Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!
But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.
Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
Faith Carr | open and closed prompts, will match format!
[Ookay, Faith was definitely not in a big underground arena when she started working out today!
That's the first sign something is wrong. The second is that she's not alone. Before she passed out (blacked out? blinked?), she'd been by herself in a well-lit, wide-open room. At least she's still got her quarterstaff, but... well, she's also in yoga pants and a sports bra. If she's going to be underground, she'd rather be a little more covered up, for safety reasons. (You never know what's lurking in cave walls, what's been buried for years and years, what could be out there hunting you.)
(Speaking of hunting.)
Something glints in the dim lighting. Faith tenses, recognizing right away that it's some sort of blade, and whatever's holding it is coming towards her and the person next to her.]
Stay close to me, [she tells them, moving half between them and the approaching little thing. She's all too aware that size doesn't matter when it comes to a fight.] I've got this, yeah?
[Cue small fireball in her hand. She's ready for this! We're gonna be okay!]
we are the lions - CLOSED TO KATE/
[With a battle cry, Faith unleashes what is in essence a beam of flames, clearing a path in front of her that leads to what she knows by now is an exit.]
Oy! If you're looking to get out, come here! Run!
[She's not paying attention to who she's helping, only to the fact that she's going to get everyone out of here alive. So she goes on like this, twisting this way and that as she fights off these little monsters (she saw them hurt someone real bad with just a knife!! they're really dangerous!) with fire and quarterstaff both.
Since Rosenberg's defeat, she's less concerned with hiding who she is, and as yet she's only just started to suspect this isn't home. No one has gasped "a phoenix!" yet, but that's clearly because they're too busy with trying to get out of this creepy arena, and definitely not because there's only one person in this place who can really see her, see her glow, the light that will only be extinguished when she dies.]
free of the colosseums - WILDCARD/OPEN
[Since Faith has healing powers, you can find her at the clinic.
Or in the colosseum if you need an assist.
And since she is curious and social, you can also find her in the shops or the park or even in the unrestored areas.
Don't be shy, she'll probably like you! In fact, if she sees you, she'll smile and greet you without prompting.]
BABYYYYY
and is immediately blinded. shocked into ripping them off because it's like staring into the fucking sun after months of being in the dark and her heart seems to freeze and clog up her throat all at once.
there's only one person she knows who could possibly be that glow. there are other phoenixes - a handful, if she had to guess - in the world, but Kate has watched enough powers, seen the differences between two people with the same ability, to know that only one person can possibly be the blinding sun, the exploding supernova that leaves her blinking away the light that keeps dancing in front of her eyes.
how the holy fuck is Faith Carr here?
it feels like a breath she's been holding for months has just been released after being punched in the stomach, all her muscles seem to be light and wavy, her fingers twitch. there's no way- she'd completely resigned herself to being alone here, had been convincing herself that it was better that way.
and now she's staring down the unmistakable form of Faith, pouring fire through the colosseum like only she can.
Kate's body reacts before her brain really processes any of this, and she darts towards the arena, jumping off the stands and tossing a knife at one of these... weird little things that begins its slow walk towards her friend, one of her best fucking friends-
this is weird as shit.
also, hey, Faith, guess who's just dropped in at your side? )
Long time no see.
( and guess who's still JUST AS GOOD AT SAYING I MISSED YOU AS EVER. )
EEEEEEEE
Kate!
[Even amid the danger of these slow-moving beasties, seeing a familiar face -- such a familiar face! -- makes Faith smile.]
Is this where you've run off to now!
;_;
( more like being kidnapped, really, but that is something that probably shouldn't be said between them, so it won't be said. besides, Faith's here, she's been dragged into this mess as well, so she knows that this isn't a voluntary posting.
the little beast, the one she's already fucking stabbed, still seems to move. god, why is everything underground out to make her use all her weapons. another knife goes flying into it - she doesn't like these ones, they're weighted all wrong and Carl isn't here to make them work better, can't push things beyond the physically possible and give her better weaponry. )
We should go.

colosseum freedom!
Dang.
He carries on with his walk, messing with his phone as he's going by a few of the shops. As he looks up, he sees a woman smiling at him and waving. He's a bit confused at first, but far be it from him to be impolite.]
Hi there. How's it going?
\o/
(Was Kate lonely while she wsa here, so far from everyone she knows? That's so sad. But Faith is here now, and she's not going to let Kate be down, even if she pretends everything is okay. Which is what she always does. :c Kate.)
But! Here's this new person! Faith heads over to him, grinning.]
Not bad, considering I got kidnapped here! [She doesn't sound at all bothered by this. Kidnappings have turned out to be good things, for her. It's possible her accent makes her sound even more cheerful than she is.] How're you? Did you just get here too?
no subject
Me? Nah. Been here about a month-ish, myself. Kind of getting used to it, but mostly been hanging out like I usually do.
Other than that, I'm fine. I take it you've just arrived?

