, but...honestly he feels like he's staring at some kind of human-sized, pre-war huggable toy. Like a giant cuddly deathclaw but with less vicious eyes, fuzzy fur, floppy ears, a beard and huge horns. Actually, wasn't there a pre-war animal that looked like that? What was its name again? Maybe this two-legged beast was some evolutionary form of it.

So while he's standing there trying to exactly what animal it was, he might also just be staring at Asgore from across the road. Rude, Danse.]

A. February 14th - Sweaters & Smooches

These sweaters are incredibly tacky, and definitely not something she'd like to be seen wearing anywhere in public. However, they're just about perfect for wearing around the house when she's got laundry to do, so she's picked up two sweaters and has no intention of anyone ever seeing her with either of them on. Ideally, no one will ever see her even carrying them with her.

A quick extraction. That had been the plan. But instead, she finds herself feeling quite cheerful and sociable. She can sense that the snow was created through magic, and wonders if it was created by someone from her world. There's magic coming from plants she's never seen before, too, but she's got no idea what it does. Maybe it only exists to spread cheer, or maybe there's something more. She can't tell, but she's intrigued. That curiosity combined with her desire to be out and about, and she completely forgets about the ugly sweaters folded neatly in her arms when she encounters someone and approaches them with a pleasant smile.

"Hello. Lovely weather we're having, hm? A little cold, but it's a welcome change, is it not?"

She leans in to give the other person a quick peck on each cheek in greeting.

B. Around the City

By this point, Ikaruga's aware of what the mistletoe does, and she's conscious of where it is. She just doesn't particularly care that much, as there isn't anyone in this place that she actively hates. There are some she likes and many more she's indifferent to, but she's in jovial spirits and thinks it's amusing how flustered some people get over even something as simple as a tasteful peck on the cheek.

She knows where the nearby mistletoe is. Does this person approaching her? Only one way to find out for sure.

[Who knows how or why it happened... Somehow, today, Kain is wearing a dragon-themed sweater over his armor as he makes his rounds. Is he somehow being festive? Not really, it's just especially cold today and he needed something to warm himself up.]

[Eventually, he decides he has to go in and get warm. Too bad for him, the doorway of the first building he heads into has mistletoe hanging right above him. It's an awkward situation just waiting to happen...]

[The last time AM had seen Kain, he had encountered what he later realized was his double. Needless to say, the encounter gave AM plenty of new information about the man who had initially saved his life. Granted, it was tinted with bias, but there were plenty of truths that AM had to consider. He had wanted to find Kain and evaluate him, try and find out if these weaknesses were true...

In a building where AM grabs this sweater, though, he sees Kain. He walks over to an appropriate distance to greet him.]

Hello Kain. It's been a while.

Kylo Ren

[Kylo, at first, is blissfully unaware of what's going on. He's far more interested in the snow. Four months ago, he would have been glad never to see it ever again, but after days of the same weather, at least it's a novelty. He's only wearing the sweater he found because A) It's black and B) It's cold.

Anyone who gets caught with him under the mistletoe for the first two days is going to find a masked man looming over them, looking just as likely to stab them as kiss them. Don't worry. All he'll do is kiss, be it a platonic kiss on the cheek or something more.

Once he figures out what's going on, but not before a few kisses given out, he'll be doing his utter best to avoid and destroy what mistletoe he can find. This plant is dangerous and therefore must be shredded into 3,000 pieces before it is safe to wander around the city again.]

[While it's certainly been a fair amount of time to pass since his Double attempted all of that damage, Yukari is blissfully unaware of what happened between these two... for the time being. Yukari doesn't particularly care about the mistletoe and it's enchantment, either. All it does is give him an uncomfortable fluffy feeling that he's more than capable of resisting. Constantly looking upward to find the obnoxious things is just too much trouble for him to be bothered with.

And thus, consequently, he ends up under the mistletoe with Kylo here. He does look up when he gets that faintly warm and fuzzy feeling again to, indeed, acknowledge there's a mistletoe above him... and a person beside him to trigger it's effects. He looks up at Kylo, properly revealing his eyepatch to cover his missing right eye, as he squints with his left in thought for a moment. Wait, where have I seen this guy before?

And why is it giving him red flags?]

[Rosen, in a black sweater patterned with large black and silver music notes, can be found in the park. Having cleared off a spot for himself on one of the snowed covered benches he now sits with a few loose pieces of paper in his lap, a pencil in one bandaged hand and a sprig of mistletoe in the other and seems very much engrossed with the task at hand. He had found the suspiciously innocent looking sprig above his doorway that morning and, having decided to document what he can here, he has decided to sketch it and to note any observations he can.

Though for the moment it seems altogether unremarkable.

He turns it in his hand, sketches, turns it back, sketches some more, then begins delicately taking it apart leaf by leaf. ]

[Adam is in his brand new ugly sweater, enjoying the snow in the park with his dog - it's a nice change, and Aspen is happy to play while Adam is happy to watch and experience the strange sense of peace. He watches the man on the bench for a moment, curious, before making his way over.]

[Ushahin takes in the change of scenery as he always does: with a state too mild to properly be called surprise. Nothing really does anymore, and since he's died in this place, well, what else could possibly happen? He's found a cozy sweater, oblivious to any ugly properties it may possess.

For the first day or so, he's mainly concerned with wandering through the snow, appreciating the fluffy little clusters that have popped up everywhere. They'd so rarely gotten snow in Darkhaven. It had been too warm, turning any moisture coming down straight into rain. The cold makes his bones ache a little, but he'll ignore that for right now.

When he finally gets stuck under the mistletoe, he'll look up at the plant with wide eyes. He hasn't felt an urge like this since he was stuck in the swamp of Satoris' birth, where strange things were always bound to happen. Of course, then the urges had been more sexual, whereas right now they're more platonic. He'll be giving whoever is stuck with him a quick kiss on the cheek or forehead, his own face dusted a light pink with blush. But if someone wants to give him more than that, go right ahead. He'll be doing his best deer-in-headlights impression if anyone actually kisses him on the lips.]

I had one of those toys when I was little. But it was blue.

[He rises up on tiptoe and reaches up to take Ushahin's face in both hands, touch very gentle, urging the taller man to bend just a little so Amos can deliver a light peck to the very tip of his nose. Amos's hands are calloused and strong, but his touch is light and his smile, as he drops back flatfooted, is easy and fond.]
