After Love's post to the network, you'll find motorcycles and some food supplies stocked and ready for the taking. Your call to action is pretty significant as it's the first time you'll be outside of the city for any significant period of time after being in it for so long.
Nevertheless, you have supplies to pack and a big checklist of things to bring because there sure as hell isn't anything you can use as food or shelter out there in the desert. Hope you have some extra suntan lotion and sleeping bags too- you'll want them after a long day of driving! The travel should be fairly uneventful, but there's always lots of camping and survival skills that can come in handy for this part.
Once you get to the cities, you know your mission: locate the Hope temple and place one of your orbs onto the altar. Then, you wait- survive for another week or so and hope your supplies don't run too thin because there's no food out here. After that time is passed, then you can go home and restore Hope like the lovely littleemotion batteryallies you are!► This log covers February 16th-February 28th.

But others wished to go with them, and Maedhros for one didn't have the heart to deny them. Especially when one was Sansa. He was working to ensure everyone they knew to be going would have ample arms and protection from the elements and potential threats, last minute adjustments to the promised vehicles that would help speed their journey along.
Extra food and water for all would need to be scrounged up, he wanted to take as few chances as possible. But he needed to get out, and this was just a convenient reason. Perhaps too convenient, but they would deal with that when and if they came to it.

The new bikes he eyes with excitement; they're no replacement for the horses at home, of course, but they'll more than do under the circumstances. It's been too long since he had the chance to ride freely, speeding away into the wild. He'll take the chance while he can.

He had already made a trip to Love's temple to pick up all the orbs he could carry. He was also carrying a pack practically large enough to contain a donkey! -- but of course it was full of food and water containers. He had rolled up blankets into bundles to be tied on the backs of the scooters.

it all had Margaery feeling not entirely herself, in need of a change, of a new goal, so when Love posted to the network asking for people to go on a quest to bolster Hope's strength and possibly bring back Sorrow as well? she couldn't help wanting to at least try. not for Hope, not really. for Sorrow and the chance at getting real information about the Door.
when Sansa and Maglor both invited Margaery along on their quest, she didn't hesitate to say yes, she'd come. she's not exactly dressed to go camping, but she'll make the best of it. that's what she does]

Much as Rey would have loved to tell Love to shove it up their gas, her desire to get out of this place and actually do something helpful for a change supersedes her bitterness. Besides, she doesn't trust after Love's announcement that they wouldn't try to pull some other messed up stunt for those who don't go off on a little day trip.
Or however the hell long this is going to take. Well, she's about to be partially right, anyway.
Still, at least they've got better modes of transportation than fucking mopeds.
Not knowing how long this is going to take, Rey comes well prepared. Her bike is stacked with supplies, from food to canteens to other tools and sleeping kits while she's out there. After all, she's done this sort of thing before. Making it through harsh conditions is what she does.
She finishes tying together her supplies on the back seat of her bike, double-checking to make sure the knots are tight so not to send everything flying while going full speed through the desert.
"Will have to do," she notes to herself.
Survival. [OTA]
On various parts of the trip, Rey will be making the rare pit-stops. Whether she's stocking up on water at one of the ponds or attempting to scavenge the city ruins, or maybe one can catch her one night setting up a fire with ease, despite a suspicious lack of matches. She doesn't seem to have any trouble with arranging shelter, either.
If you ask nicely, she might share, or shed a pearl of wisdom if you're having trouble making a go out in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. Or chat her up like a good old pal, that works just as well.

"What's for dinner?" she asks, despite making absolutely no move to help make anything just yet. She did bring supplies but Rey might have assumed it was just for appearances since her selective diet isn't anything she's overly open about.

He has to stare at all the stuff that she's carrying and has to start wondering his life choices. He's alone here, without his friends and without his partner carrying his own weight, he doesn't have a Millennium Item, he's... probably not doing this the right way. Damn.
All he's got is a backpack with a few canned meals, a bottle or two of water, his deck.. and... on the little space behind his seat, a fiery salamander in a cage. Pretty much all he owns to tell the truth.
"Are you sure?" There is a certain mocking tone in his voice, but the truth is he's surprised with all the stuff she loaded into the little bike. "I think you forgot the fridge."