Wildcard!
Turning the corner, he spies a new face an ambles up to greet the girl. When he speaks, it's with a New Orleans accent, a bit snappier than your typical Southern drawl. "Hey there, sugar. Need any help? Directions?"
no subject
"Oh, no, I'm just wandering 'round." Faith's smile is wide, and her accent, Scottish, might make it seem even wider. "I'm new, though, so if you think there's a place I should see, I'd love to hear about it. My name's Faith!"
no subject
"Nice to meet you, ma'am," Amos chuckles, delighted with her grin (and won over by the charm she radiates). "I'm Amos."
Rather than shake hands, he makes a shallow bow: he's lived in Japan for longer than he'd lived in AMerica, and the manners have stuck. He only offers his first name, though, as she has. An equal exchange, because it takes a lot of charm to overcome his caution. Where he comes from, giving out one's full name readily will get you enspelled or possessed or kidnapped by the fae.
"Well, depends on where ya wanna go? Housing an' shops are mostly that'a'way, so's Hope's temple an' the clinic." He gestures with an easy hand.

She hadn't even noticed the little armed green thing till the half-dressed girl with the staff suddenly caught fire. After that, she has all of Bianca's attention.]
You do seem to have it, yes.
[She draws her staser pistol and stands out of quarterstaff range.]
I'll just stand over here and pick off any that try and hamstring you from behind, shall I?
no subject
Sounds like a plan to me!
[Collecting the fire into a ball in her hand, Faith hurls the flames forward at the little creature.
It barely even winces.]
Must be immune? [A good whack with the quarterstaff ought to--
Oh.
Hmm.]
Well-- least they're slow, yeh? Erm... maybe they're weak to your dogs?
no subject
When I stole Bud and Lou, I promised them I'd keep them safe. They're not cannon fodder.
The hyenas, who are entirely in agreement with Bianca on this point, have already retreated strategically behind her.
They are slow. I suggest we make them someone else's problem and leave.
[And then she smiles, bright and sly.]
I am Bianca. Welcome to Hadriel! I'd love to say it's not always random, violent and confusing, but it would be rude to lie on your first day.

( these dropping-in-unannounced things have been happening more and more frequently, especially following his last drop-in – which had been because he'd needed piecing back together, but that's neither here nor there – and it goes without saying that he's been frequent enough that pretty much everyone working knows him by name, if not solely by face.
with the exception of one ( 1 ) newbie. )
of course he doesn't recognize faith when he first sees her, and of course that means he has to make nice and introduce himself. ( he is the nicest moose. ) so this would be one ( 1 ) sam winchester meandering over to where she is, doing whatever it is she's doing, and offering up a small smile. )
Usually, a trip here when you're new means someone is patching you up, not the other way around. ( worst. opener. ever. sigh, sam. ) How'd you get so lucky?
/grabby hands
So she puts down the handful of charms she'd been going through and turns to give him a grin.] I've got an in. Always helps to know people on the inside.
[Yes, she is in fact winking at you.
And squinting for a second. Very tall guy who stops by? Hmmm. Time to investigate.]
You here for a heal?
he is so not prepared for this
at least she's not giving him a Look. ( like the ones dean gives him when he tries too hard. he'll never get away from that. ) he's a little more grateful for that than he probably should be.
that wink, though. he's not expecting that, and while it's little more than good-natured in origin, he can't quite help the awkward way he shifts his weight from one foot to the other and back again, scrubbing at the back of his neck with a small chuckle. ) Not this time. Usually, yeah. I just stopped in to see Kate. ( might as well admit it outright, because there is no getting around it, and it's not like he has anything to hide, anyway. )
I can always come back later if she's busy. ( dude, she's always busy. who do you think you're talking about here. )

Except that the new lady isn't behaving! Miriam huffs, holding Barnaby back with a hand.] Awwww, you're gonna ruin his fun! He's been good all day, let my man get 'im!
[The fire in the lady's hand is so nice and pretty, but it could hurt Barnaby. That won't do at all.]
no subject
[It takes Faith a second, because first she thinks this girl is hurt (hence the 'aww', right? it sounded pained! what do you expect Faith to think!), and then she wonders who this 'he' is. When she turns around and looks, that's when she gets it.]
Your sweetie there wants to use it as a chew toy? [She pauses. Thinks about it.
Shrugs. That could work.] All right. I'll burn the little beast if it starts stabbing at your pup, yeh?

Still, as soon as she hears the roof collapse, she darts into the building, covering her nose and mouth with one hand while she holds a fireball high in the other. All the dust makes it hard to see, but once it starts to clear, she spots the hedgehog -- how's she so sure he's a hedgehog? how's she so sure he's a he? -- and heads right over to him.]
I've got you, Shadow!
