If your first thought upon waking up on the cold, hard ground of Hadriel's very own Colosseum is 'maybe I partied too hard last night', one, Delight would love you and two, you're wrong. Or- maybe you did, but that's not why you're here. Instead, you wake up with the same clothes you were wearing when you were last home, but surrounded by very different people. So, make some friends! Might as well voice your confusion and concern and show the technologically unsavvy of you how to operate these fancy new phones, right? Just be sure not to trip over these odd bags of chips on your way to greet your fellow man.
Don't spend too much time out in the open, though. There are monsters about, and not quite the usual ones. This month, Hadriel is bringing in four dragons, each with their own unique abilities and raidboss-esque stamina. They'll be terrorizing the city until someone puts them down- maybe that someone is you! Maybe you should, uh, actually hide. They're hungry and territorial and mean and they're definitely out for a good meal. Check out our OOC post for more information, as well as who will be eventually killing the beasts!
But hey, once you escape from the dragons, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.
New, as of October's intro log is a Newcomer's guide that installs itself by default on every activated phone. Thanks, Mello!
Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers October 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Alphys | OTA, will match format!
[This is... nowhere near where she expected to be in this moment. Going from rushing water to unconsciousness to here is way, way more than unsettling, and she's fidgeting with the buttons on her lab coat and clacking her small claws together as she shuffles slowly, and jumping as she hears the crinkling of the chips at her feet. These... don't look like any flavor of poptato crisps she's ever seen. Shyly, she breaks open the seal on a bag of 'the sad college student' and takes a bite.
Yeah, that tastes like the regret from her PhD. She's keeping this.
Of course, her thoughts are quickly interrupted by a roar and a dragon, and she yelps, running for the door as fast as her tiny legs will take her, and likely colliding into a few people in the process. Maybe it's you! Maybe you think this lizard person is another dragon! Or maybe you just want to stop her from the panic attack she's about to have on the other side of the wall.]
ii. the city
[She's... haha, wow, 'not doing so good' would kind of be an understatement. She's hunched up in a shop somewhere, behind a shelf, the bag of chips still held close and her phone in her sweaty hands. Okay. Another dimension. If she wasn't so horrified, she'd be happy about an old theory confirmed- or, uh, slightly confirmed, anyway. In the meantime, her tail is curled around her and her knees pressed to her chest, phone held close, reading the newbie guide over and over and wiping off her glasses to see if maybe they're the malfunctioning pieces in this insanity.
Really, she's trying not to cry. This... this is not what she wanted. This isn't what she wanted at all.
Feel free to find her in her, uh... current state, shoving more potato chips in her mouth out of sheer stress.]

He had plans. He had plans that involved a great deal of dawdling, moping, lollygagging, faffing about, and just generally being a useless layabout on the couch while Papyrus enthusiastically extolled the virtues of not being a useless layabout in the vicinity. He'd, uh. He'd kinda forgotten the beginning of the month gives way to a trickle-in of newbies. Linear time's a hell of a thing.
Thanks to his magic bein' the right shitshow it is, he's gotta take his time walkin' all the damn way there. And that's pretty exhausting. And he'd ordinarily be thinking, hey, what's the point, right? And then just immediately turning around and heading back home.
That's when the dragons arrived.
So Sans is - definitely not panicking, but maybe he's gettin' to a point where he's realizing this whole sitch ain't exactly the most favorable. He's moving at a pretty reasonable ramble for a guy who can't be assed to walk, let alone run, even on a good day. And it just so happens that a yellow blur runs slap-bang into him and nearly bowls him over, or would've if she weren't roughly his size.
He puts out a hand to steady her with a bemused grin.]
Alph?
[Does he sound relieved? Nah, not really. That ain't his style.]
ayyyyy
Leave it to Sans to find some hidden corridor in the mountain, she thinks. If it's anyone, it'd be him.]
Sans? W-What are you doing here? How did you even get h-here??
[She's still pretty panicked, all things considered.]
no subject
Nope. So, uh. The slow path. The long way. Which, whatever, okay, he can do that. He's not really sure from where she's hailing, exactly, but they can cover the difficult questions later.]
Long story, lots of tautological theorizin'. What say we get outta here, huh?
['Cause Alph, right now you're his favorite lizard, if mostly by the simple virtue of being the only one that ain't tryin' to kill him.
no subject
Y-Yeah, uhm, anywhere else would be uh, n-nice, right now-- are those really, uhm, d-dragons?? How did they even get down here, and f-fit properly, and-- you know what maybe let's just leave, uhm, right now.
[Right now yes let's go AWAY FROM THE ANGRY LIZARDS, OKAY]

But as much as Chara's reaction to go and fight them was normal, they knew that the Real Knife was going to be less than useful against these new creatures. So instead they decided to batten down the hatches and grab a few things in the shops before getting away from the Spires with Frisk until things calm down. Big towers high up in the air? Just asking to get blasted off.
Stepping into another shop, Chara does have to do a double take when they see...her. They almost say "You." out loud but manage to catch themselves before they do. Alphys. The Royal Scientist that they hadn't heard of again after their "fight" with Mettaton Neo. Here, looking scared out of her mind. Well, the situation called for it, Chara supposes.
They don't speak and instead walk forward. Their footsteps don't make much noise so whenever Alphys feels like looking up she'll find a red eyed child staring down at her. The Real Knife is still in the invantory, if that makes her feel better.]
eheheh
They look... familiar. Like the human, but not. Not quite.]
Uhm... h-hello there.
[Her eyes are wide and she's gripping the sides of her coat hard. What do they want with her?]
* here we go
Greetings. Are you one of the new arrivals?
[They may as well play it cool for now and see what point Alphys is at before proceeding.]
two lovers and the cauldron to hell and all that jazz
But that voice seems familiar. Where has she heard that before?]
Uh, y-yeah, I guess. I read, uhm, the guide, or s-something, but I still, don't, uhm... this doesn't seem v-very plausible, you know? To be, uhm... r-real.
[This is bothering her worse. Could she know them? How? She's only ever met one human in her life. It's not possible.]