That's because you wouldn't want her as a traveling companion. Who would? A dead woman doesn't make for good company. Or so some would think. If you're attacked, the likelihood of her being of any assistance is slim to nil. Her scythe isn't any use against the living, and there are only so many spirits that inhabit this planet that need reaping.
So, she goes it alone. And on foot. Free of the searing rays of the sun glaring down on her, the woman in black can be seen near or in the distant haze. One might need to double-take to make sure she's no mere mirage. Especially when they find themselves passing by her multiple times during their trek.
Worse yet, one could be just cruising across the desert when suddenly that woman manifests in the back seat of their rig, humming a little diddy in their ear. Personal space? She has no knowledge of such a concept.

That's what goes through his mind as he squints at the dark speck on the sand hundreds of yards away and realizes who it is. It's been a while since he's seen her, or heard those weird bird noises. But that's definitely the same weird woman from before.
He contemplates approaching her. Something tells him she's not in any need of help... but what if she is? It would only take him a minute to fly over to her and check. An annoying inconvenience, sure, and not one he's dying to endure, but... if something happened to her he'd probably feel like shit forever for not taking two seconds to make sure she was alright.
He sighs. And then lifts off from the ground, soaring in her direction. Surely she'll see him coming, but he doesn't attempt to wave or make any other communication with her until he's landing at her side.]

[ WOW WHAT A SWEET-ASS RIDE! Or so she would think in a more eloquent manner if she actually was familiar with what a motorcycle is. Unfortunately she does not know what these things are, or rather she didn't know... until now.
Because the machine is unfamiliar to her, she first makes a point to try to understand it-- how it works, what drives it, what are its main components. It's technology is far beyond her own time's, and yet that point only drives her inquisitive nature further. If nothing else it seems like a bike, only without the need for the user to pedal it themselves. ] Faster than the finest racehorse and stronger than a warhorse... [ She says to whomever is with her. She taps one of the dials upon its front. ] These vehicles are remarkable. [ And they look fun too.
She'll turn to whoever is with her and ask: ] Do these exist in your own world?
B: Somewhere in the Wilderness
[ She actually does not mind the heat of the desert as much as one may think, but that doesn't mean the blazing sun and the sting of sand on the wind isn't taking its toll. When she eventually comes upon a small oasis, she rests the cycle to the side. Crouching down by the water, Zelda fills up a canteen and hands it to whoever has traveled to this point. ] Here. This journey has not been too treacherous so far, but who knows when we may find water next. Or what adversaries.
C: Somewhere in One of the New Cities
[ Alright! They made it! Great! Fabulous. Only... looks like it's time to just stay put while the orb sits upon the alter for a week. Which means a lot of waiting around. Zelda is sitting upon one of the steps up towards one of the desolated and ruined temples, and it seems that she has a golden harp in hand. Currently she's strumming away at a few of its strings, although she's not playing anything specific at the moment. In fact, she looks a little bored.
After a moment, Zelda sets the harp down on her lap and leans back on her hands. ] What a wide, grand world this is... [ She says with a sigh. And then turning to whoever else happens to be waiting with her, she'll go ahead and say: ] Do you want to go exploring the city while we wait? Perhaps we can find something else of interest among these ruins.

( This might be one of the only chances Serah will have to learn more about this place. The mission itself may be important, and she does want to help, but the opportunity to see outside Hadriel is unique and appealing.
Just like landing in a new place in time. Learn what she can to find out how to correct the problems that have brought her here.
So, understandably, Serah is right there as soon as she hears about the mission, carrying a backpack she's carefully filling with food supplies and a flask of water. The compass is placed in a pocket of the cotton robe she wears to help protect against the heat, and the orb carefully wrapped in cloth and placed in the backpack.
When she sees people, whether they're picking up supplies or heading for the motorcycles, she offers a smile, and - for those who seem to be stood by themselves, like she is - a comment. )

two/ trying to get through the dark on a feeling

( The monsters that surround the outskirts of the city aren't new to Serah, she's explored in this direction before, armed with bows and arrows and magic to try and help keep the city a little bit safer. They are a little frustrating, however, when you're just trying to make your way to the location the compass is trying to point you. She's just about finished off a mushroom-looking monster that had been shambling its way towards her, more than ready to jump back onto her bike and continue forward, when the snap snap of a treasure chest's jaws comes from a spot just to her left.
Honestly. Can't a girl catch a break? She's immediately distracted by the monster, scrambling to stop it with a flare of fire magic, missing the second of the mimics creeping up behind her.
... Give a girl a hand? Or maybe just watch as she realises she's surrounded. I'm not the boss of you. )
three/ lost our gravity, now we’re weightless

