By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.
And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!
Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you trip over a kid and die, please let us know here.
the 26th
I'm hungry, too. I found this [holds up the can of peaches] but I don't know how to open it. Do you?
no subject
「He takes a better look at the can, not even the fruit looks familiar to him, but the picture is very pretty and they do look edible. He pokes the can with a fingernail, making it clink.」
Hmm. Maybe with a dagger? Do you have one?
no subject
no subject
Why?
no subject
Because I'm noble born and because of that, he wanted to kill me.
[but she smiles and remembers her courtesies, curtseying to him]
My name is Margaery of House Tyrell. What's your name?
no subject
「Oh, well. Wait, what is she doing? He's not used to that sort of greeting but, sure, ok.」
Atem.
「Look, she asked for his name, not his title. Besides, it's pretty obvious to him that everyone should know it.」
Lend me your dagger, I will not try to kill you.
no subject
It's a pleasure to meet you, Atem. Where are you from?
[unfortunately, it's not obvious to her.
she pulls out her dagger with great reluctance. it's not him, it's just that it was a gift from Ephemera]
Here. Be careful with it, please. It's very important to me.
no subject
「He holds the dagger with great care.」
Okay, I will. I promise.
「He at least is not so bad with weapons in general, since he's been taught from an early age how to at the very least defend himself. He also takes the can from her and places it on the ground, kneeling before it. After examining it for a second or two, he places the dagger on the lid, then makes a little hole. The metal is not so hard but the dagger is! That's great. He keeps making little holes around the edge.」
no subject
Thank you. I greatly appreciate it.
[she's new to weapons, but Rosie taught her how to wield a dagger. she's pleased to see that not only is he being careful with her dagger, it's actually working to open the container]
no subject
「Essos? Westeros? That doesn't sound at all to something he knows...
He muses about that as works carefully on the lid which is almost done! He lifts the lid with the dagger and peeks inside it.」
Look--
no subject
[and Kemet is someplace she's never heard of. not even in her lessons about Essos and the Free Cities.
she does and--] Peaches!
no subject
「Maybe what she's talking about is just in another place because he knows his countries! He was taught about them everyday.
Peaches, huh? They smell so ... sweet, but he's never seen peaches before, so he stares at them with great interest. She seems to know what they are, that should be enough.」
Are they good?
no subject
[and she was taught about Essos and the Free Cities and none of those places are among them.
they are sweet, especially if they've been packed with syrup. she looks around the stores and finds two forks, offering one of the forks to him]
They're very good. You've never had a peach before?
no subject
「Funny, he gets that concept better, since the Field of Reeds is supposed to be in another plane, of so he was told. He gets the fork, with a smile, but offers the can at ner first.」
No, we have... melons, dates, figs and pomegranates, no peaches.
no subject
[they don't have the concept of different planes in Westeros. they don't really even have the concept of Westeros being on a round planet. she smiles at him, takes her fork, spears a peach slice, and eats it]
Ohhhh. We have to import those from Dorne. It's very hot and dry there.
no subject
「Now it's his turn to try the peaches. He does and his face brightens, he's never had something so sweet!」
no subject
Mine is green everywhere. Everywhere. We grow the wheat, barley, corn, apples, peaches, and grapes for all of Westeros. They say that my home is called The Reach because we give your hands something to reach for at the dinner table. Highgarden, my family's keep, is especially beautiful. Roses so yellow they look as though they were made of gold, hedge mazes, and orchards. It's beautiful.
no subject
Yeah, it's fun, you get to see a lot of animals, though, we have to be careful of crocodiles and hippos.
「He listens to her words, his eyes going wide at them. It sounds pretty.」
What are roses?
no subject
[The Reach is the most beautiful part of Westeros]
They're a flower that we use for our House sigil. [she pulls a fine gold chain out and shows him the charm hanging off of it] Roses look sort of like this. They have velvety petals and they smell good, but you have to be careful of the thorns.
no subject
「Oh, a flower!」
It's pretty. We don't have those back home. 「Yet.」 But we have water lilies. They are pretty too.
no subject
[yes and one that House Tyrell has taken great pains to cultivate.
she thinks a moment] I don't think this place would have them. It's too dry. Roses need to be watered. And we have water lilies back home, too. What color is your favorite?
no subject
「He thinks about it.」
Some are purple, and sometimes they can be so dark they look like the sky at night, some are rosey, oh, are roses called like that because of the color? Hmm, some are also also white, but all of them have different shapes... I like them all. And you?
no subject
Probably they are. Roses are often pink or red, but House Tyrell favors the yellow roses due to our sigil. And I think I like the white ones best. It's not a House color, but it goes well with my complexion.
no subject
「Sounds cool somehow.
With her... complexion? That makes him stare at her for a moment... Then he shrugs.
no subject
[part of the lessons in charm involved what did and what didn't look good on her. white goes well with her pale skin and blue eyes]