ii spy with my little eye the living embodiment of anxiety attack
Follow, and follow, and- follow, till they're out of breath from all the running (never a strong point), waiting for their breath to catch up as they slump by the doorway, peeking through a dusty window to find the tell tale sign of a coat and claws.
Something cracks under their shoes when they enter. Broken glass from somewhere; something knocked from the shelf. But all that gains, in the end, is a child who rounds the corner with their hands raised up, as if she's got something on her that's going to take them out in a second.
Hello, buddy chum. May they do the approach?]
well you're absolutely not wrong
She hears the crack, practically jumps out of her skin, hugs her arms across her chest and they... appear.
The human. Here. To find her again. The one she hasn't seen since she ran away from them down the hall, telling them they had to fight ASGORE. After they killed... after they...
Her breaths are shaky. Afraid. But she doesn't have the will or means to fight. The bag of chips cracks slightly under her grip, but not much else as she wears at her lip, slightly, trying to think of something to say.]
S-So... you're here, too, uhm, h-huh?
B]
Closer.
Stopping within a few feet of her and crouching down, head tilting to the side before they- exhale. Loudly. And inhale, just as loudly. Exhale. Big, deep breaths, over and over again.
Would you like a paper bag, too?]
/o/
She twitches, trying to get away from the memory of opening the doors, finding Mettaton in pieces, the child standing over them with a dented pan. The bullet marks in Mettaton's casing from their phone. The bullets she installed. The pieces she added. The blame she placed.
Alphys shrinks in on herself a little more, shoulders slouching inward, eyes drifting away from them. She doesn't know what to do.
Maybe this is her personal Hell. To have to face the mistakes she's made, over and over and over again. She looks back at them, shakily but unmoving, not looking to bolt or hurt them, but certainly not comfortable with their presence.]

He passes a bit too close to an overhead dragon and rushes into the nearest shop to hide out until it decides he was just a trick of the light. He's breathing rather heavily for someone with no lungs, back pressed against the door.
A tiny crunch punctuates the silence.]
Hello? I apologize for intruding on your hiding spot! But perhaps we can share for now?
[He looks around from his position near the door but doesn't immediately see anyone... But the crinkle of a chip bag betrays the other person's presence for sure.]
no subject
That voice is familiar. So familiar. She's still quiet, but it feels unsure, and uncertain, and doesn't move from her spot as she speaks, for now.]
P-Papyrus?

Doctor Alphys!! I did not know you were here! It is wonderful to... ah, hear from you! You can come out! I, the great Papyrus, vow to protect you from any dragons that rear their heads around this place! You are safe here!
[Papyrus waits near the door for Alphys to decide to come out on her own. She is probably very scared, as new in this place as she is.]

ii did you order some chaos
But, whatever. She's starting to learn the city, inasmuch as the street signs make more sense and the streets themselves make less. There are shops to steal food from, so that's good too. She's down to only a handful left of her gas station sushi chips, and if she's not going to make it to a house today, she might as well stock up a bit.
She's a sort of naga when she slides on in, half human and half snake. The human half is wearing a hoodie that looks suspiciously like Sans's. She's gathering up cans of what appears to be soup when she hears a sound. She peers through a shelf.
"Oh! Oh, hello, I'm sorry! Didn't realize anyone was in here. Not your store, I hope? Because if it is, I suppose I'm stealing right now, which! Looks bad, probably. But if that's the case, I will pay you back!"
She blinks and tilts her head. The lizard creature--she almost looks like a bearded dragon spirit, or maybe a horned lizard spirit?--seems very out of sorts.
"Oh, hon, are you okay? You seem upset."
I MEAN I GUESS
"H-How are you not? Those are dragons, o-out there. They're going to e-eat us."
it's okay alphys she will protec
"Oh, psh, I'm not too afraid. I'm fair certain someone's already killed at least one of them. Seems there's a lot of hero-y types 'round these parts! In any case, they won't eat us if we stay hidden! And you're doing a good job of that, aren't you? Didn't even know you were hear till I heard you!"
She coils her snake half a little so she can settle back on it.
"But if you'd like, I could keep you company? Or I could try to bring you somewhere, though seeing as I'm new here I daresay I'd only get us lost."

Undyne follows Alphys into the shop. Before making her presence known, she takes a second just to watch the other monster go about her business, helping herself to some chips with her shaky little claws. She's gotten fairly decent at reading her over the years, and anyway, it's not as if the doctor is all that difficult to read. It wasn't uncommong to see her in tears, for example, but that doesn't make her crying any easier to deal with.
She wishes she could make Alphys smile more. She wants to protect that smile. ]
Hey, doctor! [ She finally reveals herself to Alphys, stepping out from around the corner and offering her a crazy big smile. ]
You hiding from everyone in here? Well, can't say that I blame ya! This city's full of nerds, fuhuhuhuhu!
YELLS
She realizes, suddenly, that she's been staring at Undyne with dinner plates for eyes for like, a solid 15-20 seconds. And that she should probably say something.]
There's also, uh, dragons outside, so, y-you know that's concerning. For uh, reasons. Good ones.
[Oh my god she sounds like a fucking nerd.]
Wait! D-Did you just get here?

Uh, f-fine! I guess, uhm, fine for, you know, d-dragons flying around and burned buildings and stuff!!

If it's any consolation, I think the dragons are mostly gone. I heard noises that might still be one left, but I trust that it's being dealt with.