( She makes it, in one piece too. Thank Etro for the Cure spell. Serah makes her way into the temple first and foremost, gingerly pulling her backpack off and finding the orb, unwrapping it and placing it onto the altar.
Love had described this as "sucking up bits of dead Hopes". A strange thought, indeed. Unsettling, really. But if this will help the gods of this place, if this will help get her back to her own world-
It's worth it. She's sure of that.
Her curiosity does, however, quickly get the better of her, and Serah wanders off through the temple ruins, trying to get a picture of what this place was like. Eyes lingering on walls and architecture more than they are the surroundings, she's more than likely to bump into someone like that. )

( This city - whatever its name might have been - stands as a wreck. Though there are still buildings, most of it has been reduced to rubble. Serah wraps her fingers around her necklace as she steps through the streets, quiet and thoughtful. She takes a moment to stare at the broken glass of a shop window in the late afternoon sun, steps coming to a halt. )
... I wonder what the people here were like.
( She's musing to herself, really. Caught up in thoughts about worlds that were once great and turned into ruins. Remembering stories of Paddran society and how they were their own undoing. Thinking about Noel's explanation of his future, a world that had decayed so far they couldn't even grow their own food. )

What he hadn't expected, however, were these "bike" things. Vax stands staring at it for a good long while, watching others jump into theirs and...zoom on away. It's unlike anything he's ever seen before, and he's not sure he trusts it.

Kate is many things. Possessive, certainly. It takes a certain amount of strength to take a breath, to remember to look at things and analyse them like Dr. Sweets told her, and to realise this isn't her. That she has no reason to feel this way.
So, by all logic, that means this is something created by one of the gods. And that is enough reason to leave Hadriel behind, to call up friends in this journey and head to the bikes. She already has a hefty backpack of things on hand when she gets there. )

Leaving the house with George and Pell alone in it was harder than she thought it might be. The thought of not staying with them to make sure they were safe, to make sure they ate and no one came near them, well...It was unnerving how strongly she felt like she should stay.
And that was exactly why she was getting the hell out of the city. Yes, she was protective of them under normal circumstances, but this was not normal. She could tell.]

Tucker Prompts!
[Tucker insisted on driving. He always does, so it shouldn't surprise Kyna at least. The weird little dune-buggy/bike thing definitely handles differently than a car, but it's not like there's anything to run into out here, or roads to obey traffic laws on. Just sand and rock and sometimes a little pond with some scrubby plants around it.
Fucking exciting.
Hey though, at least it's better than sitting in a ruined city for months, cooking like an egg on a sidewalk. He'll take miles of endless nothing over that any day. At least he's moving. Still, could use some tunes.]
Anybody got any music on their phones? And I mean actual music, not bullshit.
2. Look on My Works, Ye Mighty, and Despair
[Just as Love said, the ruined cities aren't much to look at. At least, the one they've finally come to isn't. Most of the buildings are blasted to bits, a lot like how Hadriel was when the Null finally fucked off. All the windows of the towers are empty, all the shops are half-collapsed, and the temples are crumbling slowly into the sand around them.
It reminds him of the places they used to do jobs, back home. Kinda spooky, kinda interesting. The places that people left behind and forgot about, for the most part. Sometimes for good reason. He wants to do some exploring; could be some interesting stuff left over, maybe some bones or something. So while they're waiting for the Hope orb to charge up and do its thing, he wanders.
At some point he winds up in a somewhat-intact spire, only the top two floors sheared off. Inside, it looks a lot like the ones in Hadriel, just in much worse shape. He picks through the rubble, nudging over stones with his boots, hopping over spaces where stairs or floors are missing. This is probably the most excitement he's gonna get for a while, better make the most out of it.
He can be found standing in the open now-roof of the building, shielding his eyes against the sun, trying to see if he can see anything else out on the horizon. So far that's a no.]
3. Camp Crystal
LakePools[It's weird making camp and sleeping during the daylight. In fact, it's hard to keep track of when the day and night actually separate. So by accident or design, they've ended up out in the open for the two hours it's actually dark, with nothing but the blankets and supplies they brought from Hadriel to keep them company.
Tucker's not tired, because he's much more alert in the dark, so along with whoever else isn't sleeping, he's up keeping watch. For... what? He doesn't know.]
So, who wants to tell scary stories?

