If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.
That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.
Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.
Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!
Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[Well, Ruby's happy with her raincoat. It keeps her safe from the cold and it's got a cute animal frog on the hood to boot. That's a bonus for her! If you're wearing a goofy looking raincoat she'll stare at you for a brief second and laugh. ]
What is that? That coat isn't normal!! You stick out like a sore thumb.
[Hey she sticks out too. Someone tell Ruby that she can't be so disruptive.]
❀ Colosseum
[There's a little girl standing with a scythe that's about three times her size. She uses it to slice the ogre, but it merely regenerates. ]
That's cheating! I won't stand for this.
[Ruby changes her stance into a more defensive one. That ogre's not going down easily. So she has to use more attack force or another plan.]
Why do you want to eat me so badly? I bet I don't even taste good. Wait...that's not the point [She's getting distracted here. Ruby yells at anyone who might be nearby.]
Helloooo. Today's going by great. It'd be even better if you'd help me slice down this poopie head!
Introduction
He turns around to snarl something nasty, gripping the sledgehammer in his hands tightly. But he bites it down. Years of cop training means he can't feel good about telling a kid to fuck off and mind her own business.]
The stores here didn't cooperate.
[That's an understatement. The rest of his wardrobe is just as bad.]
no subject
They didn't have anything better in stock? That's a bummer.
[She offers Pratt a sheepish smile.]
Flamingos are kinda cool.
no subject
[He cringes, wow that's a dated reference.]
Nevermind. Why are you out in the rain anyway?
no subject
I have no idea what's happening! My dog just ran out on me and then I chased him all the way here. Maybe the storm scared him.
[With that she takes in a deep sigh.]
Anyways I bumped into a few people and then I met you. What's your name buddy?

Colosseum
it should be noted that she's wearing what looks like a costume and is carrying a katana
she flies in close to the ogre, unsheathes her katana, and stabs the ogre through its right eye. the ogre reaches up to try and grab her, but his hands pass through her, as though she wasn't even there. she wrenches her katana and then stabs it in its left eye. again, it tries to grab her and again, its hands pass right through her]
I've got it crippled! Maybe together we can take it down?
no subject
[She runs towards Tinya so that they have a better chance of winning.]
That's such a cool sword. Can you tell me more about it later?
[It seems to be working well here. Ruby follows up on the attack with her own weapon. The ogre's slowing down. ]
no subject
[she floats down to hover by Ruby's side]
Sure, if you tell me about your scythe?
[she flies back at the ogre, this time aiming for its throat. again, it tries to grab her and again, its hands pass right through her]
no subject
[The ogre's staring to show some resilience. Ruby isn't backing down from this fight either. She's distracting it with her swift movements. There's a huge opening now.]
Do something cool. Anything!! It's looking at me not you!

colosseum!
Sure thing. [He has to raise his voice to be heard over the rain. He doesn't seem to be wearing much to fend it off, except for a thin cloak with the hood down. It's covered in (very wet) feathers, dull grey in color.]
You deal with the front, I'll deal with the back?
[Not that he's giving her much of a choice. He doesn't really want to put a teenage girl in danger, but that swinging scythe is definitely more of a distraction than he's about to be.
Tucker pulls the hood up and immediately seems to vanish- well, not quite. It's more like he blends into the mud and the sheets of rain, so that it's hard to track his movements as he darts around behind the ogre. It'll know he's there in a second, but for now he'd rather be hard to follow.]
no subject
Here it comes. [Tucker can get it from the back. He'll have more of an advantage from his location.]
You're up. Don't let me down stranger!
i really ought to have better knife fighting icons
In any case, Tucker uses his stealth to his advantage, sweeping up behind the ogre and slashing at the backs of its legs with his knives. He then gets out of the way as quickly as possible, because boy does it sure know he's here now. But the distraction (and the leg injuries) are exactly what Tucker was going for. The monster's on one knee, trying to twist around to see its other assailant. It's a perfect opportunity for scythe-girl to deal a finishing blow.]
ITS OK
She takes advantage of the opening and strikes when its weak. ]
Here! It's down. We got him good friend!!
[It might be safe to deal another blow just to be sure....Ogre's don't go down easily.]

Colosseum
Red hair tied back loosely in a pony-tail, her slacks and long sleeved shirt give her enough mobility, which is likely good. Her gun has been left back at her residence, not liking to waste the ammo, and instead she does have a variety of knives on her person. She might have needed something with a bit more of a punch though...
Her attention does shift, making her way towards a younger looking girl.]
I can certainly see what I can do. I'll distract it and you go for a kill stroke?
[The stranger's scythe does look like it could do some damage, and it does look like she knows how to use it.]
no subject
[Ruby swings her scythe around to build up momentum for her next attack. As she's doing that she takes another look at Agent Carolina. ]
My name's Ruby in case you're wondering!! I know now's not the time for small talk, but it's really hard to make plans without names!!
[They can make better combat strategies when they become more familiar with each other. At least Ruby thinks so.]
no subject
[Off-hand, although not rudely. She's not exactly one for small talk to begin with, but the situation is also a little tricky. Usually it's get over whatever needs to be done, and then some chit-chat.
A nod in her direction.]
They look tough. Let's see if we can find a soft spot.
[Her own knives are smaller, one in each hand, each as deadly as the other.]

Introduction
I do, don't I? [ She smiles warmly at the young woman and good-humoredly continues. ] But you can't talk much about standing out, little Miss Frog!
no subject
Ahahah you're right. It looks so dumb I can't get over it. Who makes these things? I want to know what the designer was thinking!
[Ruby walks closer towards Faith.]
So, are you from around these parts?
no subject
At the question, Faith smiles and gives a small shake of her head. ]
I've only gotten here recently, actually. I believe we're all here under the same circumstance. [ There's no reason to ask if the younger girl was new; it was clear she was. ] Do you want some help? I'm still getting used to these islands myself but I can help you learn the ropes.

Ain't that the point of gettin' dressed? [She'd find it far more insulting to be told she looked like everyone else.] I like it.
no subject
I like it too. Hey so. I don't think I've met you before.
My name's Ruby.
[She waves and offers a friendly gesture. ]
no subject
Uh, thanks? [Compliments; another foreign concept.] We haven't. I haven't seen you 'round town either. Guessin' you're new? Seems 'bout time for the new blood to come in.

but of course, he's trying to take it in stride.
looking back up again he has to ask— )
You don't like it?

[Ruby's laughing so hard at Akira that she's practically snorting. She'll remember that outfit for a long time.]
Looks like you came straight out of the aquarium!
no subject
but who is he to deny someone a laugh in a place where it's just what they need?
why not make the best out of a bad situation. with that in mind, akira is going to swish around a little bit and let the tendrils follow, completely straight-faced. )
