Event Log: The Beach Episode
Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.
The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.
And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...► This log covers May 27th-June 10th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!

taako | ota
[He almost doesn't notice when the city moves.
It's not the disorientation that gets him; in fact, it's the sound. He hasn't heard rain in months, and the sound of it pattering against the window immediately perks up a long ear as he tosses himself out of where he's lazing in bed and sticks his head outside.
Oh, shit. They've moved. He laughs, skittering down the stairs and outside to the sound of churning water and the grey skyline. Taako's grin only grows wider, as he cups his hands and yells to anyone in the vicinity:]
Hey! Come check this shit out! We're on island time now!
ii. [north island, park, 28th]
[Other people may be worried about being stuck on one island or another, but that's not what Taako's thinking about at all. This is the first time he's been somewhere with water after getting his memories back, and he intends to use that. Getting to the other islands are easy enough for a man who can become a bird, so the residents of the north island can be treated to a loud crash in the park at midday. If you come to investigate, you'll find Taako, standing over a tree trunk and orchestrating his hands like a conductor as a group of knives seem to be carving something out of the wood. He's muttering to himself, seemingly concentrating and lost in his own thoughts.]
Ugh, fuck, it's been years since I did this shit, how did I decide was the best way to do this again? Don't even have any oil, damn...
[For those who may have seen one before- it looks almost like he's making a surfboard.]
iii. [any island, on the shoreline, anytime]
[He's realizing, as the days pass, that getting around is becoming an issue for people. And when there's a need, the free market follows. And by 'free market', Taako means desperate people owing him for simple magical favors. So he patrols the shoreline, looking for people wistfully looking out to other islands, or otherwise those who may look hopeless before he slides up.]
Heyyy, you stuck here? I can get you anywhere you gotta go, y'know. No prob.
[Do you trust that smile? You probably shouldn't.]
iv. [wildcard!]
[Want another prompt? Find him somewhere in particular? Hit me up through PM or at
1
[That is why today, on this morning, he is pissed as fuck to hear those not-so-dulcet tones yelling from probably like a block or two away.]
[Gren opens his door, steps out onto his front porch, and yells back,]
SHUT THE FUCK UP, ASSHOLE.

Oh shit, this the siren call around this place? No lovely songs, just Mr. Potato Head over there screaming at the top of his lungs? Boooo, I demand a do over.
no subject
[He can still hear you, Taako. He can still hear you and he doesn't like it.]
no subject
Alright, so it's fantasy marco polo with curse words, great. What, you just gonna spend all your time indoors 'till we move again? Gonna be like six months, my dude.

...The fuck? Buddy, are you seriously...making a surfboard with a bunch of fucking magic knives?
And if you are - you take commissions?
[ Seriously, what's with the knives, though? ]
no subject
Uh, the knives aren't magic, what they're doing is magic, duh.
[As if that's the most obvious thing in the world. He's workin' on a spell here!]
And uhhh, if it works and you've got the right biz to give me.
no subject
[ It's pretty fucking cool, regardless. ]
I can come through on a lot, depends on what you need. You tell me, buddy.
no subject
Well, what're you good at? We talkin' items, favors, services?
[He purrs out that last word, holding the s on his tongue with a grin.]

Eeh, we don't have to work it out now. You can just owe me a favor later. 'Ss cool. Really, great deal for some magical expertise.
28th
What Carolina expects to find and what she does find don't quite match up, which isn't out of the ordinary here. Still, it draws her up as she approaches with caution. She's gotten more used to not wearing her armour, but it doesn't mean that she likes it, and times like these she misses that familiar weight.]
... and what are you doing?
[If he's attempting to make a boat, it doesn't quite look right.]
no subject
Still, he grins when she asks, like he was just waiting for someone to do exactly that.]
Uh, turning these dumb islands into fun. If I'm gonna be stuck on a beach for the forseeable whatever, I'm not doin' it without one of these.
[Which doesn't tell like, anything about what he's doing. But he continues a bit more.]
You ever gone surfing?
no subject
Her own purpose is to try to get back to the island where the rest of the Blues are, and fun isn't something that she's exactly looking for at the moment.]
Not on purpose.
[A few times by accident, sure, and more likely down a snow bank.]
You think the waters are good for surfing here?
no subject
I mean, I invented it, so I thiiiink I know what looks slammin' for some shreddin'.
[Does that make any sense out of context? Maybe not.]
I'm basically the best. Been without some water for a while but it's like riding a fantasy bike.

It's a decent carving. Elena used to live on the coast. She grins.]
Don't tell me you're making what I think you're making.
no subject
Depends. What're you hopin' for?
[He actually has no idea how many other people might know about surfing, seeing as he literally invented it that one time. But that was one world of now 101, so maybe somebody's infringing on his copyright.]
no subject
[Although maybe it is, now that she thinks of it. Because a magic elf going surfing on a homemade board is suddenly the best thing she can imagine.]
Let's take a look...long, flat wooden board, looks like it can probably float, we're on islands...Taako, are you making your own surfboard?
no subject
You got me. Wouldn't even be the first-- I made my own board last time I got stuck in a beach zone, though that one was much less cold and rocky. Still, I can work with this. Wood's not the best but fuck asking the liches up top for anything.

What is that?
[Leo had lived his entire life in what used to be the American Midwest without ever going anywhere else, so he's honestly never seen a surfboard in his life.]
no subject
Uh, best thing in the world when you're stuck with a buncha waves and nothing to do. You rock 'em. I made my first board, and it's been like a hundred years but whatever, amirite?
[That was No description at all. Remarkable. Regardless, he chuckles, the knives continuing their work whether he seems to pay attention to them or not.]
If you're in the market I mmmmight be open for trades.
no subject
A board. For the water. [He says this very flatly. Sounds fake but okay.] To each their own, I guess.
[Some people actually like the water for reasons that Leo will never be able to fathom.]
Pass. I have no intention of going anywhere near the water for as long as I can.

[It takes him a moment to process what the elf was saying, but the moment it does he leaps out of bed and bounds downstairs after Taako.]
[And if Taako hadn't heard Magnus barrelling down the stairs, the sound of fabric ripping and Magnus' shirt being thrown at his face should be an indication of the human's arrival.]
Island time means no shirt time! Fuck yeah!
no subject
Beach touchdown, fuckers! We rule this joint! We've got beach shit down in spades.
[A pause.]
Shit, do you think Merle is gonna make us horrible gifts again?
no subject
isshould be illegal.]I have to get back into beach Magnus mode. Gotta go around and keep everyone on their toes.
[Because sneaking up to people and screaming "MAGNUS" is "keeping everyone on their toes.]
Maybe. If he does we'll just have to find new and exciting ways to get rid of them.