Kain and OPEN
[Initially, he gets off to a good start. Better than good, really, as he's moving right along on the motorcycle. It just feels so good, so freeing to be out under an open sky like this. Even now, it still amazes him to look up and see blue sky above him. He'll never stop appreciating it. The heat is worth it, in his opinion.]
[Soon enough, he glances over to see someone else riding nearby. Whoever it is, they're at a pace with him at the moment... Kain can't help it, he's in a better mindset than usual. Besides, the landscape is so boring and repetitive at this point. So he revs the motorcycle, waving to the person nearby before he pulls slightly ahead. He calls out as he speeds by,]

Sandstorm
[It can't all be easy, of course. Kain is the sort to pay close attention to the sky, so when he sees the now-familiar signs of an incoming sandstorm, he takes action. He's well stocked with supplies, including a tent for camping in, which he now makes haste to set up. The winds start picking up more, and he happens to glance up toward whoever has joined him.]
You have any better ideas? We need to take cover, fast!
Exploring the Ruins
[Eventually, he finds something. It's a bit of a disappointment, though, the whole city utterly wrecked as he starts walking through it. He frowns, pulling out the compass.]
Is this the right place?
[Nothing looks too promising right now, but he's willing to explore a bit more before dismissing it as a lost cause.]
I guess we should look around.
Sandstorm
Zelda will rush to help him pitch the tent, hands expertly pulling the string taught and stomping the picks into the ground with her boot. They'll have their shelter set up in no time. But there is one thing she can do-- ] One moment.
[ A stylized conductor's baton materializes in her hand, the ribbon tied at the end of it flapping in the wind. Zelda waves it once upward, once towards the side, and then repeats the motion. Now a bit of a gale of their own has been conjured, tall whirlwinds emerging in direct opposition to the storm that's fast approaching. What she's made won't be enough to dispel or even divert the storm, but if she can maintain the wind around their little tent for the time being, it will act as a counter-current. A shield, in other worlds. ] Hurry-- inside. [ She'll need to keep the baton in hand, dedicating a part of her mind to maintaining the spell as the storm continues. ]

Regardless, he smiled as he walked alongside the others. Soon, he began to notice their surroundings. Those spires in the distance….they reminded him a little of the ones back in Hadriel. Was this their destination perhaps? As they walked, he began to look for signs of the temple.
And then his eyes caught the sight of the battlefield, which became clearer the more they approached it. The bodies were clearly recognizable. Delight’s words echoed in his mind. According to her, the Null had destroyed other planets. And according to Love, there were other gods like Hope and the others in the past.]
Hey, guys. I know it’s not my place to say this but might it be worth stopping here for a few minutes? I'm sure I don't need to explain why.

it was his first time away from the city, and he looked over the other three to make sure that they'd made the trek without any hiccups. leaving his vehicle behind, he scanned the area carefully, coming up behind komaeda but checking over his shoulder often.
he stopped alongside nagito, looking down at the bodies littering the ground, a sudden pain in the side of his head making him wince just slightly, not even enough to go noticed by anyone else. and yet... )
We can catch our breath. We've made good time.
kiran anthony (OTA)
[Like many other people preparing to help Love with its request, Kiran is out in the city on the evening of the 16th, picking up whatever goods he might need. While normally he'd stick to the skies, he knows he needs to conserve his power for the trip, so for once he's actually walking through the city on foot and mingling with the other townsfolk.
Despite already being here for several months, Kiran hasn't met very many people - and that's on purpose. Even now, he's going out of his way not to make eye contact with anyone. He's still very convinced that he'll be finding a way home soon, so what's the point in getting to know anyone here all that closely, anyway? And they're probably mostly assholes anyway ...or so the logic goes.
That same logic allows him to justify doing any sort of mildly inappropriate and/or passive-aggressive actions as he shops for supplies. Yeah, he totally just grabbed that set of goggles you were clearly considering buying. Yeah, he just cut you in line. And did someone actually take that thing out of your shopping cart while your back was turned? You know, the one you'd been so happy to find since it was last one on the shelf?
Kiran manages to get everything he needs to set out tomorrow, but probably not without ruffling some feathers. And probably not without embarrassing anyone who had decided to travel and/or go shopping with him.]
2. WE HAVE THE MEATS
[It was easy to predict getting attacked by a monster shortly after leaving the city. Kiran had prepared himself for it, and long story short, he managed to kill it. But the kill wasn't without any trouble, and now, as he sits next to the beast's corpse, gasping to catch his breath, he worries if it wouldn't have been better to just run away from it. The monster had got him good; he could feel blood dripping behind his ear from a gash on his scalp and he'd be waking up tomorrow with plenty of bruises.
... at least they have some fresh meat to eat tonight? Wait, no time to think about that right now.]
Are you alright?! [he calls out, blinking through his blurry vision. He knew he would be alright, but the same might not not be said for the other person here (whether fellow travel companion or a stranger accosted by the beast). Kiran lost track of them in the struggle, between the chaos of the attack and the winds kicked up by his magic. The rush of the winds had stopped, allowing him to hear again, but it would take a few minutes for the clouds of kicked-up sand to settle.]
H-Hey...! You alright? [he calls again. Can he stand? He tries to, and manages after a stumble or two. Yeah, he'll be alright, but he's not sure about you yet.]
3. CITY AND TEMPLE (WILDCARD)
[After a day, Kiran finally arrives at the location he was guided to by Love's compass. Despite this, he seems to be in no rush to go to the Temple. The city itself is in a middling state of decay - there's more here to see than just the crumbling foundations of old buildings, but the city isn't exactly livable either. There was clearly a massive Null attack on this place at some point in the past. Kiran parks the motorcycle on the edges of the city, and in his eagerness to explore, even leaves most of his supplies with it.
Kiran has not considered the possibility that others have come to this same city by coincidence, so as he spelunks through dilapidated buildings and rummages through anything that looks moderately interesting, it will be pretty easy to sneak up on him, whether intentionally or not. Perhaps for the same reason, it'll be easy to
stealborrow most of the things he left behind at his bike... for anyone who is inclined to do so. And yet, Carlisle had seen such behavior before from the alien's kind, albeit not regarding him, and not from Glacius. The familiarity of it made Carlisle distinctly uncomfortable, but not nearly as much as what he found when he arrived as his apartment: the way in was barred, completely encapsulated in a thick layer of ice.
Well. That would be one way to literally cool his head. Carlisle swallowed down his immediate irritation, reminding himself this was not Glacius. This was not him. This was the gods turning them upon each other, and though he could perceive such an influence, Glacius may not, especially if it preyed upon his natural desire to protect his lover.
That is what they are, after all. Perhaps they should act like it.
Unable to conjure enough fire to melt the barrier -- what good would that do when the true barrier between them was their own feelings, ones that were no doubt being manipulated? -- Carlisle tried calling to Glacius instead.

The big alien only responds in a tone as sour as his gaze is.
"Now you want to talk? After acting like our partnership is something to be ashamed of and telling me you don't need me to look after you on a completely public network? Why did you even come back here if that's how you feel?!"

If she thought Hadriel looked bad after the Null started attacking...well, it's lucky they were able to escape when they did.
Well, only one thing to do here. She starts to enter the city proper, only to halt at the sound of someone else approaching. She gives a wave and waits for them to get closer.]
Hey. I thought I was going to be alone, but two's company—want to go looking for the temple together? You never know what might be lurking around.
[Monsters and such. At least this time she has shoes if she has to do some kicking.]

[Elena has lived an adventurous life, but in some ways she's also a creature of habit, and one of her habits is if she sees something cool and tall, her instinct is to climb it. Giving in to this instinct has served her well in the past—good views, a better sense of the area for future navigation, a feeling of accomplishment.
But these ruined cities are, well ruins. And ruins crumble. After she places her orb and makes her way to the top of the temple, there's an ominous crack and the scraping noise of stone against stone and then a voices pierces the silence.]

[A bruised, dazed and generally abrased Elena ends up on the ground as part of a small landslide. Maybe at someone's feet, maybe just close enough to get an eyeful of, but when she looks up, it's with more embarrassment than pain.]

[Normally this would be fun. The two of them in uncharted territory, off to explore ruins and hopefully do some good—the concept would have sounded downright appealing a few months ago. But even setting aside the recalibration of normality that living in Hadriel has required, it doesn't feel like it should. Things haven't been normal for them since the day Sam Drake returned from the dead, even if she didn't know it at the time. And it's been awkward, even after their heart-to-heart. Nate opened himself up to her more than he ever has, but there's still a distance. It's almost weirder to be home with him again, sharing space, but having him sleep away from her. He's right there but she misses him. How can she just invite him back to bed and back to her arms, though? Could it be as easy as just asking?
So it's not fun and it's not normal, but maybe this can be good for them all the same. Getting out of the city, doing what they do best. It's something, anyway. At the edge of the ruins, she hops off the motorcycle and gives him a lopsided smile.]

He stepped around to most of his family, but for once, Lup insisted on staying home, and he wasn't dragging Barry out without her. Lucretia was obviously a non-starter. And despite it coming from an unpleasant place, he'd fallen into a comfortable pace with Merle and Magnus- there's something almost nostalgic about it now. So finally, they've got supplies, got a sweet ass motorcycle, and the world out around them. It's what he needs right now, if he's being real, but admitting that requires emotional stability and in no world does Taako have that. So instead, he'll stay chill. A quick enlarge spell on the bike makes it easy enough to hold the three of them, and it's a quick few days until they're seeing cityscape again.
As soon as they land, Taako steps off, taps the side of the nearest structure with the Umbra Staff, and listens to the steely, echoed clang before looking back at the boys.]

Partly due to the fact that she really wants to explore more of this place. She's not exactly looking for a joyride - knowing more of the territory might help in finding a way out. Somehow. Probably.
It's getting harder to avoid the thought that this is all pointless to even try.
But still, she does it. There's another motivation, too, the one the angry part of her brain doesn't really want to go on with, but, whatever, it is what it is - as far as she gathered, if they bring back the hope god thing, the one that was in charge of the Door comes back. Maybe that one will have the answers for the questions she has - and so do a lot of other people, she gathers.
She's done survival. She's also been spoiled by the rocket tree, so she isn't entirely sure about said skills.
During the way, she keeps close to whatever group she can find, specially the familiar faces. The same happens during camping, though she mostly keeps to herself. She speaks with spoken to, of course, but her mind seems elsewhere.

But here there's nothing stopping him. He's gone through the shops, found supplies and backpacks to store them in. The biggest hardship, he thinks, will be the limitations on wardrobe - the clothing in the shops is eclectic, but with care and time Rhy has managed to stock his closet pretty well. But he has to be careful with his packing, since the motorcycles don't have much storage space, and he's sure Alucard isn't terribly fond of that either.
Which is, perhaps, the other thing that feels strange. Rhy would not have wanted to go alone - he's not the sort who enjoys being on his own. But a trip for an undetermined amount of time, with only Alucard? It shouldn't be strange, not after everything. Despite what once happened between them, Rhy would trust no one else here with his safety, if not his heart.
Even so, he doesn't know exactly what to expect. Still, it will be an adventure, and that's what he wants.
He packs away the last of their bags, food and clothing and bedding, and looks up with a smile.]

It's probably for the best that Esa stays behind safe and secure in the apartment with a minder, as much as he hates the thought of leaving her in someone else's care. There's something about the idea of bringing her on a motorcycle with them that leaves something to be desired.
He leaves Rhy to gather supplies while he deals with the motorcycle, though this is mostly because he still doesn't know his way around the city as well as the other man. Quietly, he wonders just how well Rhy has done. He's a prince, and while this is a new and exciting adventure for him, he might not yet understand the responsibilities of being on his own just yet. Time will tell, Alucard supposes, as he flashes Rhy a smile of his own. Still not quite believing his luck that he would have stumbled upon Rhy, of all people, in a place like this, even despite the days they have passed together since that should have convinced him otherwise.]
Esa will miss us terribly, but she'll be well taken care of until our return.
